I lived just along the road..... I will be expecting Matin Bain at my door with a bumper contract offer - don't worry though lads, I will manage to talk him into a huge pay-as-you-dont-play deal.....

We should be looking at a new "Funniest User" winner too. The encumbent is a sour-faced, serious plod these days I hear :fish:

I thought that both teams were poor over the 90 mins. They had the better of the 1st half and we had the better of the 2nd half. Going on decent chances created we probably had the better of those but only because we forced Boruc into making saves (he had a couple of saves to make) whilst the chances Celtic created they didnt get shots on target, although they should have. I would therefore agree that if any team deserved to win it in 90 then it was us. But Celtic won it so they deservedly deserved to win it :fish:

If the SFA rescinded it can they also perhaps manage to get us into the EPL ? Nice one Jon I think that it would be reduced to yellow, but not sure.

45 seconds in....... pretty sure I saw your hooped hoodie S_A

Paddy Crerand having a go at Rangers and Broadfoot. His "team" are no better than ours. Knob ! Former Celtic star Paddy Crerand has described Rangers as "dreadful" and branded Ibrox defender Kirk Broadfoot a "Junior" player. Crerand played for the Parkhead club in the early sixties before joining Manchester United where he was part of the Old Trafford side which won the European Cup in 1968 against Benfica at Wembley. The former Scotland international keeps a keen eye on the Hoops although he is still based in England and scoffed at suggestions that Celtic had blown their chances of retaining the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title by only drawing against Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday when a win would have taken them five points clear of the Light Blues. Pointing back to last week's Co-operative Insurance Cup final between Celtic and Rangers at Hampden in which the Parkhead side deservedly won 2-0 after extra time, Crerand was scathing of Walter Smith's side and of Broadfoot in particular. "Celtic will win the title," he told Talk Sport. "I watched the League Cup final between Celtic and Rangers last week and Rangers were dreadful. "Who is that player Kirk Broadfoot? He should be playing Junior (non-league) football. "You've got to ask, is that how far Rangers have gone down if he is playing for them? "But when you look back to the Scottish players in my day, then the standard of football up there is dreadful."

True, but Hutton is proven. Mendes for Hutton....... seeing as Harry is so "high" on Mendes!

As BD says, the biggest problem is getting people to part with so much money, regardless of the "discount" on offer. There is a huge fear factor in global economies right now and people who felt they had "jobs for life" no longer can feel that way (RBS, Ford, GM etc would have been those type of jobs) and whilst lack of spending is exacerbating the problem the reality is that people are fearful for their jobs, livelihood and general existence. Although many of us are very committed supporters (more committed than the club hierarchy in many aspects) the reality is that a season ticket at Ibrox is a "luxury" item that can be culled in the event of loss of income. It would be a difficult expense to rid yourself of due to the emotional attachments but when it comes down to it people will want to save their homes rather than their ST, in all likelihood. The uptake of this would not be significant IMO.

Agreed on all fronts. Is nowhere near the aministrative nightmare one might think. Is easy to administer from an accounting perspective and is not a burden from a budgeting perspective either. The only thing that would worry me is that the club would use the money as short-term spending rather than, obviously, banking it for the season it is meant to be for (2010-11). Whilst this makes no sense our club has not always had the proper fiscal management it should have...... SDM could use it to pay down loans, thereby reducing the interest costs but there is a two-fold problem with that. 1) the following season the income isnt there, resulting in us having to go back for finance and 2) that would assume that finance is available. It would certainly make sense to utilise the cash to clear down some of the debt though......

I would still like to see Mendes beside Kevin Thomson - that partnership had lots of potential until KT's season was ended.

Lets stay away from personal insults lads. I was supportive of seeing Levein taking the post but the more I see of him the more I dislike him. He is as bad at deflecting blame as WS is.

Man U will be going all out for all 5, there is no doubt about that. Which could play into Liverpool's hands in the EPL. That said, I agree Cammy, I still dont see Man U bottling it - they have had a couple of blips but are still in front with a game in hand.

I think it was more than "possibly" harsh. As BD says, Friedel couldnt get out of the way, PLUS there was a Villa player stride for stride with Torres and there was no guarantee that Torres would have beat him to ball. It was one of those instances where common sense really should be applied. It was harsh anyway but the game was already over as well. Penalty should have sufficed.

Goughie is a legend, no doubt about it. It may be me but Barry Ferguson could NEVER be thought about in the same way that Gough is. Gough respected the position he held and did nothing but his utmost to give that position the respect it deserved, I dont get that same feeling with BF. Gough epitomised Rangers for me, Barry Ferguson doesn't.

Agree with your first statement - last season I always felt that our negativity and lack of creativity would cost us the title, sadly that was to be the case as, when it came to the business end of the season, we didn't have the class to see it through. Saturday, by all accounts, was a decent hour's performance - but a game lasts 90 minutes. That said, I would prefer we were performing well and dropping points than performing the way we were last season and struggling to create chances. Not sure that merely because we threw away a lead whilst they fought back for a draw can allow is to determine that we are the better team. Utd have caused BOTH us and Celtic huge problems this season. We can't really make any such determination due to one game either. Neither OF team is a very good team. This league will be decided, IMO, on who is least worst and, dare I say it, some luck too. If luck comes into it then surely we are due more than they are after the amount of luck they had at the start of the season ?

I thought Friedel's red was harsh. That said the game was over by then.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish: I'll be back in for Rangers striker Kris Boyd
craig replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
What predicament Jon ? You are as entitled as the next person to give your opinion on Boyd. Thing is, since the Jan transfer window closed, he has given us NOTHING. He is out of form and should therefore be dropped. -
Gers 1-2 Hearts...........

I am up 25 quid (FA Cup) but looks like you will win the EPL bet (50 quid).
-
Not really. Decent bet but I still fancy Man U.
-
I think Liverpool are 6/1
-
100 quid nets you 175 profit. Not too shabby. Barca would also comfortably take care of Villareal and Porto IMO. Arshavin is cup tied. To be honest I paid close attention to him at the Burnley game and he looked very unimpressive to me. No pace, not really interested in getting into the game, his touches werent great. Hopefully he is just trying to find his feet in the English game. At Zenit I thought he was an incredible player. I can't see past Man U even given the result last weekend. That said, Bayern have to be a dark horse, a 12-1 aggregate win at this stage of the competition is VERY impressive, regardless of the opposition.
-
And by the way...... that Liverpool performance against Real was the best performance I have seen from any team this season (didnt see the Pool/Man U game so cant compare).
-
Yes but Man U, Chelsea and Barca also have experience in that competition. In fact, it can easily be argued that Man U and Chelsea have better experience because they contested last years final with pretty much the same team as they have this year. I think it will be an English final too - I just think Barca will come up against an English team who are hard to break down and they will lose a goal themselves. Skybet are offering 7/4 for an English winner. Sorely tempted.
-
They are a decent bet for the CL, but certainly no better a bet than Man U, Barca or Chelsea. They NEEDED the win on Saturday whilst Man U didnt. Not saying Man U didnt try but I suspect we would see a different result in the CL. I am not convinced I would say Real are one of the best teams in the world (depends on how far you go). Wouldnt take anything away from them though, they blew Real out the water. But the only realistic chance they have of silverware is the CL, and they face some very stern competition for that.
