Why should a team with 2000 season tickets get half the Ibrox 50000 gate money. That was a crap rule as Rangers supporters pay to watch Rangers. Yes we need an opponent but that does not mean they need to get half the gate money. They get the full payment at their own stadium. That is what their fans are willing to pay. Ask them what they would rather have. Their supporters gate money at ibrox? Or the Rangers supporters gate money at their stadium?

I doubt there will be much discussion.

 

The shared gate had been around for a longtime prior to the change and generally meant a more competitive league. We were able to remain reasonably competitive in Europe throughout that time.

 

I get the argument against it. More especially because of the general direction football has since taken and specifically, match-day income is now such an important part of our revenue and shared gates would mean we couldn't hope to compete in Europe.

 

Football used to be more sport than business (or at least it came accross as such).

Now finance is all important and the powerful clubs control the set-up.

The 50-50 split of the past is gone and quite right too.

They didn't vote to throw us out of Scottish football though, they didn't have that remit.

 

The SPL clubs voted to throw us out of the SPL. As far as they were concerned that was the end of the matter. They had no interest in where else we played. Take a look back at what they were saying at the time - they wanted us dead. Had the clubs in the divisions below not voted to allow us into the bottom tier we would not be playing football.
