Miller banished from first team according to DR

Recommended Posts

It definitely is a dig at Traynor as him and Jacko don't get on.

FWIW, I don't have an issue with JT using TRO as an unofficial/official outlet - in fact I said SDM should have done same years ago - but I do wonder if Jacko would call Lawwell out for using CQN over a much longer period.

I think most had jaloused that CRO operates, on occasion, as an unofficial (and plausibly deniable) outlet for Board views.

I had formed the view that the "News" section was this conduit, while the "Views" section was not, being an avenue for the concerned and the opinionated, as most supporters tend to be.

The problem with CQN is that is difficult -impossible- to determine whether the sometimes less than conciliatory views promoted therein are merely promulgated to pander to the slavering, rabid hordes, or whether the Board and other movers and shakers within the piggery hierarchy actually believe, mean, and agree with what is printed.

You are, of course right to speculate on whether the Daily Rabble would dare to criticise rasellik for using the CQN channel. Has any of the cowed Scottish media? Ever?

A couple of points about KJ's article.....

When did Miller become a club "Talisman"??? This would imply that he brings good luck & inspiration to the team when he plays - I've not seen much evidence of that. Yes, he works hard but to me 89/211 goals/appearances isn't exactly outstanding for a striker - that a 42% return ratio.

The entire episode is an absolute mess and, shamefully, it’s Miller who has been made to pay the ultimate price for this rank amateurism. Years and years of dedication to his sport in the name of squeezing every last ounce of ability out of his body now tarnished by a manager who is out of his depth in charge of Rangers and a whispering campaign which has been maliciously designed to maximise reputational damage.

Miller is neither a rat nor a snitch. He is a victim of an inexperienced, egotistical manager who is struggling to command the respect of his dressing room and who thinks, by taking out the talisman, he will bring the rest of them into line. And of a Machiavellian attempt at character assassination.

Couple of quotes in there that should get the RFC media folk on the war path....

Inexperienced??? Spent 11 years as an assistant manager at clubs like Sporting CP & Panathaniakos, then another 8 years as a manager, winning 3 major titles with Santos Laguna. As a manager, he's taken charge of 254 matches. He may not exactly have the most glittering career, but he's far from inexperienced.

Egotistical....Maybe, but no always a bad thing. In order to make claims like that, I would like to see come clear evidence of such.

"Taking out the talisman...." - frankly Millers performances this season have been woeful, so why not drop him??? If the player takes umbridge at that, then that tells you more about the player than the manager.

As for the dressing room stuff....If this was ANY other manager, it would be written that they were stamping their authority & letting the players know that their performance wasn't good enough....but somehow with RFC, it's complete club meltdown.

Just seen this on the DR page - Total KM love-in:

Rangers striker Kenny Miller puts in professional performance as Ibrox kids win 5-2 against Brentford B

The veteran took on the armband and led the youngsters to a win.

Rangers took on Brentford B as part of the club's Games Programme and our GetWestLondon colleague Tom Moore was covering the game.

If Kenny Miller was angry at his axing from the Rangers squad, he certainly didn't show it as he produced a professional performance for the U20s in a 5-2 win at Brentford B.

The 37-year-old, banished from Pedro Caixinha's first team squad in the aftermath of a 2-0 defeat to Celtic, treated the clash with the Bees with the same attitude as he would put into an Old Firm derby.

The allure of playing against an English Championship side's youngsters on a Sunday afternoon at their training ground based on the final approach to Heathrow Airport would not be appealing to many players used to playing in big games and international football.

But, to Miller's credit, he showed no signs that the game was beneath him and there was no indication that he was a disruptive influence at the Ibrox club.

If anything the term 'model professional' would be a fairer description to his display during his 77 minutes on the pitch.

Miller was named captain by Graeme Murty and he provided a guiding hand to his young team-mates and was, in effect, a coach in the middle of the pitch.

He was constantly talking to his team-mates and providing tactical advice and was quick to congratulate his team-mates when they scored, going to present the match-ball to Ryan Hardie after he competed his hat-trick.

On the ball, he showed his talent and nous to help dictate play against a young Brentford side.

Rangers profited from Brentford's profligacy in front of goal in the opening stages to take the lead through a fine finish from the young forward.

Aaron Nemane doubled the lead with a surging run, before cutting in and firing home and the Bees were indebted to young goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe for keeping the score down before half-time.

He was beaten again on the stroke of the whistle as Jamie Barjonas produced a superb finish.

Bradley Clayton pulled a goal back for the Bees early in the second half but Hardie found the net again to make it 4-1 and he completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining.

Former Celtic youth product Theo Archibald scored a second consolation with the last kick of the game.

He's good at innuendos is Keef. First Morelos (was an apology ever received for the Columbian stereotypes?) and now TRO/Traynor/Villareal. Thinks he's a real wordsmith, when the truth is, he doesn't have an original thought in his head.
