The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals

Recommended Posts

It is slow going ... but we've already got 10 signings plus SG and his team. Perhaps we should relax a little. At least on the transfer front.

I would expect Lafferty is the one target we might get in ahead of the closure of the EPL window next week. Perhaps we can snatch a "marquee" signing after that still.

As for Aberdeen et al ... all Premiership clubs bar us and the Scum have had to rely on loanees and freebies for more than half a decade now. They know where to fish and what they need: essentially team players who fit in with solid and strong unit that more or less relies on the opposition to make mistakes rather than trying to play open football and be creative. If they get lucky, they find a few "gems" like Mulumbu or Kamberi. If they get luckier, they find a buyer for their best players too, so they can actually sign someone for a fee. Still, most games against teams from the middle and lower half of the table will become a struggle again, unless you score a quick goal or two, so they eventually have to open up.

Credit where credit is due wrt the board / football operation / Mark Allen..........we got most of our business done early doors and that has allowed the new management team to have a solid start.

... indeed. We had to, since Europe could become a major source of revenue (methinks a win in the EL group stages is worth 500k now). Still utter madness, that we and dozens of others are forced into this in pre-season, but we seemingly learned from others' and our failures.

That said, the Croats won't be push-overs and Maribor is another Eastern nation's country, a region that we have so many bad memories of.

If everyone wants some transfer business in this slow time, I am perfectly willing to give my Bank number and you can transfer as much as you want on to it.:D

He looks like exactly what we missed last season in those home games against the wee teams that cost us so many points. Very excited about his potential this season and I hope he’s more than a “super sub” or “impact player”
