Anybody else think young Middleton should be given the nod for striker in the absence of Lafferty & Morelos?

Given he's got a nose for goals (3 goals in 215 minutes), not a bad shout.

SG's 10 man Rangers have already went nearly 80 minutes against Aberdeen without a centre-forward, Murphy and Windass were left up front.

Methinks he played across the forward line with the development side. Likewise, Grezda and Kent can do this too, but from the looks of it, Middleton is more clinical. It could well be that once we throw Grezda on his preferred left-wing slot, we could play a 3-man attack line with Grezda, Middleton and Candeias, with Arfield, Dorrans, and/or Kent in attacking midfield. That said, if either Lafferty or Morelos are available, they will sure be first choice.

I thought Ayr commitment was comenable, apart from one or four petulant tackles, they set themselves up to defend in number and try to catch us on the break with their two fast wingers/forwards. It nearly worked well for them in the first half, but once we took control they fell deeper into basically 10 defenders. It was a good exercise in that  we are learning to get behind a 10 man defense, which we had trouble in the past getting behind a packed defense. We are looking good in all departments and beginning to motor. Looking forward to the semi final. Only blimp is who are going to be our strikers in that game, Middleton isn't a lone striker in the mould of Morelos, Middleton likes to attack defenses from further out or come in from the wings, dilemma?

Sorry but it doesn't exuse ill-discplined stupidity when consequences for team going forward were clear.

It's not about either or,.......... Madden can have a poor match and Morelos can be stupid at the sametime.

Might it be the case that Morelos may get booked when others would just get a talking to because refs think oh well he can't speak English so I can't give him a talking to just book him.

And I saw someone else raise a good point about his lack of English. How else can he communicate other than hand/arm gestures when he can't say what he's thinking.

Making those type of excuses don't wash now that he's been over a season in the Scottish game and he doesn't seem to be willing to learn or appreciate the importance of discipline in certain moments.

On the face of it, a booking last night was no big deal but the reality is that it was ill-discipline that now makes a very significant difference to what options are available to us in a National Cup semi-final and this would have been relayed to him prior to the game.

In the Ufa game, he kicks the ball away and gets booked in a hugely important game, it's something that can happen.

What doesn't often happen in that type of situation is that having been booked, he continues to act the idiot and gives the referee the grounds to send him off. The language doesn't matter, that was reckless stupidity for a footballer in those cicumstances and he has it in his locker.

Bottomline, he can't be trusted.
