Where did I say that you had to agree with me ? Am I not allowed an opinion on the subject because it doesn't conform to what you think ? Or do I have to finish every post with "in my opinion" ?
-
Gallas is still a quality player but definitely shouldn't be captain - he doesn't motivate any of his team-mates as Lauren says. He also somehow seems to be involved in more than his fair share of cock-ups which cost Arsenal points. I would have Toure as Captain I think.
-
The # of pens Liverpool could have had is irrelevant, they won the game comfortably - the question was never about that, it was about Gerrard trying to con his way to a penalty. Friedel had already pulled out the challenge and Gerrard knew that 1) he couldn't get a telling pass in from the position he was in and 2) he had played the ball too far ahead anyway. He tried to con a penalty.
-
No apparently about it, you DO have an agenda because you are an Arsenal hater ! I am not a Liverpool hater but you are doing a pretty good job of pushing me that way
-
But I am not a Liverpool fan so why would I have motives on the penalty incidents ?
-
If you say so Jon. No way was it a penalty, Friedel never touched him until Gerrard made contact. Maybe you should check the prescription in those rose tinted specs
-
No Sir, Friedel's leg wasnt past Gerrard's oncoming leg, not from where I was sitting. He made the contact AND made the most of it. Definitely not a penalty from what I recall.
-
Or if your name is Sir Alex - seems the main man himself said Arsenal didn't deserve to lose - it is only the Arsenal haters who refuse to see sense..... not surprising really.
-
Re Gerrard, NONSENSE. He did a Kevin Thomson. Take your rose tinted specs off, Friedel had already pulled out of the tackle and Gerrard, like Thomson, made the contact himself. Take what kick ? Friedel wasn't leading with his feet and had already pulled out the tackle. Also, Re Gerrard and the barging off the ball - take your rose tinted specs off again - the barge was clearly outside the box. Blackburn should have been down to 10 men, sure - but it was never a penalty.

1. Prso, Boumsong ? Didn't do too badly with them did he ? 2. Everyone KNEW that McLeish wanted to work in the EPL long before he took the Scotland job so why all the annoyance when one came up ? Why should he show loyalty to the job when he never hid his wish to work in the EPL ? 3. I don't think he did underestimate Georgia, they simply were better than us on the night - and they had given us a tough run at Hampden too - just because you dont win doesnt mean you underestimate a team. Georgia arent a bad team and we are by no means world beaters. Regarding Italy there is no saying that we needed to win that game, a draw forced France into needing a result, which was not a foregone conclusion - hindsight is a wonderful thing to have a go at him but had we secured the draw against Italy and France then lost he wouldn't have got nearly as much stick for playing out a draw. I think as a support we are far too harsh on Eck given the restraints he worked under. And under those restraints he 1) gave us plenty of trophies and 2) generated net INCOME from transfers which is something our club badly needed at the time.

Your bitterness towards Arsenal is actually really tiresome. Don't see too many comments from you on Gerrard blatantly cheating......
-
That is probably the most stupid statement I have seen you come out with Juff. So.... because he wasn't what you wanted or expected in your Rangers manager you wish nothing but ill on him in whatever job he takes thereafter ? As Fraser said, whether we played great OR shit football under big Eck the simple fact is he was what our club needed at that point - and he went and won 7 trophies whilst having financial handcuffs on, winning more trophies than his counterpart at Parkhead who is still revered by that lot. And even if he did use the Scotland job as a springboard - what is that to do with anything ? WS did the EXACT same thing so you hope that WS doesnt have any success because he used the National team job to further his career ? Every manager uses every job they are in to try to further their career, they wouldn't be ambitious otherwise.

You sure about that Pete ? I thought the SFA had scrapped that UEFA place and transferred it to the league...... Having said that, it seems from the league that they constantly talk about Motherwell and Dundee Utd fighting for the UEFA place so you could be right. No disrespect to QOS and everyone loves a fairytale but them being in the UEFA will only hurt the country's co-efficient. Ibroxian - I am all for David beating Goliath but if, as hoped, it comes down to Gers vs QOS where a win for the Gers will mean a domestic treble (or even the quadruple.....) then the Gers win it every time for me !
-
I predict Novo.
-
I could have worded better Ian - what I meant was that I know you are not a supporter of this "anti-football" nonsense.
-
Davis is fine for the 1st leg I think. Thomson and Ferguson are suspended
-
The anti-football comments are starting to annoy me now (not you Ian, the media who spout how we play anti-football)..... We play a system that is deployed across the continent - a 4-5-1 whilst defensive that quickly becomes a 4-3-3 when we have the ball. The only difference between us and the likes of Chelsea and Milan is that we don't have the same quality of player. But the style of play is NOT anti-football in my opinion, but rather effective football which makes a great deal of sense. If you play 4-4-2 then you have two strikers, both of whom are likely to ignore defensive duties when the ball is in their own half. With 4-5-1 and the 4-3-3 it is defensive when you dont have the ball and attacking when you do - nothing wrong with it, it is all part of the tactics of football and makes perfect sense. For an anti-football team it amazes me then that we have scored 3 away to Lyon, 2 away to Stuttgart and 2 away to Lisbon.... as well as 2 at home to Stuttgart and Bremen - not bad for an anti-football team !
-
I thought yesterday we would lose 2-0. This afternoon, as is the norm with me, the adrenalin and the confidence kicked in - backed the Gers for a cleansheet, no problem !
-
Thought you might say that. It is certainly plausible.
-
True Pete - but at the same time, by taking the booking now the only way BF or KT miss the final (if we are lucky enough to get there) is by getting sent off in the away leg. At least give the guy some credit, immediately after the game when he was interviewed he looked frustrated with himself. Don't forget that in the heat of the moment all he wanted to do was time waste and wasn't thinking about bookings or otherwise.
-
That was the best English I have ever heard Ferguson come away with !
-
If you looked at McCoist's reaction you would say there was no way they wanted him booked (even though it DOES make sense) - lip-reading McCoist said "what a stupid fucking booking". Afterwards ITV4 interviewed BF and asked him about the booking and he said "I don't know what I was thinking, just trying to waste time" and he genuinely looked like he was disgusted with himself. Hopefully we have to worry about players being booked for the round after this one.... what round would that be ???? Oh aye, that's right - the FINAL !!!!
-
I actually think him straying offside HELPED Whittaker - Cousin had to pull back into an onside position and that made it even more difficult for the defender to decide what to do - PLUS, it made Whittaker's decision easier because he knew Cousin had strayed offside so he had to go it alone. Who cares though ?!?!??! WATP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I offered 10 memberships last year BD, but I think (can't remember to be honest) that only 7 or 8 people asked for them. Will put up 10 this year as well, hopefully those that get the membership will see the benefit to all (I considered doing a lifetime membership instead, same cost - but if I get 10 members and one or two renew or take out the lifetime then the RST, the club AND the member benefit even more). Feeling flush having just got an additional bonus at work - don't tell the wife or the 3 yr old son though.....
