Thankfully Costa Rica did well with their penalties, but both Mexico and Costa Rica were guilty of keeping giving the ball away cheaply towards the end of normal time + added time instead of being clever about their situations and trying to play keep-ball. Well done to Gribz, PapaBear, rbr, Selmy & steve1872 who all predicted the correct score for the Holland v Mexico game and got 3 points each. There were also some big points scored in the later match yesterday with blueflag, Juan & Rangersitis all bagging 5 points for the correct score in the Costa Rica 1 - 1 Greece game, so really well done to you guys. Also in that Costa Rica game last night, Tannochsidebear, TheTinMan99 and Time4_Change got 3 points each for their 0-0 correct result predictions, so well done to you too guys. We've got the French and the Germans playing their two games this evening with the French up first at 5pm against Nigeria, so don't forget to put in your predictions if you haven't already folks and best of luck to you all again. I'm taking France for this one (cue sounds of rejoycing in Berlin!). The German defense looked very porous last night, on the flanks and in the centre. Zappa 0 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Share Posted July 1, 2014 Hi folks, Here's a quick summary of the scoring in the Gersnet Prediction League for day 3 in the 'Round of 16' knockout stage in Brazil yesterday. First up yesterday evening we had the France 2 - 0 Nigeria game and there were a good number of points won in that one, with blueflag, compo, globespanscott, Gribz, Juan & Super Cooper all grabbing 3 points for the correct score, so well done to you all for that! Almost everyone else grabbed a point for the French win. In last night's later game, we saw the Germans seriously struggle to break down a surprisingly excellent Algerian side who seem to have improved every time we see them. It was a valiant effort, but not good enough to KO the Germans and eventually ended Germany 2 - 1 Algeria, so the Algerians head back to Africa along with the Nigerians and their bonus IOUs. The only person in our league to predict that Germany 2 - 1 Algeria scoreline was Bluebear54 who got 3 points for the correct score which pushed him back up into 4th place to keep him in contention, so very well done to Bluebear54. Almost everyone else grabbed a point for the German win. So, as we head into today's two Round of 16 fixtures on Day 4 of this knockout stage, Rangersitis still leads the league standings. With his staunch defense of the league leading perch and now on 60 points he's starting to look like he might just hang on for victory, but there's still 10 games left to predict, so plenty of points still available to us all. In second place on 51 points, Juan (aka Juancornetto) has made a late surge for glory with a string of superb predictions bagging him a lot of points, while rbr is still hanging on strong with 50 points in 3rd place followed closely by Bluebear54 in 4th place with 49 points.
