Transfer Rumours and Deals - Winter Window 2016/17

Recommended Posts

I am completely at a loss to understand why we need to pay a fee for a back up goalkeeper in our current situation.

You have to remember these are all rumours until they are signed!, you keep poking away at the manager!, your last poke was suggesting he lied about Hodson being injured so he could justify playing Tav!!!, I don't think I am alone in thinking MW & DW are doing a good job so far and we are heading in the right direction?.

Why not concentrate in getting behind them as they build a squad capable of challenging for the title?, most fans can see we are progressing!.

Also you have no idea what is happening behind the scenes!, none of us do!, no point in writing any signing off until they sign and then after a good run of games!.

Jak seals Gers deal Port Vale keeper Jak Alnwick set to complete Rangers move

SunSport understands his move is likely to complete Gers' business in the January window

BY ANDY DEVLIN 29th January 2017, 10:30 pm

JAK ALNWICK will complete his move to Rangers tomorrow.

And SunSport understands that is likely to complete Gers’ business in the January window.

Port Vale keeper Alnwick travelled north following his side’s 3-2 defeat at S****horpe. He will undergo a medical tomorrow morning before signing a two-year deal.

The fee triggered a release clause in the 23-year-old’s contract, yet negotiations over instalments have still to take place. After Alnwick played at S****horpe, Vale caretaker boss Michael Brown all but confirmed his departure.

Asked if it had been his last game for the club, he said: “It could be, there is a good chance of that.“But he’s still with us and we’ll see what the coming days bring.”

Alnwick — back-up for Ibrox No 1 Wes Foderingham — will go straight into Mark Warburton’s squad ahead of Wednesday’s trip to face Hearts. But it looks unlikely that a deal for Reece Oxford will be done.

Gers had hoped to sign the West Ham defender on loan, but they have been unable to offload the central defender they needed to make that happen. Ibrox sources rubbished claims a deal to take wonderkid Billy Gilmour to Chelsea has been done

... alas Andy Devlin (ex Rangers News) appears to be the board's journo of choice.

Below are the increasingly creepy Jackson's observations from today's edition of rasellik's house mag:

a rather empty piece of speculation, or a collection of alternative facts, if you prefer, as usual designed to damage Rangers.

(The 1st part of the piece concerns Cathro, but who wants to read that?)

Warburton attended a board meeting last week and the manager may have been surprised at the level of hostility in that room as it quickly became a bruising affair.

Dave King – who has only attended one Rangers game all season – flew in from South Africa especially to sit at the head of the table for that grilling. He was gone again before Warburton’s team won at Motherwell at lunchtime on Saturday.

Dave King is thought to have been critical of Mark Warburton's transfers

But while the chairman shows very little interest in actually watching Warburton at work, his assessment of the manager’s signings is thought to have been brutal.

King seems to deem his employee is underperforming and over-earning. Warburton could dispute both points.

That Fir Park win kept his side in second place in the league table which is as high as Rangers can expect to aim this season.

And, much like his budget, Warbs’ wage is a only a fraction of the fortunes which his old pal Brendan Rodgers is taking home across the city.

If Warburton has now been given reason to suspect that his own bosses might be turning against him that would seem like a needless, senseless act of aggression by the chairman and his wing men.

If he believes he has been treated unfairly then Warburton is likely to feel not only wounded but also enormously frustrated.

If the board is either unwilling or unable to back him in the transfer market then he may wonder if there is much point in carrying on.

Especially, given that Rangers are now relying completely on the manager’s extensive network of contacts down south to attract whatever short term fixes they can get their hands on.

Without Warburton’s standing at clubs like Arsenal and Bournemouth, for example, it

is highly unlikely that Jon Toral or the impressive Emerson Hyndman would have dispatched to Scotland’s top flight for the rest of the current campaign.

Warburton will also have an anxious eye fixed on the clock as it ticks down to midnight tomorrow

He will be aware of interest in Barrie McKay from the big-spending Germans RB Leipzig and if this should crystalise into a firm cash offer before the transfer window shuts down then the gaffer will surely want to have his say in whether the player is moved on or not.

Not to mention demand a few quid for his own transfer kitty.

In the meantime both he and Cathro must attempt to cut each other up live on telly on Wednesday night.

No one ever told them being a manager would be easy. But they would never have thought it would be this hard.
