  1. Craig, you don't need a 'fishing smilie' mate
  2. Who said they were. I hate them for greeting all the time about not getting a fair crack of the whip. Rangers have been denied with bad decisions for years, but Celtics always seem worse because their fans moan for weeks about it. I'm just amazed that by calling it as i see it Fairly, that someone seems to think i'm siding with them. Get real. That was a soft foul, but as i keep saying it was technically correct to disalow it and Conroy was right. All i'm really saying is that was a soft foul. I'm not really saying anything other than that!
  3. What i am getting at is it was a fairly soft dunt in the arm. Although, as i infered, a dunt nonetheless and therefore was a foul. I have a problem with the pansyness of football nowadays and would love to see it the way it was when i grew up as a boy. I'm not saying it was a goal, it wasn't. But it was a softish challenge but one which nowadays does draw a foul and therefore, as i said it was correct to disalow it. I have to say though, that view may be fuelled by myself enjoying seeing Celtic thinking they scored when they didn't. But, if Boyd went up with Buruc and he did what Fortune done to Boruc, i'd be pissed off too.
  4. Pat Nevin's word doesnt mean a thing to be honest, and you would have been aswell banging your head against a brick wall that giving your time to hear his "Professional analysis". Richard Gordon actually is fairly imaprtial in my opinion, for an Aberdonian. I listen to his opinions a lot on Radio Scotland and he always calls it as he sees it and fairly. He never seems to take sides, even if it is 50/50 for Aberdeen. On this call though it is a fairly soft decison to disalow the goal, i don't think theres any getting away from that. But, at the same time TECHNICALLY it Was a foul and even if it was a soft foul, it was a foul nonetheless and therefore as i said elsewhere Conroy was right and the linesman got it wrong.
  5. I'd like to see it from the front now. But i have to ask why the clip wasn't slowed down in any highlights that i've seen, as you have done. We all know other angles can completely change your views in an instant.... this one just has. I had been telling people we were lucky to escape this incident without losing a goal. I 'll tell the same people the ref was right. I have to say also i was quite cynical about Conroy refing this game, particularly as i'd heard he had a nephew playing for the Celtic Youth team(Ryan Conroy), but look the next time where Conroy is standing when this occurs. Also, it's him that gives it as a foul and he is standing looking onto the two players staraight on(the angle i'd like to view it at). So, in my book Conroy was 100% correct. Thanx for this clip
  6. Rotten advice i'm afraid. Fleck should be used much, much more than he is and i'm as disapointed as anyone. But if you think Smith is going to waste the best thing to come out of Murray Park then your sadly mistaken. I am flabeergasted by some of the people who completely underestimate Walter Smiths football knowledge. Just because he is not being used on the field of the first team the now does NOT mean that Smith is ignoring him. He will come good, but i think they are slowly easing the boy into a career at Rangers. I think he should be playing fairly regularly and i happen to think Smith is wrong in not playing him, but at the same time i have faith in Smiths nurturing of the lad.
  7. Yes. If you remember Smith brought two youngsters from Perugia over for a trial. They were Rino Gattuso and Luigi Riccio. Amazingly Gattuso played 40 league appearances for Gers and scored seven goals in the 1997-98 season and left after that to go to Salernitana.(Whoever made the call for him to leave should be shot) Young Riccio was 19 when he came over and stayed for 2 seasons from 1997-99 playing just one game, against Motherwell in May 1999. Shortly after that he left to join Bevern in Belgium where he made 5 appearances in two seasons. He then joined Italian minnows Pistoiese and made 14 appearances scoring once in 2000-01 season. After that he played with Ternana and then Ancona making 30 appearances in total. But it was with Piacenza he was finally succesfull with. In 7 years he made 240 appearances and scored 16 times. He was the Captain of the team for a while and they drifted from Serie B to Serie A for a few seasons. Aged 32 now, he plays for Serie B side Sassuolo. I think the boy was home sick and therefore his abilities were never fully put to the test in Scotland. It's a name no one hardly ever remembers but and interesting topic nonetheless!
  8. I wonder just how many Gers fans remember anything about this guy from the 1998 season? I think if we had've kept him he'd have gone on to make the Italian squad too. Anyone any thoughts or memories of him?
  9. I thought Calscots Monty Python quote was fantastic. Had me laughing. But then maybe i'm in the age bracket that remembers it
  10. I have his Admiral training top from when he played with Rangers. Just found it in the loft as i was clearing up. My brother got it from him at the training ground. Not sure wether he pinched it or not. Anyway, i thought he was excellent, but i always remember a lot of Gers fans getting irate with him because he beat the player down the wing, but would always turn back to beat him again. The fans were getting peed off cause he wasn't crossing it when he got the chance. If only we had a player like that now! I wish him good luck.
  11. yeah, but i did say "up there". So, i don't actually think he'll win it. What i'm really saying is IF he can maintain the form he has shown, even if it is to win a place in the U.S.A squad, he will be perhaps a contender for an award. Would be good, as it would mean he is playing out his skin which could only assist us in retaining the league title:spl:
  12. The way i see it with Beasley is he must've heard some vile abuse over the last 19 months. He was scapegoated and ridiculed and called the worst waste of money we'd ever spent by some. Now he's fit he has a point to prove and i kind of wonder what shirt he is playing for. Why should he show loyalty to the (minority?) of fans who shouted at him for doing nothing for nearly 2 years? Answer, they have payed his wages. I think he has his sights set on a U.S.A world cup place and thats why he is playing like he is now. He obviously was restricted because of injury before, but boy is he making up for it now. This is the real Beasley. This is the one who was signed by PSV from Chicago, and this is the one who Man City saw something in. If he can stay fit and continues to play the way he is, i won't exagerate when i say he'll be up there for the player of the year awards. BUT and it's a MASSIVE BUT, can he stay fit? Because as all Rangers fans know, he has a horrendous medical record.
  13. I'm quite suprised a few of you don't rate him. It's amazing how we in Scotland don't rate a youth from la liga when they had him down as a cracking prospect. I think the problem with Niguez was he was Spanish. An amazingly accurate assessment you may say? Obviously! But what i mean is that he was born in Spain, raised the Spanish way, and played a few games in LaLiga. He then came over here and was a bit too weak for our game. Wasn't accustomed to the game etc. He was like a deer in the headlights for a while. However, there's no denying he had the raw technique and if he had stayed the extra season with us, his Mentality and Physicality would've been polished up. It was unfortunate, but i thought he was just about getting there, albeit slowly beginning to make an impact. What he would have given us would have been the "Flair" that Walter has talked of that. He said we needed it last season and must've had options until the issue of no money came in. His pace was actually alright, i saw him skin more than a few people for the youths and reserves. But maybe he was lacking in confidence to re-enact that at such a big stage as Ibrox. But i think more than anything he had good technique on the ball, good dribbling and his view for a pass sometimes was scarily good. I agree with the guy who said he'll do well, although i think more it will be for a lower league club like a Vigo or perhaps the next level up with Villareal or the like. I'd certainly take him back anytime for Rangers.
  14. Anyone know how he's getting on and where he's playing these days?
  15. Whats the betting Rangers don't go for any of them? What a list of wonderful players. I just went through the lot, not for Rangers, but for my Football Manager 2010 game and hopefully when i get Leeds Utd promoted into the Championship i'll have a few of them on board. Cheers.
  16. Hi, i'm looking for some good crowd shots of the old East Enclosure to show how good it was to some friends abroad. Anyone got any good ones you can pop up on the forum for us? I'm looking for the years of around 1978 until when they ripped it up and put bloody seats in instead . Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  17. imo McMillan could do a better job than Whittaker.
  18. Once again, i'll reiterate that we should repay Hamburg for this with something for them to see. They really went out their way to wind up Celtic and their affinity with Rangers is really admirable.
  19. And when the African Nations starts, we are going to have this problem tenfold!
  20. In my mind all that list is telling me is what teams are being bankrolled by Milionaires
  21. Yup, but i bet Rangers wouldnt go for it. Right now, they just are not in touch with the fans needs and wants. We need someone who is a supporter working with the fans so we can get exactly what you suggest here Gribz.
  22. I agree with you Gribz. But we have to be careful here. Ok, yes Smith is a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to tactics, formations and subs. But, who do we replace him with, especially right now with no money? We would have to ask someone to come in and do the job for cheap(their own wages), meaning he would be rather inexperienced. And he would have no transfer kitty. If we wait till hopfeully a consortium takes over, theres no doubt in my mind they will change the manager anyway as in Walters words it's become "stagnant". So, it could be worthwhile waiting. In my mind noone else could've done what Walter Smith has done. He basically won us the league with this team of no-hopers the now. That in itself is astounding. But whats more incredible is he got that team(more or less) to the UEFA cup final. Now, you have to ask yourself, who else would be able to bring success like that with the budget he's had?(especially last seasons). I'm a bit wary of fans wanting change, just for changes sake. It could shift the dominance we might have completely and utterly back to Celtics hands. And, another lesson could be, what if we get another LeGuen tpe situation and it unsettles the team further? Also, fans should be careful what they wish for. Look at Falkirk. They wanted rid of John Hughes. He was crap according to them, now look at him at Hibs, and look where they are. Not entitely to do with Rangers, but thats what i don't want. I would like to see change, but at the moment we are still top of the league(just) with a terrible team. That says a lot for Smith. I think he should see out the end of the season, hopefully he will be given a couple of million(no more) to strentghen the sqad in January. But after that, i'd like to see him retire gloriusly for all he's given us to cheer.
  23. I'm very suprised that a lot of the memebers on this forum didn't know how strong a bond there is with Rangers and Hamburg. This has been more or less the case since the 70's and quite often the Hamburg fans take a trip over to watch us at Ibrox. There is a Rangers supporters club in Hamburg too. I also remember they unveiled a banner versus Werder Bremen to congratulate us for Getting to the UEFA cup final in 2008. Funnily enough, Hamburgs great rivals St.Pauli have an afinity with Celtic, but that one hasn't been going on as long as the Hamburg/Rangers one. The only other afinity thats as strong as that with Rangers is Chelsea and Linfield. Both have many Rangers supporters clubs with Linfield and Chelsea as their main team. I would like to see Rangers fans show the friendship back to these Hamburg fans as they really do go out their way to give us a mention in the Bundesliga and across europe. They are Rangers nuts.(I suppose them lending us their players too would be out of the question)
