Court of Session rules in favour of HMRC + Rangers Issue Statement

Recommended Posts

WE WOULD like to correct some misleading information that has been circulating on what is described as the “Big Tax Case”.

For the avoidance of doubt, Rangers have not lost the case. There is no question of any liability impacting on our Club, its history or any member of the Rangers International Football Club plc Group.

The Rangers Football Club and the entities which currently own and manage it are not party to these proceedings nor do we have any say in what happens. The proceedings are a matter for those affected by them.

We note that the assessments for tax which were the subject for appeal and which are referred to as the Big Tax Case relate to Murray Group Holdings Limited, Murray Group Management Limited, The Premier Group Property Limited, GM Mining Limited and RFC 2012 PLC (in liquidation).

Would be interesting to know FS why BDO felt the need to contest this. Will be interesting to see if they are willing to appeal today's decision.

Can only think Lloyds put the kibosh on the Murray companies participation and that BDO weighed up the odds and decided the upside was worth the risk if was home they do likewise this time round too.

Had a right laugh at the number of Celtic fans phoning up Radio Clyde to talk about Rangers tonight when they've got a European game tomorrow. :seal:

Their European campaign is as good as over - we are the only show in town and the Tims need something, anything, to avoid having to talk about their own shambolic team and club

Rangers occupy their minds full time, more than their own club

A percentage of them are completely demented, almost like zombies in fact. :seal:

When there's some Rangers news released you can just imagine them slavering and wondering around with their arms out in front of them going 'aaarrrggghh'.

Haha statement/ 55

Shortly to be followed by league title 55. get it round yeez.

The way things are going I can't see us being allowed to win number 55. Apart from having to overcome all the people in the game being against us (and the compliance officer virtually only bans our players, for example) I really don't think the yahoos could take it, they'd wreck the season and stop all football rather than be beaten. They've attacked players and referees in the past, it would be the same multiplied a hundredfold were we closing in on the title.

I hope they do - I think there is a good chance the Supreme Court would overturn today's decision.

from FF:

From the last BDO creditors report Nov 14

Following receipt of Counsel’s updated opinion following the UTT proceedings' date=' the Joint

Liquidators remain of the view that the Company’s position in respect of the EBT claim is robust,

and intend to be represented at both the FTT and the Court of Session hearings.

To date, the cost to the Liquidation of participating in the EBT proceedings has been minimal,

with the costs being funded by a third party. Going forward, the third party has asked for the

Liquidation estate to make a contribution to the future costs of the process. Having liaised with

the Committee, we are now seeking to agree an apportionment of costs acceptable to both

parties. [/quote']

Who is the third party?
