The Rangers Summer 2025 Transfer Rumours and Deals - Thread
CammyF replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't think it's all to do with our "track record". Look at the Billy Gilmour scenario, Chelsea basically made it impossible for the lad to turn down the move. We simply can't compete with that these clubs can offer. -
Dave King, despite what some Rangers fans say and think, is close to the discussions and will know where the process stands. Also, it's been widely reported in fan media that the conclusion date is end of May / start of June. We haven't reached the end of May yet, still a week to go, and as someone once said, a week is a long time in football.

The Rangers Summer 2025 Transfer Rumours and Deals - Thread

We’re very amateurish when it comes to transfers look across the city they paid a big fee for Engels now they could be moving him on for three times that amount . -
Neil Warnock as his assistant?
-
I want Sunderland to win but reality tells me Sheffield United are the better side. I hope the Lads prove me wrong. One thing for sure Wembley will be raucous unlike the usual garden party atmosphere.

Times marching on time to send for Sam

Everything might be hunky dory but as it stands, you don't know that for sure. As for Dave King, for all the good he has done he has shown that he can't be trusted and sometimes isn't as clever as he thinks he is (eg. v Ashley/SD).

Big game tomorrow can the blades beat the makems these are usually good games so I’m giving up an invite to Haydock races to stay home and watch it .

He is very highly rated so wouldn't be surprised if he gets a move sooner rather than later. -
At long last, after waiting fifteen years he’s signing for celtic. I expect the Jap tour can go ahead now. Since I’ve mentioned them (confusion be upon them) they don’t have a problem banging in goals against the Aberdeens and Kilmarnocks and Dundees and other ‘bus parkers of the world.

Nothing is holding up the process, other than the complexities of any takeover. Didn't Dave King say everything is moving along and all that was outstanding was getting the footballing authorities "blessing". The timescale for completion was always late May, early June. Maybe it's all down to that word that gets banded around in here, patience......

Interesting..

Nail on the head and makes these threads more or less pointless

We are in a state of transition with what has to be a less than straightforward decision making process. Until AC&49ersVC actually become 51ers, I'd expect things to stay less than straightforward. Question I'd ask is what is holding the takeover up? Is there difficulty in getting to 51%, paying off loans, price of shares, simple administrative/legal tasks, etc...... But we don't know. Whether it takes 2 more days or weeks to get a manager pales in importance to making the right choice. IMO, Gerrard wouldn't be the right choice.

We played the best football I've seen us play when SG was here that season, as John says, our press, movement and passing was outstanding. He also set us on the way to being a very good EL level side, which we've kinda kept going. I'm not sure I want to see us go back to him though (we go back to folk too often) but wouldn't be gutted if we did. Gonzo is spot on too, he wasn't all conquering, or a fud, as ever the truth is somewhere in between. What he's done since he left is of little relevance to me, in fact I think his Villa spell will strengthen him as a manager. Smith, Souness and McLeish all did poorly in England after leaving us. I don't think he'll get it though, I'm not convinced that anyone has a clue who's really in the running.
-
Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I've ever been truly entertained by a Rangers side - outwith wins, but that's because we've won rather than how we've won.
-
We saw Beale, I do not believe for a second that he was the tactical genius behind it all.
-
Effectively this is where I'm at. I'd rather someone new, I'm probably in the Ancelotti boat.
-
In Europe, we definitely did yes. Domestically I'm not sure we did, but take @Gonzo79's point about Scottish football and low blocks in general. Although I though we focused too much on possession based football versus the diddy teams, which can play into their hands. And after watching the Livi v Ross Country game last night, I think its impossible to host a good game on those rancid plastic parks. Don't think I've ever seen one. So that's a pass for Gerrard on those games. @Rousseau will be the expert here, and may have some xG stats squirrelled away somewhere which will prove me right, wrong or indifferent. But if I recall correctly, outside 55 our chance creation under Gerrard & co was very poor. Edit - important note, I'm not saying good football is not conducive to success (see Walters second spell for reference).

Yup, I think this is the case too and, hopefully, Mr. Gerrard is posting on Social Media his 'legs by the pool' snaps because he is no longer in the process
-
He will 100% be involved, he has been to a ton of games, going as far back as our trip to Old Trafford. He was seen with Marathe and Thelwell as they visited Ibrox 2 weeks ago. At a guess the process is well down the line, the club have a #1 option they want to get signed and sealed, but have another few options keeping open in the background.

My memory must be failing me because I thought we played decent football under Gerrard. I remember seeing us doing that short pass in the box from a by-kick thing for the first time under him and being amazed, I just thought teams like Barcelona could do that. Some of our passing football under Gerrard was excellent I thought. Which of the coaching team was responsible for it I don't know, but I enjoyed watching us then. There was a goal against Benfica (I think) where we passed it from our own by-line all the way up to their box playing right through their press. I mean there were disappointments too, but I thought on the whole we played decent football.
