  1. Guess we can assume there was settlement fee paid to keep PLG quiet then! At least that's something we can take from it!
  2. Unbelievable.
  3. Stuart McCall is still being mentioned as part of our new management team btw.
  4. Papers today saying that they'd like Walter to continue until the end of the Euro qualifying, then step aside, which makes sense I guess.
  5. I've said Sebo should be given time, but I'm wondering if the new manager and/or DM will want to get the money back for him to reinvest in other players. There's too many ifs and buts just now, whoever the new manager is needs to be in place asap. Sort out who is going (Buffel for example) and get things moving.
  6. Early editions say we've now had 2 bids for Sebo from clubs who were previously interested in him but PLG said no. So, time to cut our losses with the lad and wish him all the best? I still think the Hibs two would strengthen our squad, I really hope we don't lose out on them.
  7. I think he played 4 or 5 first team games for Wigan and did alright apart from one error in a match they won. Don't think he was on a losing side in those games.
  8. Not sure, given what's been officially released, there's loads of different possibilities and conspiracy theories. I'm assuming Webster was one of the Scottish players identified by our scouting network, but one who PLG chose not to go for at first. Its not too far fetched to suggest that once he wasn't playing for Wigan that PLG thought he'd be worth getting on loan in January. I'm wondering how long before the media ask who is making the decision to sign these players with the agenda that if its Smith, that we could be done for tapping him. There is the other point of view, that our defence is blatantly shite and that DM has decided the guy would be worth a look at based on the views of the other coaching staff and scouts.
  9. If we have a new management team in place next week and make a few signings in the January window, then I think that's a pretty remarkable turnaround for a club of our size who has just lost a manager in the middle of a season.
  10. I do feel sorry for SDM sometimes, its often a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  11. It'll be interesting to see if we're still in for Brown and/or Thomson and what sort of figures are actually being talked about. I'm not sure why fans are moaning so much about us trying to buy the best players from other sides, is this not what used to happen since the start of Scottish footy until we went mad on foreign imports for a while? People are talking like its a new thing where the OF almost cherry-pick the best players from other Scottish clubs. Its always happened surely?
  12. This is a step in the right direction, but an older head might be required to play alongside him. At least the guy has SPL experience. I'm guessing its with a view to a permanent move at a fee which will be nowhere near the 800K or so Hearts knocked back. I still think that was a strange decision by them in this day and age of player power.
  13. I said the same, put Sebo in the reserves for a bit. It was baffling to see the bench in a lot of recent games having a couple of central defenders on it when we were crying out for a striker and an attacking midfielder. I don't know why the reserve team was so under-used by PLG, but its so frustrating to see someone like Ashikodi leave without ever getting a chance in the first XI. Even moreso when we've been struggling to score. Chris, both players have returned to Man Yoo.
  14. Dangerous precedent if that turns out to be true.
  15. Latest thoughts from the Beeb, entertaining as always. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/6231981.stm
  16. I still don't think the Ferguson thing was why he left. It might have been the final straw for DM, but it sounds like it was just a matter of when rather than if he was going to leave.
  17. Suitably vague statement! Would he turn down the chance to come back, I doubt it.
  18. There's been lots of rumours about PLG since last Autumn. His kids haven't settled, his wife hasn't settled, he's unhappy at the drinking culture, unhappy at the players not taking his diet seriously, he wants to manage PSG, he's unhappy at the players attitude to training, Scottish players influence etc etc. No smoke without fire maybe?
  19. How much did PLG actually spend in fees on these players?
  20. Was good to hear Durrant talking on SSN today, really positive pre-match stuff.
  21. I'm guessing Clement might go if PLG gets another job soon. As for Hemdani and Ferguson in the same midfield, that's never really worked in my eyes and Hemdani seems to almost be snuffed out by Ferguson.
  22. Yesterday the gossip was the McCoist would be manager, with Smith being here for 6 months to help him out. But today it looks like Smith will be the main man which makes sense and DM can't afford to take any huge risks just now.
  23. Just trying to be optimistic really! Problem with Smith keeping both jobs is that there could easily be a conflict of interest between his two posts.
  24. I think he'd be a good signing. I know I was disappointed we couldn't work out a deal for him last year (or was it two years ago?) and I think he's definitely better than the defenders we currently have, not to mention the fact that he really wants to play for us. What do people think, play him with Svensson, or will the new team be looking to offload some players and bring in a more experienced guy at the back?
  25. Ibrox is still a big draw, especially for Scottish lads who are fans. I think Smith has also gone up in players estimations following his work with Scotland, so while we're not on top, we're still in second place in the SPL with European football as well. I could think of worse places to go.
