  11. Okay if we accept four of these players could have played if there weren't out on loan, but Halkett and Walsh did play. We also have to accept the following could have played for Aberdeen. Joe Shaughnessy at Falkirk on loan. Jamie Masson on loan at Brechin City Declan McManus on loan at Morton Danny Rogers on loan at Dumbarton. So using your logic both Rangers & Aberdeen had a "host" of their "better" youth players unavailable.
  12. Are they ? I make it four "youth" players out on loan. Only Stoney and Gasparotto didn't play, Halkett and Walsh did. Crawford, McKay and Gallagher are not youth players and unlike under 20's players cannot come back and play. I only wish all our better youth players were out on loan. I wasn't at the game today, but I was at the previous two and the standard and style of performance was as bad as I've seen from a Rangers team at any level. On a positive note I watched six of our under 15's play for Scotland in a 2-1 over Switzerland, Sinky, Kirky and Durie still to get their hands on this group. http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/09/09/win-for-scotlands-15s/

  14. It did seem to be a finance thing. The youth league and cup started out at U18's and has now morphed into U20 tournaments, and in the league's case with FIVE overage players. This has become a pseudo reserve league and clubs see sending their better youth players out on loan as the prefered option. We played against three Aberdeen players and I think six Dundee United in League 2 last season as well as players from other top flight clubs who were out on loan. Scotland effectively now doesn't have a competitive youth league which is completely out of step with all major countries. When the change was made to "U20" I would have made both u18 and U16's competitive. Under the current setup there was a proposal to make U17's competitve but the clubs rejected it.
  15. Personally I think playing for any club in the four divisions is better than playing in this non event that is "The Development League". Rangers played against a full team of Under 20 players in League One last season. Players that were on loan from SPL clubs.
  16. Not a dickie on last night's game on the official website So I guess it never happened
  17. 3 of 7 who have gone out on loan, Crawford, McKay and Gallagher are now too old and would be part of the five over age players. Its a good sign that these players are going out on loan and I only wish there were a few more. Much better for our 18 and 19 year olds playing for other clubs rather than what is now a pretty poor reserve league rather than a youth league. In my opinion these fixtures should be filled by the five over age players on the fringes of the first team and our players at U18 and U17. The likes of Andy Murdoch, Ryan Sinnamon etc would gain little in these fixtures and benefit more playing in league 1 or 2.
  18. Report on very poor performance in Development League http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/09/03/development-league-low/
  19. Report on tonight's 17's game http://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2014/09/01/17s-all-to-injury-time-strike/
  20. I'm not suggesting we should have a team full of home grown players, and where as mistakes are always going to be made we have to look to improve. When Falkirk can potentially take in £2 million on three players we released that suggests we could be making better decisions on youth players. This allied to the fact he has bought 20+ 13/14 year olds over the years and only a handful were deemed good enough at 16 to be offered a contract. Any player at all progressing would be a bonus, but the real issue is the number decisions we are getting wrong. Scottish clubs have to produce and sell players in the current climate, a few have been successful at this, while we continually have to pay players to leave. The transfer window closes in a few days and I watch with interest to see who will be next to get a lump sum to leave.
  21. I with you, but the five players you quote sums up the problems with the youth system is. Only McLeod and to a lesser extent Gallagher(who came from Boys Club football quite late) were discovered and developed by Rangers. The other three's first contact with Rangers was a professional one, having been developed elsewhere. Having been at most of the games the three played as trialists you would have to have been blind not to sign them.
  22. In that case why do we have and spend a lot of money on a youth system at all ?
  23. I should have mentioned following Murray Wallace and Jay Fullton, Conor is the third player they have picked up from Sinky they have sold for big fees.
  24. Yet another Sinky got wrong Just got a move to Norwich City that could net Falkirk £1 million. I watched him play in the same youth team as Darren Ramsay and Charlie Telfer for a couple of years, where as he may not have been the standout he wouldn't have been a candidate for release in my opinion. Gary Oliver who recently scored for Hearts, Lewis Spence and Lewis Martin who are now regulars at Dunfermline also played in the same team on occasions although they are a year younger.
