Yeah, the Bruges thing was a real bummer.

Despite the constant schimfs about the colony of vicious penguins that protect Bruges waterways, she was prepared to be taken in by Kayak. It was a double paddle approach, Pieter Huistra being the proposed back thruster.

What would a para know about the old double paddle approach?  Been reading up on your Cockleshell Heroes again ?

Huistra was our only successful thruster that night. We really should have won the game.

  • Rousseau changed the title to CL Third Qualifying Round Draw: Union Saint-Gilloise vs Rangers

Union Saint-Gilloise's recent pre-season games saw them draw 0-0 with Brighton, draw 1-1 with Sporting and pump Feyenoord 0-4.

This will be a tricky tie.

A difference is that they are a couple of weeks ahead of us.

Have played 6 friendlies.

We are at 2 and a half.

They start competitive competition this weekend, with a league game.

Old Army mate married a Belgian girl and opened a Boutique Hotel in Blankenberge.

Anyways, Tam is a Hibee and we have remained in occasional e-mail contact over the years. He was most impressed with Union Saint-Gilloise last season, a real surprise package. As Bluedell has alluded, they have the same owner as Brighton and Hove Albion, Tony Bloom. There had been a cross pollination of players, two of Union's most important, influential players were Mintoma and Undav. They have both been returned to Brighton for this season. Tam was impressed with their front three, all fluid and rapid. He claimed the top Belgian sides had more success later in the season, denying supply of the ball to the front three.

I don't suppose anyone knows of anywhere I'll be able to watch the home tie in Salonika (Google not providing any results)?  Was hoping we'd be at home first.

Last resort would be to watch on your phone or other device possibly using VPN and RTV

League leaders in Belgium last season for the best part of the season, got pipped for the title by Brugges in a silly title play-off ... being promoted to the top tier in that very season. Dunno how many players they have lost, but that IMHO is the worst possible draw.

Perhaps the fact they did so well in their first season in the top Belgian division after promotion doesn’t say much about the Belgian domestic league

The top Belgian players all play outside Belgium
