Ongoing new manager discussion and speculation

Recommended Posts

He's shagged your Mrs, hasn't he ?

We aren't going to agree but give me a name(s) that you'd put forward or/and give me the remit for the next Rangers manager in his 3 year contract as you see it (year by year).

Name is impossible without the full list and contact details

Remit however is easy.

Must have demonstrably shown tactical ability to breakdown banks of five.

Must have the ability to change games and exploit weaknesses in opponents.

Needs to have a winning attitude and never say never outlook.

Must instill in his players the belief that only winning even against the odds is acceptable

Must play attractive modern football.

Must have shown a ta tick strength that can compete against teams with far bigger budgets.

Must be consistent

Must handle stress with ease and be the sort who excels under pressure and lifts his game when the pressure is on.

He needs to have a track record of getting more out a squad than seems possible and a history of finding out the box solutions.

He must have a knowledge of successful and available player markets with history of returns on outlay.

He must have a history of using youth players and continously bringing youth through year after year to success.

And last but probably not finally he must fit the playing style and formation laid down throughout the club that sees periodisation utilised from kids to first team for continuity.

Mccinnes ticks barely any boxes. All I've heard is he knows rangers and Scottish football. If you needed specialist knowledge to compete with Scottish teams they wouldnt be getting beat at pretty much every opportunity. Nobody finds it hard to beat Scottish teams, no knowledge of the league outwith the norms is needed, it's just ego talking, thinking we are special and demand special care. We don't.

It's only worth while if paying the million pound is the only way we would have attained what we did.

Think pretty much all of us agree that what they will bring can be had for zero outlay. We don't have a million to gamble on such low returns. Plus it's becoming apparent the dof is as out dated as king. Two peas in a pod that would rather rewind the clock than write a new future.

How do you see mccinnes repaying that million pound in a way nobody else available could have? What makes him and his team worth an outlay of nearly £2m this season?

God even asking that makes me shake my head in bewilderment.

Some have called this our most important managerial appointment ever, it's certainly up there. One that we can't afford to be another disaster. We need to re-build and mitigate risk.

Taking into consideration finances, realism and circumstances, you set your criteria and look for the best fit.

You eventually choose your man and if you are strongly convinced that he is your man, you attempt to appoint him and pay the compensation. Being the most important man in the footballing operation, you may need to pay through the nose. If the man has proved himself adept at building a squad on next to no finance, that may prove money well spent.

There is a danger that unrealistic expectation levels/timescales mean that this will never get off the ground.

Giving Murty the job would end in another disaster.

Players don't really respect him and whilst it's all fine when he's won a couple of games, when we get beat it'll be a different story.

--------------------

Winning is more important than style.

First you walk, then maybe later you run...........you can't do it the other way around.

How do you know the players don't really respect Murty? It appears to me they absolutely do respect the guy.

Dons legend Willie Miller last night hit out at the circumstances McInnes has been forced to contend with in the weeks since Caixinha was shown the door.

'It is a ridiculous amount of speculation the Dons manager has had to work under and his players have had to cope with,' he said.

Aberdeen keeper Joe Lewis claims speculation over McInnes future hasn't affected the team

The thing that makes me laugh through all of this is that media/pundits are going on about the amount of speculation affecting DM etc.....yet not a SINGLE word has been said by RFC in regard to DM or any other potential manager - 100% of speculation has been drummed up by the media & pundits - the very folk who are complaining about it. I could understand it a bit more if RFC had approached Aberdeen 4 weeks ago, then dragged their heels, but as far as everyone knows, there has been no approach or even mention of DM.

The truth is that the media now nothing about what is going on....relying on hushed whispers from sources that they can't reveal (most likely the tea lady overheard some office based person ie. wearing a tie, talking about someone called "Derek").

AS someone said earlier, I would love it if, DM's name was intentionally left out there as a total decoy, giving the board peace to talk to the real candidates. I actually have a wee feeling that we may be totally surprised with the appointment - might just be eternal optimism though.

As for Ferguson as No.2 - no way. Total failure in his managerial career so far. Was absolutely loathed & useless @ Clyde.....why would he be ANY good as a 1st team coach for Rangers???

I think it evident that generally they like him and think him a decent bloke but that isn't respect.

#'Murts'

They've taken to slaughtering each other as well.

Pundits are now becoming the subject of ongoing stories in a low quality enviroment.

Michael Stewart the pundit is making more news than M.S the footballer ever did.

Kris Boyd appears more concerned with media profile than playing football.

A lot are taking Chis Sutton's lead in being controversial to draw attention to themselves, opposed to offering insight on the football.

That's because they're lazy, and not very bright. It's much easier to make up controversy than to understand the game enough to opine on tactics, etc. Boyd has made a career out of being lazy so why change now? These establishment pundits keep themselves in jobs by making sure that only others as dim witted as them get roles in the media.
