Boyd could have been top drawer - if he wasn't so lazy.

Or under a different manager .......

Boyd was a penalty box striker and he was very very good at that. A different manager would have played to that strength rather than trying to make him into a different type of player. For example, putting him up front with a big strong guy like Prso or Hately rather than asking him to play lone striker.

Boyd deserves his call-up, realistically who would people choose in front of him? Scotland's lack of decent forwards isn't his fault.

To be fair to Strachan he's at least made the Scotland side competitive, again the lack of genuine talent isn't his fault. He's a big improvement on his predecessor.

Boyd's been cropping up on Radio Scotland a lot recently, he's much better than you expect him to be.

Guest Night Owl

Old school poacher who got the goals.

Thats why Celtic managed to make Hooper a success and sell him for a tidy sum, because they accepted him as being a penalty box striker and built the team around it... whereas some Einstein at Ibrox thought Boyd was an athlete with an attitude problem.... noooo that would just be a good old fashioned selfish to the core goal snatcher.

Get McKay and Templeton on the wings and Boyd in the box with some midfield support from law and McLeod you have yourself a threat.

Dunno what the rivalry between Ally and Kris is but to be honest its all in the past, if McCoist can't let that go then he's not as big a man as I thought he was.

Boyd with 1 assist 1 goal yesterday in Kilmarnocks win at Ross County.

But I was shocked to see the condition of Boyd he looked in the best shape in his career....looks like he lost all his weight and strong. Has he finally matured and realised what being a footballer is all about!

His assist and goal was impressive.
