Especially right now when we have one of the biggest Rangers men in the dugout, and he's utterly shite. Let's no beat about the bush. Can't work out how to beat Scottish teams either.

I remember seasons when for about a week Carlisle United and Northampton Town were in first place in the old League Division 1 as the EPL used to be called. They and the clubs mentioned by @Gribz except maybe Bolton Wanderers are never going to make it but the likes of Sunderland and a Sheffield club should. If Sunderland win or draw tonight I will be pleased and even more if they go up but if ever a team is going to bottle, it’s Sunderland and if ever a team is going to knock the bottle off the wall it’s Coventry.

Not so sure. Inter have Lazio at home next who are going for the CL places while Napoli go to Parma who are near the bottom. Last game Inter go to Como who have won the last 6 and Napoli have lowly Cagliari at home.
-
Yes. He eventually won the league, bless him, in propitious circumstances, failed to take advantage of that in the following season, left suddenly and failed in Brum and Saudi. Rangers need somebody who has been round the track, can command the players, get the team to a league championship and consolidate on success. When that’s been done, bring in a maestro. Who that manager is I do not have a clue.

Don Carlo will leave RM and assume control of the Brazilian National XI. Who better to advise/recommend/give a heads up on up and coming Brazilian players to an up and coming manager in Europe? Just a thought. Another thought (oh, yes, there was a distinct rattle in the old napper this am): everyone talks about a profitable player development and trading model, which is important -vital, even- but if Ancelotti Minor is appointed, and is successful, it is likely he will be offski to higher status, more lucrative, pastures. How quickly would depend on his actual, and perceived, successes. (In fact, this would be true of any manager/coach.) Hence, there is, surely, a requirement to develop coaches: smooth, seamless, controlled, transitions being preferable to crunching the gearbox. It may be necessary, through failure, to redd out the off field staff, but, of course, the Club is in control of that kind of process, which it wouldn't be when some 'super club' offers to treble salaries, unless a line of succession is in place. Ancelotti is the bookies' strong favourite this morning, at 1/3. Of course, Stevie G was that price 10 days, or a fortnight, or so, ago. Cave: these markets are volatile.

Hope not, but think Napoli will end up bottling it.

The list goes on and on.....Huddersfield, Blackpool, Cardiff, Wigan, Portsmouth, Swansea. Not to mention Oldham, Barnsley and Bolton early on in Premiership era. Yet Brighton and Brentford have rid the storm and perhaps Bournemouth are stabilising aswell.

Looks like he only got his Uefa pro licence in 2023 at a course in wales, Apart from the name he has just followed in his fathers footsteps. On the plus side he is trained as a fitness coach 😂 I’m unsure tbh do we need someone inexperience to rejuvenate our club? Who ever our next manager is there needs to be a structure in place and Barry Ferguson is the man to lead the role for whats expected at Rangers.

Of course we don't but the lad certainly seems to be knowledgeable and hard-working going by his coaching career so far. Yes, we need more than those two traits if we're to become successful again but as much we should be wary of any possible nepotism (or indeed cronyism), neither should certain associations automatically rule people out. FWIW, I'd much rather have a more experienced new manager - one who has demonstrated they can win things on a regular basis - but Clement's CV reflected that to a degree and that went pear shaped rather quickly. In any event I can't affect the outcome so I'm just hoping whoever we appoint hits the ground running.
-
It seems every few years a EFL club gets lucky and gets into the PL and hits the big time, then just vanishes for years. Birmingham, Hull, Luton. Are Bristol City next?
-
True. Either he is a nepo baby riding his dads coat tails or he has something about him. We will find out in time.

Poll 2: Electric Boogaloo: Who would you prefer to be the new manager?

Should only get one vote, then in the future when someone says 'Always wanted such and such" we can consult the vote and see if they're lying bastards imo. -
I hope so. A 2-1 lead is awkward but they know Coventry have to come at them at some point. Stadium of Light should be buzzing.

Not a dig, but I reckon the question is who would you 'prefer' to be manager rather than 'like' to be manager with the current rumours and options. I think I'll put Ancelotti and Gerrard as 1 & 2. I'd say they are more likely to draw a better standard of player and Gerrard does know what it takes to win the league. Edwards, Martin and O'Neil are a nightmare for me. -
Erm.. Stevie G had to learn here after just being youth coach at L'pool.. A much bigger gamble I would have thought.
-
Not a dig at you buster, but I see many hoping for Muscat. I cant really understand why. I admit I have never seen any of his teams play or looked into his playing or recruitment styles. But winning J-League doesn't really appeal to me as a great success, and the Chinese league is probably fixed to control betting markets.
-
Yeah Im in a lot of agreement with this, and to be honest Ange had a winning and strong mentality whereas I always thought Gio and Clement were a bit weak. I think Advocaat disproved it also when he came in. But its clear our problems lay with domestic form against teams we should be beating - this year St Mirren, Hibs and Motherwell.

Thats fair and if he gets the job then he gets (at least from me) the same backing as any other manager would... until such time as he doesn't deserve that backing. But we all know how fickle supporters are, and I just worry he would be on the back foot from the beginning.
