Transfer Rumours and Deals - Winter Window 2016/17

Well he's signed now and IMHO it's a complete waste of money UNLESS he is at least as good and we are going to be able to SELL WF or MG for more money than we are paying for JA.

I don't believe we need or can afford two first choice goalkeepers in our current situation. We could have recalled Kelly as cover if and when Gilks goes and would still have no difficulty finishing at least third and qualifying for the Europa League.

IMHO ... Jak was signed so that Gilks (who is rightly unhappy) can go to AFAIK Wigan. A straight swap and apart from the fee, no money wasted. Given that Jak has signed a longer deal and is rather young, we can expect a certain sell-on value. Gilks in turn has 1,5 years to run on his contract, so we should rake in at least as much as we paid for Jak.

Kelly, or any other youngster, has hardly played competitive football that would have him straight in a first team Rangers squad. Given our luck, I could forsee that Wes gets an injury and we would be left with a youngster in goal. It all might have gone well and e.g. Kelly might have be in for some heroics in the next OF game. But if he sets the odd foot wrong, it may very well wreck his Rangers career for good. Not with the manager, but the support. All ifs and buts, yet, as long as Gilks moves out, the status quo is retained. BTW, given his good form, I do expect some bids from down south in the summer.

Matter of fact, if you watched Gordon's antics and the little he had to do in the Premiership, you do wonder why clubs are willing to throw millions at the Yahoos ... if that is actually not part of the alternate facts mentality beyond the Clyde.

Rangers face competition to land Reece Oxford as Nottingham Forest enter the fray

Mark Warburton’s chances of landing West Ham prospect appear slim.

Rangers’ bid to sign West Ham prospect Reece Oxford is appearing unlikely to happen.Nottingham Forest have enquired about landing the 18-year-old defender on loan, reports the Mirror.

Earlier this month we revealed the Ibrox club had made contact with the Hammers over the highly-rated player. Oxford signed a new four-and-a-half year deal last month but has struggled for first-team opportunities this term and is likely to go out on loan.

But Rangers’ chances of signing him have taken a hit with English Championship side Forest now appearing to be the frontrunner. Mark Warburton is still trying to capture Port Vale keeper Jak Alnwick, with Rangers confident of signing the 23-year-old.

Looks like Reece Oxford will go to Reading.

It sounds like Gilks has just been released and presumably there is therefore no fee involved.

Seems strange, un less there was some sort of agreement with Gilks that this is what we would do to encourage him to come here as cover for a while and we honouring it.

ARSENAL have stepped up their bid to try to pinch Billy Gilmour from under the noses of Chelsea.

SunSport understands Rangers gave the Gunners permission to whisk the starlet and his family to London at the weekend.

The 15-year-old was given the all-star treatment and watched the club’s Under-16s play.

Gilmour was joined on the sidelines by Arsenal’s academy head of scouting Steve Morrow.

Fifa rules prohibit any official move until just before the midfielder turns 16 on June 11.

He could be landed for £100,000 in a cross-border compensation deal if clubs wait until then
