You say balancing the books is required now and again, but where does the cash come from in the year where we want to overspend? Borrowing cash got us into trouble before and I'm not sure who would lend us, say £10 million.

Our best way out is with a manager who can spot stars and bring them in cheaply, and build a successful team that way. With Cantwell and Raskin, I was hopeful we had that, and maybe the other players brought in recently are good but need another manager? Other than that, it's not an easy answer. I'm sure our directors have been trying to come up with a solution.

Yes, I remember the 2020 AGM, when they outlined the 4 pillars:

1. Tickets sales (we've done our bit there I'd say).

2. Commercial (Bisgrove increased that from a low base, but there's much more potential).

3. European income (We have had a few good years, the EL final run and CL qual. is about our limit), but we're not going to get that unless we invest in a manager and team that can achieve that success.

4. Player Trading (one decent year when we sold Paterson, Aribo and Bassey), but again is linked with success on the park. This year was poor because we held onto players too long and we were shit last year.

The last two pillars have the most potential - but they need to find investment somehow to make those happen. And when they do, they need to continue to strengthen and go again. Hoping our managers have fairy dust or a magic hat, or hoping our rivals slip up, won't get us to where we need to be.

I find it interesting how Raskin and to an extent Cantwell have gone well off the boil since last season. Perhaps suggesting this manager isn't creating the constructive dressing room the players would like to see. I suspect there are some unhappy players in our squad.

Yeah, there's been a few rumours suggesting that players' family members have been saying that.

Anyone watching Rangers' travails over the years must recognise the symptoms of a dressing room at odds with the manager. There can be no hope of success if that's the case .... and only one way forward.

If they were going to sack him during the break, they'd have done it already.  I suspect we'll have to wait until there have been another one or two bad results before he's gone...which might not be far away.

Yeah...

I've heard some fans took the week off work and hung up flags and bunting to celebrate his sacking.

Not me, though...
