I'd take van veen, bloody good player, free transfer, low wages, a good couple of years in him yet, at least. I'm not saying he's I'm any way as good, but Caniggia didn't too badly for us, did he?.

 

He's very good playing the lone striker, for a pretty poor team.

 

A far better shirt filler than Roofe, at least he'd turn up.

Keep forgetting Roofe is still with us. If he had remained fit, he would have made a big difference IMO.

I don't think Van Veen is the sort of striker that fits Beale's system, or we would have seen more of Colak, injury aside

Van Veen has had a decent season with Motherwell, but it's his first for a few years. He's the definition of a journeyman and at 31 years old Motherwell is the highest level he's ever played at. I could see him doing a job for Aberdeen or Hibs but I think he's miles away from what we need.

Not sure he has a hope of getting anywhere near the first team. Probably just renewing to sell him on for a nominal fee after a year on loan somewhere
