... well, Helander was a rock in defence and all his forward play - despite the conditions - was also good.

All in all, it was hard to judge the players on that pitch and all the rain. Many first touches and anticipated flights off the ball were off and it took some time to get used to it.

Zukowski did well enough on his debut, as did McCann. Amad needed some time in his rather strange central creative role. Dunno why he played through the middle as a right winger, while our left winger was again stuck out on the right.

Aside from the result, the most important thing is that we returned home with no injuries.

Quite difficult to make a choice for several reasons. Weather conditions, poor TV film coverage and, unusually, 16 players to choose from!

It was really encouraging to see so many of our younger players (King, McCann, Lowery and Zukowski) get a chance. Noticeably both McCann & Lowery thanking the manager for the opportunity in RTV interview. I'm getting a vibe that perhaps there is more of an opportunity for youth to flourish under Gio's team? From the 5 (?) who played the whole match I thought Sands was particularly solid so opted for him.
