I feel sorry for Halliday. He lost form last season but he was hardly the only one, I do wonder how he'd perform with better defence behind him and a better attack in front of him. I still think he's a better player than he gets credit for. Hey ho.

I think there's a few players who fall in to that category to be honest. I'd say the lack of confidence displayed within the team as a whole also didn't help.

Of course, the flip side is that some of these players also made quite a lot of unforced errors and very reckless challenges/decisions through the course of the season so its a difficult one to judge.

The only one i'm surprised about is Dodoo, who i thought was worthy of a better chance and offers something a bit different to the others. If Waghorn/Miller can get into the squad despite both having really poor goals returns last year, then Dodoo has been quite unfairly treated by comparison.

Of course it could be that he just doesnt show much in training or has a poor attitude etc that we dont get to see.

Those not making this squad know their time is up and their agents should be working to get them a move.

You could apply that theory to all players and positions John.

The truth is Halliday is just not good enough.

Remember the manager has a certain quota to hit....it may be that some players HAD to be included (to the detriment of others) in order to make that quota.....

Houston, Mayo & Rudden have yet to make a 1st team appearance, yet get included in the squad - to achieve the required quota of homegrown players.
