One of the problems supporting an under performing team like Sheffield United the past few years is very few players get pass marks. Most of the squad are playing far beneath themselves for whatever reason. Davies will be a good signing for us I have no doubt. With him on board we are stacked at CB but really need a LB to cover Bornas periodic bad spells.

Yes we will miss him, but he has only played about 50 games for us. We would miss Tav, Goldson, Kent or Morelos more. We will also miss Aribo especially on the European nights.

If we get a big fee as reported for Bassey who only really played when Gio and co arrived then that is spectacular business by the club.

Usually fee is agreed in advance or option to buy is pointless. Any club can submit a bid for any player at any time.

I don’t think they can. I think when there is an option to buy there is a contractual obligation for the parent club to accept a pre agreed fee. In any case I can’t see an elite club like Bayern being remotely interested in any of our players no matter how well they play. They are on a different level completely.

I think if we can renew his deal we can improve him as a player, but regardless his contract expires 2024 so if he doesn't renew he needs to be sold next summer IMO.

I think he may be coming in to cover Hagi for the year. With a view to try before you buy. IIRC he is not due back playing until 2023 worst case scenario.

Needs an option to buy IMO or we are just blocking Lowrys path to the 1st team. Although Lowry can play wide too.

This is true and a massive problem. All 3 played a big part in the 55 year and all 3 were posted missing for most of last season. Our recruitment this summer seems to have focused on players who play for full seasons more often than not (yes footballers get injured, but there is a difference between picking up one off injuries and the issues Roofe and Jack have with knees and calf. Helander just very unlucky)
