Just imagine if our next 4 fixtures went something like this: Anderlecht (a) Porto (h) Feyenoord (a) Malmo (h) How much more appealing is that than the likes of Alloa, Livi or Morton? Or Hearts, Hibs and Keltic even? We'd be able to attract top players and have decent competition to raise our standard. Sod England - we'd come back in ten years and thrash them for refusing to let us join their league.
-
The Europa League should not be the height of our ambitions. We are a bigger club than Leicester city but because they come from a money spinning league they could be competing at a much higher level than us. Time for us to get behind the Atlantic League and ally ourselves with PSV Porto, clubs like that. Scotland is a backwater now.

Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020

That would seem to put the O'Halloran signing to bed now, at least till next season. -

Would be a cracking signing but don't see how we could afford him. -
This is what i don't get - has the SFA more or greater powers than say the English football authorities? The biggest thing against us is that dont need us
-
Guess you need to have some form of pyramid system with fast track qualification. This idea was first mooted some years ago by the then owner of PSV and seemed to garner a lot of support. his idea I think was to run alongside domestic leagues.
-
And is the Berwick analogy similar to Cardiff etc. i.e. was there a Scottish league in existence? Think there was. It' s a legal minefield but now I'd rather see us form part of a superleague to challenge the EPL etc.
-
That's why I see the Euro league as the way forward. Clubs like sporting Lisbon and Ajax have suffered because of the big 4 leagues. Even some of the swedish sides, Greek clubs all like us play in limited leagues. As regards the SFA, well money talks; they would have to allow us to exit the league - restraint of trade and all that..
-
You may laugh but Cardiff and Swansea are in the English Leagues and coining in much more money than us; you could argue a precedent has been set. Personally I feel we should join a pan-european league with the likes of PSV, Anderlecht etc., the Danish clubs. That would challenge the EPL and so forth.

And of those 3, two are not really good enough now and one remains unproven. Which is why I'm a little puzzled about O'Halloran - he's essentially a 'wing striker'. MW must be seeing Waghorn as the main central man . -
Thanks for help but simply de-installed Chrome and re-installed as per Frankie's advice and now ok.

What a great band. Now that's what I call a band - not these simpering boy groups.

Rangers First vote to offer club £500,000 loan

No, not Rangers response, just the way the result was assumed to be in favour before actual closure. But thanks anyway. -

I was emailed too, voted yes but then saw that the result had been announced, probably before everyone had the chance to vote. Not accusing anyone of anything but I would like to know how this was able to happen. -

SFA in sensible decision shocker. -
The modern game demands skilful players who are physically powerful too. Stark may have been a hopeless U21 coach but he is not wrong about small players having to be very good indeed to prosper. Look at England's young sensations, Barkley and Alli - they are not just skilful but good athletes as well. Where I differ from Stark is that if Holt is to be our no 10 can he and Law fit in the same team? Maybe one should be sacrificed for a defensive midfielder.

Rangers, Identity and Nationalism

Oh, dear, dear.. because the world is composed of nation states. Time to put this thread to bed; it has been hijacked by Daily Mail editorial writers. -

I'm sure he's been equally dismissive of the Tim fraternity too. A Falkirk supporter, he subscribes to the 'plague on both your houses' view. -
Rangers, Identity and Nationalism

Don't try and smear socialism with not very subtle allusions to Nazis. A real socialist is internationalist. As soon as you try to contain it within one country you get the kind of distortions found in stalinist Russia and China. Tony Forres, your best bet is to try to reclaim the Scottish Labour Party from the careerist types who have seized it, just as is now hopefully happening in England -

It's a bit of an oxymoron isn't it? A dichotomy has by definition I think to be equal: if one classification is false then they cannot be equal!? -

I usually have a lot of time for Waddell. He is not always against us, in fact he opposed the docking of titles but here he seems to be suggesting ground closures if I read between the lines correctly.
