First league game of the season showed an ability to change things effectively from the bench. As Stewarty points towards, we may need to be flexible tonight.

IMHO, we'll probably have the very same team that started against Livingston, with the only exception probably being Goldson in for either Katic or Worrall. Defoe causes all sorts of bother up front, so we'll sure keep him alongside Alfredo.

Massive game tonight, huge, they are always action packed so our players really need to be up for it.

 

The team Frankie has posted should be the team, however If Goldson is fit he will play and I would go with Katic beside him, The SHEEP style of hump the ball into the box Katic is strong in the air so for me he should start.

Derek McInnes has revealed he will welcome back three key players for the Rangers clash – but will be without star centre-back Scott McKenna .

On the plus side, Joe Lewis will almost certainly take his place in goals after being forced off during the win over Hibs at the weekend with a gash above his eye.

Sam Cosgrove returned to training after he, too, came off at Easter Road in the 19th minute with a back spasm.

And Michael Devlin, who hasn’t played since beating Hibs on November 9, returns to the squad.

It’s doubtful, however, the centre-back will start and McInnes will again go with Andy Considine and Tommie Hoban.

The Aberdeen boss said: "Sam trained today and Joe feels ready while Michael Devlin is added to the squad and Connor McLennan and McKenna are still out."

Aberdeen will leapfrog Rangers into second with a win over their Ibrox rivals at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.

We've had good luck here again. McKenna is a huge miss for them and Lewis and Cosgrove will play but they won't be 100%.

Is it just me imagining it or are we starting to shoot much more from outside the box. Last year we were trying to walk the ball into the net but we have had a few goals recently by or caused by a shot.

Gerrard was a good hitter of the ball so that may be his influence.

I haven't really noticed, but my problem with this is that we never recruit players who are good at long shots. I think we should always have a long shot specialist in the team. I wouldn't say any of our standard midfield 5 are good at long shots. Dorrans is pretty good, Halliday is decent at it too and probably Defoe but aside from that I think I'd rather they didn't unless there's a genuine opening.

Recent, incessant and wholly correct  criticism of officials, has exposed most as members of the Orange Order, the Black Preceptory, and the Apprentice Boys,  and as practising Freemasons, too. That these facts are treated as newsworthy is surprising, given that they have been in the public domain since 1888.

 

Am I right to worry that the opposition tonight will endeavour to kick our lads off the park; that it will feel able to do this with impunity;  that it may well be correct in this belief; and that the tactic, in consequence, may be successful? Or should I have more faith in Bro. Madden, et al. to display true Presbyterian grit and moral fibre, and officiate the game properly, in the traditional manner, without fear, and in favour of Govan's Chosen Few?
