  1. This is interesting. I have banged on about selected interested parties in both broadcast and print media being invited to lunch with the Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland last autumn. Cosgrove was breathless with excitement, before and after the event. The word from CQN was the LA had no interest in pursuing any parties for useage of the 'H' term. The appointment of fellow big, big Sellik man, Michael Mathieson as Justice Minister appeared to reinforce the dynamic. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of Nicola's office, when Frank and Mike are asked to contribute. Well done for taking such action.
  2. The caravan moves on, the Easdales' dogs', Jack and Bill continue to bark by proxy. Recovery of the club assets will be long and weary.
  3. I hope I am wrong, but I am becoming increasingly anxious about the choreography and mood music surrounding this latest furore. If we go back a decade and look at events surrounding Villarreal, an organisation headed by Piara Powar(married to big Sellik fan, Aasmah Mir) called FARE(Football Against Racism in Europe) reported Rangers on a number of counts. The evidence was accrued and presented by FARE, UEFA accepted it and began a series of punishments against Rangers. The thing is, with hindsight, we can see their was a number of journos in the know. The main man in the know, was Spiers. His product in both broadcast and print had been demanding punishment from UEFA and he adopted a 'told you so' attitude when it duly arrived. He reacted strongly and defensively when Bears wanted to know their accusers. There was no need to know, Rangers supporters should confine their energies to sorting the problem. The immediate linking of Chelsea supporters' actions on the Paris metro with Rangers was made pre-Collymore tweet, by Spiers on BBC Radio Scotland on Thursday. Cosgrove and Eamon O'Neill piled in too, and Friday evening's events reinforced the thrust. A weekend of the usual suspects predicting no action from the footballing authorities, has been justified by Doncaster's comments. 'A told you so' this time will see demands for UEFA to get reinvolved and greater powers to be prepared at Holyrood. Both Frank Mulholland(Lord Advocate) and Michael Mathieson(Justice Minister) are season ticket holders at Sellik Park. I can see another bigger stick being fashioned to beat Rangers.
  4. The latest stick fashioned to beat Rangers, includes some foresight and penetrative thought. I listened to Cosgrove on BBC Radio Scotland on Saturday and he levelled the accusatory finger of 'WHATABOUTERY'. Rangers supporters must own up to the problem and deal with it, without reference to what supporters of other teams are singing/chanting. Cause and effect has no relevance, Rangers operate in a vacuum. He added that the footballing authorities will do nothing as usual, hinting those in charge are predetermined to ensure calm waters for the good ship, Rangers. Further, Rangers supporters organisations like the RST should NOT issue statements reference Stan Collymore, they should stick to achieving club ownership. Michael Grant was a guest and he penned an article in Monday's Herald reinforcing Cosgrove's musings on 'whataboutery'. The Observer's Daniel Taylor weight in too, sectarianism is a peculiar Rangers problem and he could not help himself with a wee zombie reference. Delahunt and Keevins demand Friday night's events be treated in isolation, without added reference. The parameters of the debate have been determined before it takes place.
  5. Zappa, I provided the match preview for the Hearts abandoned game at Ibrox, could I ensure continuity of the re-arranged fixture on 050415?
  6. I thought I would share Radio Snyde's Objective Host of ra Show, Jim Delahunt's latest words of wisdom with fellow Gersnetters. After taking calls on another bout of sectarian singing by our on-message fellow Bears, Jim was impatient with Nuremberg Hugh's soliloquy and decided to grip the situation, "the Rangers Chairman, David Somers must make a statement on events at Stark Park". The Shugster correctly points out that Somers would not understand the subject matter. Undeterred, a strident Jim counters, "the Easdale brothers are steeped in both Rangers and west of Scotland culture, they should be making a statement on the matter, tonight". Who is more out of touch with the sensitivities of the Rangers support; the current Board or Jim(the thruster)Delahunt?
  7. I propose the Curate's Egg , 'good in parts' approach. Let's lift what is good from wherever it emanates, and utilise it for the greater Rangers support good. Why waste energy investigating the derivation.
  8. Craig Whyte's fortune hangs in the balance ...... Tip the scales.
  9. The current Board have always harboured aspirations to host a three-ring-circus.
  10. The Herald online community is a fetid swamp of Rangers hatred. It's the usual suspects, Yahoos, Dandy Dons, Jambos, Hibees, and Arabs. Constant ridicule competes with pyshing competitions ie 'we hate Rangers more than your lot'. It has been rehashed to hold on to their commenting community, which in turn has an impact on advertising revenue. It's an important factor, the Herald online commenting community(there must be a collective noun) hate Rangers more than the Hootsmon, P and J, Courier, ....... etc.
  11. From memory, Motherwell. I believe 'Well scored circa 120 goals that season.
  12. We had a lad on the supporters bus, his nickname was 'Vim', and he had a technique with a two bob bit(a florin). He opened the entire top of a can, and everybody had a vessel for the necessary. Ah, the terracing steps of Ibrox in full cascade! Warm memories.
  13. Aye Roy, your club is a stick-on for relegation, and it's NOT your fault. You spent big close season, brought in Dutch players on lucrative contracts, released them during the transfer window, and spent big bringing in another five players. It's NOT your manager, Jim McIntyre's fault, nor is it his deputy, Billy(I can no longer consider myself a Rangers supporter)Dodds fault. Certainly, it's NOT the fault of the denizens of Dingwall; ah mean, nearly 1,500 turned up for a recent home game against St Johnstone. Of course, it's somebodies' fault. The current path of least resistance is found in the mantra, 'it's Rangers fault'. Well, you've had your rant, and the creeping reality is next season, you'll be playing big, bad Rangers. I know you will change your tune when you are anxiously looking to off-load 8,000(over two games) tickets to visiting fans. I hope my fellow Bears remember your swinging of an ill-deserved boot and forego the trip up the A9.
  14. I await BBC Scotland's Chris McLaughlin's interpretation on this one. I am sure Toxic Jack will brief Chris, as usual.
  15. In 1976, a dozen of us from Strathclyde Uni' decided to travel on the Duke Street Bristol Bar bus, to Birmingham for a Saturday afternoon friendly against Aston Villa. The bus was leaving at midnight on Friday, after the pub closed. Approximately, 70 Bears loaded on to a SMT double decker. Accompanied by a similar number of cargoes. The Convenor explained there was a comfort five gallon drum on the downstairs back seat. He indicated drum and location using a funnel, which he placed in the small aperture. Obviously, a well rehearsed practise which avoided stops, and it worked well over the next three hours. Gradually, the bus fell asleep as it continued down the M6. Around Knutsford, a screaming match erupted as a few Bears waking up, went to use the service and discovered someone had crapped in the funnel. Loud recriminations ensued, and medieval threats issued, the culprit must identify himself. The phantom funnel crapper remains a mystery.
  16. I share your concern for the blogging scene. The main weapon being levelled is NOT the RST statement, but the Rangers Tax Case Blog. It was lionised and eulogised for two years by the usual suspects in both broadcast and print media. It was awarded the Orwell Prize. It was the constant ambient mood music to all things Rangers. Where is it now and whose mantelpiece displays the Orwell Prize? An objective appreciation of the Rangers Tax Case Blog would be a start to protecting the services provided by blogging.
  17. The Mrs McGuire mentioned? Is this Anne McGuire, MP for Stirling? Both her, and high profile Solicitor husband, Len were/are the controlling shareholders in Clyde FC.
  18. An excellent statement from the RST. Today, I read a piece in the middle pages of the Herald by their Chief Political Correspondent, Robbie Dinwoodie. He is the latest useful idiot to be utilised by the usual Yahoo suspects. Ra Bhoy in Corduroy must be considered hors de combat? Anyways, Robbie is a self confessed season ticket holder at Tynecastle; or as he puts it, "often referred to as the diet h-u-ns". He is concerned, the full fat variety(ie us) are lost souls, in a constant state of angst, and ready to boil over. He states, we attacked Hearts supporters and their buses at Ibrox a fortnight past, and Sunday at Hampden will be too much to bear. Oh, and we would find equilibrium if we ape those perfect maroon role models, 'the Foundation of Hearts'. It's lazy journalism without reference(I believe the combination of both RF/BR outnumbers the maroon effort); however, Robbie is clearly setting the ground and situation. There will be trouble and it will all be our fault. Next week, Robbie will tell what is left of the Herald readership, that there is a £450million hole in the Scottish NHS budget, and it's all our fault.
  19. I believe Steve Simonsen had a ton on us finishing the semi-final with ten men. Now, Craig Thomson has got the gig, Steve has banged on a grand we will finish with nine.
  20. Remember, MON's wife, Geraldine has a medical condition.
  21. Charles of Normandy in the pokey? Je suis Charlie. Throw away the Key Loyal RSC.
  22. Just a thought, can anyone indulge? We need short term organisation and work ethic, what is Billy Reid doing these days?
  23. Ah but, can the rest of SPFL management drive a team coach like Badyin McFadyin?
