Yesterday's board meeting (CG 'stands down' and wants to sell shares)

Recommended Posts

A very fair question that only he can answer. But I would liken it to a chess match. Both sides are prepared to sacrifice pawns e.g. PM on the McCollCo and BS/CM (perhaps off the Board but not the CEO position) on the incumbents side, in order to gain an advantage but both may have to agree to settle for a draw, at least this time around.

I'm not sure they do have to settle for a draw. Why would you if you felt strongly that you could win? After tonight's statement it doesn't look like the current board is all that confident of a win, hence the first show of compromise. We are not party to the detail they have but I reckon McColl is in this one to the finish, especially after being told he would be "embarrassed" when the shares were counted at an EGM.

I said "may", he will be well placed to count his supporters; I don't know if any of us here has that kind of information.

But if the consensus here is that he will fight to the finish, I am not going to disagree; nor would I have a problem with an EGM.

Very half baked statement from the board. Think we are heading for an EGM unless there is some real compromise from both sides. Stockbridge is the key man for me. Sooner that chancer is out of Ibrox - the better.

I agree, which is why I think there is a possibility of MCollCo settling for Blin IN Stockbridge OUT.

Reads like the back page of the Record, don't you think?

Blin is not a Stockbridge. I doubt that he will want to be CFO. His specialisation is corporate finance and corporate recovery. He also knows how to run businesses. After all, he ran a £1.2 billion business unit at PwC. He will be looking to develop the strategy and find the finance to drive that strategy. His role, I suspect, will be as the new Chairman of the Board.

As to Stockbridge, I don't actually have a problem with him except insofar as he is overpaid and get too big a bonus for the CFO of a £20 million turnover company. But if he is willing to take a cut and follow orders then why not?

I may be nit picking, and failing to see the bigger picture, but with Stockbridge I can't get that video out of my head that he took of Malcolm Murray, while some female (who was obviously with him) was constantly firing out obscenities about MM. Stockbridge has just come across to me as a classless little snide since then. In days gone by anyone who had done that within our corridors would have been out the door without their feet touching the marble staircase.

For all his critics etc can you imagine the likes of Alastair Johnston doing something like that?

Spot on.

There should be no place at Ibrox for Stockbridge for a whole bunch of reasons including his blunders & lies at the recent meeting with supporters.

It might be messy and it's likely to get even messier before this is resolved, but SpivCo need to go and the club board needs cleared out to a man and replaced with a more suitable one.

Spot on. This will take time. In the meantime, I am just glad to see the back of Green and Ahmed.

And imo Paul Murray is not more suitable.

I'm open minded to change but this whole thing is far from as simple as is being made out.
