I'm sure he has but doubt he (Big Eck) could do any worse.

Moyes showed at Everton he is a decent manager, he did much better there than Smith did. Constantly had them around the top 6 and Martinez has benefited from the team Moyes assembled on a low budget.

Moyes has been a complete failure with Man Utd, but their squad is miles worse than the top 4 and probably Everton and Spurs too. They have no central midfield and Ferguson has left the squad in a mess.

Moyes badly under-estimated the rebuilding job that was required last summer when he took over. He brought in only one player at that time,Fellini, who has been a total flop.Man U needs 4 or 5 players in positions which need strengthened which will cost well into 10's of millions. Now it seems it will be someone else who'll be spending that money

" Presumably you do have your tongue firmly in your cheek with this suggestion!"

They might give a thought to Mourinho but I reckon it'll be Eck.

Van Gaal is probably tearing up his Arsenal application but he hasn't a hope against McLeish.

They need more than 4 or 5 new players. Pretty much the whole team bar De Gea, Mata, Rooney and RVP needs gutted. Januzaj isn't consistent enough yet. Those attacking players don't play well together either, Rooney and Mata play similar positions normally.

That's just the first XI alone, they need backup too.

Fact is that no top level player will come to utd while he is in charge - there's no question about it now that he is done for.

The only question is who will replace him. There are only a handful of people in the world who could, and the only one in England is at Chelsea and tthe one they would really want is in Munich.

It's going to cost them a pretty penny with 5 years left on his contract, although "the award of a six-year contract was essentially a PR play, with Moyes' contractual terms including a break clause that enables the Americans to sack him at far less than the full salary costs of that term. " http://www.goal.com/en-ie/news/3919/exclusive/2014/03/26/4711963/man-utd-considering-moyes-replacements. Perhaps £10 million?

Plus the fact that they don't look like qualifying for Europe at all and goodness knows how much that will cost a team like Man U; perhaps £40 million including TV money http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/latest-news/bt-champions-league-deal-makes-qualification-worth-%C2%A340m-

So that's around £50 million right away.

Then there's all the players they won't be able to get if they are not in Europe and the existing ones that will want away.

Just shows the magnitude of the problem for the Glazers; about the same as some say it will take to put Rangers back where we belong.

Some candidates listed here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10777827/David-Moyes-possible-replacement-at-Manchester-United.html but what about Lennie of London Rd fame, surely he must be high up the list, after all THEY did beat Barcelona?

On a more serious note, genuinely surprised that Martinez himself isn't getting a mention, I know it's largely Moyes' team but he's upped their game to a different level.

And how about a final challenge for Arsene Wenger as an outsider?

Klopp or Simeone would be the best bet. They are much better off where they are though. Ryan Giggs? Hilarious. Ancelotti also completely bombed in his season season in England.
