  1. I do not know what problem 2 Hollywood stars, American based VC firms, Saudi investment fixes. For me we are in the mess we are in because we have not recruited properly on the footballing side or in the footballing operations department. We have spent money badly. That is the problem. More money does not fix that problem. Especially when that money comes from somewhere that focuses on ROI. The fix to our issues is easy. Do better with the money we have.

  2. No reason to doubt Stevie's info so, as much as we'd arguably prefer gambling firms weren't key sponsors, this appears a very good deal for the club in a financial sense.

  3. Exciting player in the penalty box. My wife knows nothing about football and can’t understand why men waste time on it but she was so impressed by Schilaci, she called one of her cats after him.

  4. Certainly if we were to go down the ManCity and Newcastle route, we would have lost the soul of our club.

  5. Agree 100% Tony Bloom of Brighton is sniffing about Hearts at the moment and most of them seem up for becoming Brighton and USG's feeder club. Bizarre mindset.

  7. Italian icon Salvatore Schillaci, the top scorer at the 1990 World Cup, has died aged 59. The death of the 1990 World Cup golden boot winner was confirmed on Tuesday morning, just over two years after he was diagnosed with colon cancer.

  8. £3m a year including incentives would be really good tbf. I still think we'll all look back on this era of betting sponsorship in football and cringe in years to come though. I'd be interested to know if the club have been talking to Castore about a renewal. We were the springboard for them breaking into the market so you'd think we could achieve a similar rise in a kit deal. Although I think a smaller rise but bigger royalty/commission (idk how to put it) on our sales might be more fruitful. The club would rather a bigger guarantee though I'd imagine. I find football finance and business, sport business in general, more and more interesting these days. Maybe it's just growing out of loving transfers and wanting to know what's behind it. Or just getting older!

  9. Good or bad is entirely up to your viewpoint. I'm merely explaining why they are in a far more 'investable' position than we are.

  10. We seem to be back to where we were in 1976. There must be some Hollywood titans out there who can see our potential; after all, 2 stars (whom I've never heard of) settled on Wrexham, a club with a limited fanbase.

  11. Fan media are certainly suggesting that he was and it was him that pulled out.

  12. Can't help but think Emery's Villa are what Clement is trying to replicate with us. They're not proactive in the press, play with a no 10 and a direct style of play. What Villa do consistently that we don't is fire it through the centre into their teammates who have the confidence and technical ability to trap it, turn and play forward again. The only one doing that on Sunday was Barron and funnily enough it was when we were playing our best stuff. If our lads just creeped out of their shell a wee bit and were consistently proactive we'd be a side transformed.

  13. I reckon that's why we've had a slow start tbh, aye it's been a big turnover but we've got a lot of young and inexperienced players in the XI and match day squad now. I'm quietly confident that we've got the beginnings of a decent side. Let them live a European campaign and title challenge this season and they'll be better for it.
