Bougherra and Diouf escape bans for Old Firm flashpoint
Bluedell replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Fair enough. Fines for their conduct seems an appropriate punishment. -
Do we still own the shares? if so, why don't they appear in our accounts? Do you think SDM would have resisted selling them before now?
-
If it was Kick It Out then I'm sure it would say that rather than FARE, so I don't think that we should assume that they are involved. Again I don't know that we should jump on the fact that Piara Powar is married to Mir and assume automatically that there's a link to this report.

Part of the problem is that people genuinely don't see anything wrong with them. What is wrong with the Famine Song? Scottish Celtic fans go along to Celtic Park and sing a song about the famine. Scottish Rangers fans sing a song telling them that the famine is over and why don't they go home. The irony is obvious but for some reason it's claimed that it's racist. It's not aimed at irish people, it's aimed at Scots, so how can it be racist? I just don't see anything wrong with it. If Celtic fans don't want to hear about the famine then stop singing TFOA. Likewise TBB. I learned it over 30 years ago and I don't believe I've ever equated the F word to mean RC in all that time.

It certainly seems strange that we have committed ourselves for another 7 years. Hopefully there are some break clauses in the contract during that period .- 10 replies

I doubt that they can do that given Azure is a third party.- 10 replies

Thanks for the info. Begs a few questions: 1. Why are Azure doing the refurb and not the club? 2. Just how long to Azure have left on their contract? Surely they wouldn't be spending £1.8m if it only had a year or two to run?- 10 replies

I think it's worse to sing about Celtic fans. You are singing about opposition fans and not some semi-mythical gang from the 20's or 30's that nobody cares about.

Findlay couldn't even put together a good case against the "Why don't you go home" chant, so i doubt he'd be much good here.

The biggest impact on the Pools was the National lottery. Our pools turned into the Rangers Lotto, which is still going, but now does the Rising Stars etc.

I agree with Stefanovich. It's a different era. Our staff costs in our 8IAR season were only £11m for example (Laudrup, Gazza et al) and only 3 years later they had jumped to £31m. The impact of the Champions League, Sky money and the Bosman rule mean it's a totally different world.

Presumably if they felt Rangers fans were flouting the ban then they could take tougher sanctions, such as no crowd at a home game.

Seems to be our fans at away matches, so presumably our next 3 European away games of any sort.

More likely that it's been removed as it doesn't mention SDM as being the real reason why we got NIAR etc.

It's his job to know what happens. He should be looking at every revenue stream and looking at what-ifs. It's standard stuff for anyone in his position. However the Sky money is immaterial. It wouldn't have made a dent in losses of £131 million over a 5 year period.

Some investment properties that were previously depreciated but are now been reclassified as stock.

The idea that Murray was a naive businessman getting the wool pulled over his eyes by big, bad Advocaat is laughable. Advocaat may have his faults, and I don't agree with your assessments, Pete or Calscot, but I don't see them as being relevant as they had no impact on Murray's decision to spend money that the club could not afford.

I've been involved with one. Just completed DD, about to finalise financing of an agreed 9 figure purchase for a client (many years ago) and an American company swoops in and purchases the subject for cash. A real kick in the teeth.

Or if you are able to transfer some fixed assets into current assets and avoid depreciation.

I'm not as convinced as MF that exclusivity would necessarily be granted. I could see Murray refusing to grant it as it's the sort of guy he appears to be. I've come across cases in the past when the seller feels he's in a strong position and it's not been given. However you would normally expect it to be available.

I saw Eddie Badabing making the same point. Who knows? It's possible.

The MIH accounts to 30 June 2010 have just been published and show a loss of £73m and net assets of only £7.7m. Not great reading.

Advocaat never promised us the CL title or that we would consistently get to CL semis. The rest of your post is total speculation, and doesn't really match up with Murray's claims at the time. Murray was relying on investment from a third party that never materialised. He was well aware of the financial situation and resorted to misleading shareholders at at least one AGM when questioned about the debt levels. Murray is a gambler as has been pointed out by another notable poster recently and that's why Rangers ran up the debt and why MIH has got itself into so much trouble. If it hadbn't been Advocaat, it'd would have been some other manager. As for speculation, I find the story that Murray only paid £12m for Flo as an ego boost when he was played by Ken Bates much more believable than your trophy wife explanation.
