To say I'm 'happy' with the squad would be a stretch, but I maintain that it is, on the whole, fine. Is it the transfer targets themselves? In that case it's Wilson, although the manager does have an input. Certainly during this last window, the players have not strengthened the first team, in the sense that they're not getting into the first team. That's a failure. I would certainly blame Wilson for signing players that are injured (i.e. Souttar and Davies). We were all generally happy with the profile of player we targeted: a mix of young players, that looked talented, with a high ceiling (Yilmaz, Matondo); alongside older ones that could go straight into the first team (Colak, Lawrence). That's Wilson's domain. I really don't think they're bad targets. (That's not to say I was completely satisfied with the business: we were, and still are, lacking at RW and a #8, etc.) Or, is it the manager's inability to utilise them? That's all GvB.
