Some rumours of the day ...

Gers eye Berahino swoop

RANGERS are set to launch an audacious bid to bring £25 million-rated West Brom striker Saido Berahino to Ibrox - for just £500,000.

Mark Warburton is keen on supplementing his attacking options and it is claimed Rangers are hoping to convince the Burundi-born striker that he can get his career back on track in Scotland.

And due to cross-border compensation rulings, the Gers are reportedly hopeful of landing the England Under-21 striker for a mere £500,000 - barely a year after Tottenham Hotspur had a £22 million offer thrown out. (The Sun)

Daniels could replace Gilks at Ibrox

RANGERS could look to sign Scunthorpe goalkeeper Luke Daniels, with veteran Matt Gilks looking likely to join Wigan this month.

But Mark Warburton faces competition from Huddersfield and Cardiff for the Manchester United academy graduate, who has been in inspired form for the Iron this season.

Daniels has experience of Scottish football, having spent time on loan at Motherwell in 2008, and has also had spells at Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers, Bristol Rovers and Southend United. (Various)

And some remarks by Magath and Klinsmann regarding Hyndman

Rangers target is ‘new Andrea Pirlo’

RANGERS will have captured the ‘new Andrea Pirlo’ if they can secure a deal for Emerson Hyndman, according to Felix Magath.

The former Fulham boss said of his ex-player: “He passes like an old professional. His role could be similar to the one that Andrea Pirlo plays, responsible for the forward play of the team from deep.”

Jurgen Klinsmann has also heaped praise on the Bournemouth midfielder, calling him ‘phenomenal’, adding: “He came to our first game after the World Cup, and in our first training session he played like he was always with us.” (Daily Record)

Celtic and Rangers plus host of others track Falkirk star Craig Sibbald

The 21-year-old playmaker’s deal is up at the end of the season and can be landed for a compensation fee of around £180,000.

Celtic, Rangers and a host of clubs are keeping tabs on Falkirk midfielder Craig Sibbald.

Record Sport Online understands the Glasgow giants along with Aberdeen , Hearts and English Championship side Nottingham Forest have recently watched the playmaker in action.

The 21-year-old’s current deal with Peter Houston's men runs out in the summer and the player is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any interested parties this month.

Houston has expressed his desire to keep Sibbald at the Falkirk Stadium by offering him a new deal.

However, the player may decide to let his contract run down in a bid to see if there are other offers on the table.Falkirk would still be able to command a training compensation fee in the region of £180,000 should Sibbald move on to pastures new at the end of the campaign.

However, the Bairns will need to offer Sibbald a contract renewal of equal or greater terms to his current agreement for that compensation clause to be effective.

Sibbald has been a first-team regular in the Bairns side since he was handed his debut at the age of 16 back in 2011 by then boss Steven Pressley.

He was in impressive form last Saturday as he netted a double during Falkirk's 4-1 Championship hammering of Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park – goals that took his tally to seven for the campaign.

Falkirk remain 12 points off Championship league leaders Hibernian and are in fourth spot just one point adrift of third placed Greenock Morton.

Whit aboot yon Crawford from Hamilton? I'd say he's the best player in the country outside the OF. I'm pretty sure Warbs and Rodgers must at least have thought about him.

I don't think Crawford's contract is up ntil the end of next season. The days of us paying transfer fees to Scottishclubs will be few & far between from now on I think
