You may be right but he hasn't been punished yet. The biggest punishment he could get would be to omit him from his CL shop-window, which is what he deserves.

So we allow Bougherra back in the team to increase our chances of winning, or do we make a stand against his liberty taking which could cost us a win? I go for the latter, and don't agree with this win at any costs. Our club has certain standards which need to be adhered to, which are more important than winning.

Mystery as Madjid Bougherra fails to return from qualifier

No man is bigger than the club. Leave him kicking his heels in the reserves for the rest of the season, if he starts acting up. -

Got to admit that I'm not sure what to make of it. As Calscot suggests, it seems to imply that no takeover is imminent. I've met McGill and he is obviously a trusted MIH man. Seems to be a straight swap for Wilson. Does anyone know anything about Muir? Is he a full time MIH employee or just act as a consultant to them? It sounds like he could be a good addition to the board. It's just a shame the official site hasn't been updated to see a bit more of his history.

No, but neither do a large proportion of Rangers fans. A small proportion on FF may, but are insignificant in the overall scheme of things. A much larger percentage of Rangers fans are sickened by the Scottish national team for a number of reasons, but that in itself doesn't take away from our Scottishness.

Our Scottish identity doesn't need to damaged, and can even be enhanced by moving. Cardiff clearly still have their Welsh identity, and is a USP when it comes to playing in England.

It's not all about money. It's about playing Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Aston Villa, Everton etc etc rather than playing Kilmarnock, Falkirk, Hamilton, Motherwell etc FOUR times a season. The additional cash is a by-product, but for me, it's about the increased attraction and our club testing itself against the best possible opposition. Our club is not all it can be, but there is still a limit as what it can be. Clubs with access to the EPL don't have that limit, and can aspire to bigger and better things. It just shows a lack of ambition not to want to test ourselves in a bigger and better league.

I don't think we are. I'd largely agree with that, and it's obvious that the media have a vested interest. As such I also don't think it will happen as I said before, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't. When have the media or the SFA ever been right about anything? It's not a case of making excuses, it's aspiring to be be more than we currently are. The rules are changing in Europe and our co-efficient is dropping. There could be further changes in the rules and we could find ourselves left even more behind than we are already. I disagree with that. Using that argument, we shouldn't be playing in Europe. Are you suggesting that we shouldn't try and qualify for the latter stages ensure that we dont have regular 3000 mile round trips, all of which during the working week? If we joined the EPL next season, we would sell out our allocation most weeks. If we are limiting ourselves to playing in the SPL because limitations in our support then that is quite sad.

I don't see our identity changing or being questioned if we joined an English league. The big difference betwen us and Holland or France is that we ARE part of the UK. It may not be currently recognised in football, although UEFA have given some acknowledgement of it when it comes to the Chapmpions League in the past. The fact that we are legally part of the same country makes all the difference as far as I'm concerned. We have been an integral part of the Scottish game, but there's no reason why we can't change. We need to evolve as a club and I don't see why part of that evolution can't be to test ourselves more in a far better league. I don't see the standard of other teams in the SPL improving, apart from the odd blip, and the bottom line is that it's boring, and will continue to be. I'd love for us to escape the mediocrity of Scottish football and be challenged every week. However I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Nicked from FF, but well worth repeating here. -
The RSA under its current set-up doesn't actually have any direct members either. It has groups that are members, eg the World Wide Alliance, The RST etc. The RSA is basically an organisation to represent supporters clubs, with a few bolt-ons (RST, Blind, Corporate) so it has different objectives and aims from the RST The RST "has a simple aim - to encourage and facilitate supporters of Rangers to buy and hold shares in the club in order to influence future decisions". However they don't appear to have done anything to promote this simple aim in the last 12 months. One could almost get the impression that Gersave is something that they could do without and gets in the way with the other stuff that the board want to get involved with. There could be a combined organisation that would deal with all of that, and be self-funding. If the RSA got the right people involved it could raise the £20K or so it appears to need each year....although I'm sure that their budget could be a lot lower if it had to be. Perhaps the recent moves that been referred to is the first step towards that? I don't know that all of the RSA members would be willing to pay to be a member, particuarly as you may find that more than 50% of "members" don't actually realise that they are members. Getting back to the original point on Gersave, I don't believe that there is the appetite in the support to invest a lot of money at this point. The club isn't in such a bad state that the support have to invest, and they are not going to put more money in on top of what they currently do without some greater vision from the club board as to where it's going. What's the incentive to put money in to see it spunked away on foreign mercenary who may not even be at the club in 2 years time? The club need show that they have a medium term aim and show how the fans' cash will be used in a postive way before they will invest. I don't buy Rising Stars tickets for a similar reason. I don't believe for a minute that £1 I spend will mean £1 more spent on Rangers Youth. Rangers Youth Development is under-funded and all that me buying tickets means is that the deficit become a little lower. The spending isn't going to increase because of it. There are problems with the supporters groups but until the Rangers board itself shows vision, the fans will not be reaching into their pockets on anty major scale.

He's a f****** hypocrite. No, it's not one thing to report it and another to become an active participant. He's not got the courage of his convictions and wants others to do his dirty work. -
I thought he was a bit harsh on Novo.

You can still dive even if you have been touched. Being touched doesn't give you carte blanche to throw yourself to the ground. Same ol', same ol' from the BBC.

Celtic Come To Ibrox - Where Is The Tight Security ?
Bluedell replied to fraser54's topic in Rangers Chat
There are different standards applied to home and away supporters. We are allowed to stand at Parkhead, for example, whereas I'd imagine their stewards would prevent them from standing for the whole game. Presumably to help prevent trouble, stewards don't apply the same level of rules to away support. -
The club shop had them last time I was in. Don't know if they would still have them as that was shortly after the new strips were released.

There has certainly been a lot fewer police on duty outside the ground over the past 12 months, particularly on issues like controlling the traffic. -
This is announced the day after the old firm game. Funny that. Yet more SFA capitulation to the forces of darkness.
