Pacific Quay Musings?

Recommended Posts

Plenty of people still log onto the BBC website and various other news websites though.  So they're getting the same stories from the same sort of people but instead of paying directly, they are bombarded with adverts.

You would hope there always a place for investigative journalism but that's probably just wishful thinking.

I genuinely don’t know anyone under 40 who buys a newspaper? Why would you?

I still get a paper in the morning (The National, surprise surprise).

I work with computers all day, staring at a screen....a paper gives me a break from that.

Objectivity is what we want. Not an even more vitriolic (and often comical) hatred of us.

It's official and depressingly true.

All license fee paying Rangers supporters, including those who are infirm, elderly, and lack appropriate means do NOT receive the same service as supporters of other Scottish teams. Liam McLeod and Pat Bonner sent to Armenia to cover Sellik's Euro tie, and John Barnes and Peter Houston sent to the Faroe Islands to cover Hibs. Rangers supporters were served Liam McLeod and Billy Dodds in a Pacific Quay studio, watching the TV. Big Dick continually utilises the euphemism, 'we will be keeping an eye on events' to describe commentating from the telly.

Last night, it was Big Dick, Liam McLeod, Pat Bonner, and Scot McDonald all at Breezeblock Boulevard. Peter Houston(well he is a Sellik man) was on the line from the Faroes, complimenting Sellik on their new PA system and BBC Scotland for their coverage, "sitting here, feeling the atmosphere, just like being at the game Richard". Big Dick assured the listeners that they would be live at Pittodrie next Thursday for the Dandy Dons against Burnley, and their would be coverage of Hibs in Greece. Live commentary from Norway is guaranteed on Tuesday evening for the Yahoos.

Our trip to Croatia has been ignored. Why are none of our political representatives highlighting BBC Scotland's continued deliberate non provision of service to a specific section of society?

All the best with that.

Murdo Fraser, Jackson Carlaw, Brian Donaghue, Ian Davidson (if he's still in parliament) - not exactly an inspiring list. And by that, I mean politicians who command respect across the political spectrum.

As you know only too well 26th, no one from the SNP will speak up on our behalf.

It's worse than we think.

There was a questionnaire sent to all 129 MSPs in Autumn'16; it was a standard favourite band, book, holiday destination, football team, .................. etc type of thing. I think it was November that the results were released, only one MSP, Murdo Fraser admitted to supporting Rangers. Surprisingly, 13 MSPs claimed to support Partick Thistle. Of course, over forty preferred the green'ngrey hooped horrors.

I blame Murray for his failure to cultivate a raft of cross party support. There is nothing that moves civil servants/local government/public funded bodies/quangos etc quicker that an envelope embossed with the portcullis arriving atop their in-tray. There is a genuine grievance here, BBC Scotland do it because they can. It is NOT acceptable.

Another big Rangers man joins the Beeb...

I believe Scott Mullen to be a devotee of the claret and amber.

BBC Scotland have two Rangers supporters. Richard Wilson is confined to a drawer somewhere in the depths of PQ, and Derek Ferguson is known as, 'the token'.

I heard it to. I heard a fair bit of praise for our new defenders as well.

Not in my estimation.

Ahh...the old chestnut of a passing affinity with the Harry Wraggs - who would've thought it. Cowards.

What could Murray have done other than grease a few palms?
