Confirmed! Dave King passed as 'fit and proper' by SFA
BrahimHemdani replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I believe I am entitled to disagree on the basis of the statement that has been published by the SFA. As and when they elaborate on the legal advice etc, I will reconsider. The fact that Mr King invested in the Club previously is not part of the SFA criteria so far as I am aware; but the fact that he was part of the regime that saw the club suffer an insolvency event most certainly is. There is aboslutely no way that you can state as fact that Mr King's future involvement "can only be in the club's best interests."; that is total supposition on your part. -

I agree wholeheartedly with this assessment, wish I'd written it myself. -

I don't think that anyone who is a regular on here, least of all you, will be surprised to learn that I don't agree with the SFA decision. I'll try to find time to elaborate tomorrow. -

The Club did that because they knew there was an issue; other Clubs could do that or wait for the SFA to investigate their Annual Return. -

I agreed with the comment "Plus one on here!! " -
So you would play Vuckic?
-
Agree to disagree, we just need to get to the final, how we do it, doesn't matter and no one will remember anyway. Getting back to the SPL is the no.1 priority.
-
Exactly my point, sir. Away goals do not count double in the event of a tie on aggregate, so there is no overarching priority to avoid losing a goal at home, so long as we do not lose the game. 1-1 is the same as 0-0, whereas it's not in Europe, hence the comparison with the UEFA Cup run in 2008, when we got to the final by not losing a goal at home and completing the job away. So long as we get at least any kind of draw at home, it becomes a one off match at Easter Road, where we can complete the job with any win in normal or extra time.
-
The diamond formation we employed in the first half on Sunday, bottles up the centre MF so may be employed but with Vuckic at no.10 in place of Clark. Smith may get a start in LMF. We don't need to win the home game we just need to avoid defeat then go for it with care at Easter Rd. It's back to 2008 but without the need to avoid losing a goal at home.

OK you've definitely got me, I give up.

Are you seriously suggesting that Real Madrid would be a better team without Ronaldo who scores more than a goal a game and has just equalled Aldredo Di Stéfano as Real Madrid's second highest goal-scorer in all competitions, behind only Raúl, also equalling Messi as the all-time top scorer in the UEFA Champions League, with 77 goals http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cristiano_Ronaldo. So I assume you wouldn't take him if he was offered to us on loan paying whatever it is we pay for Vuckic? Or that one of only two men to win the European Cup three times as manager Carlo Ancelotti, doesn't know what he's doing? So we can take him of the shortlist to replace McCall then? Come on, GS, this wind up has been going on long enough.

I think that's an accurate and helpful summary MB. Personally I was disappointed that there appeared to have been a breakdown in communication between management and staff over the starters although they quickly over came that; and the dessert service was poor IMHO, I think they may have been defrosting the items, as unlike the rest of the food, I don't think they were freshly prepared. However, there is no question that it was excellent value for money and at that price, I think it's churlish to be overly critical of some aspects.
-
Our defensive record has much more to do with playing our best CB at RB for half the season and a past his sell buy LMF player at CB. How about the stats on goals conceded/points dropped by McCulloch?
-
Just got the email confirming a ticket for Easter Rd, yippee

Sorry, GS but that is complete nonsense. You weren't at the game yesterday and I don't know how much of it you saw on TV but in light of your past criticism I watched Vuckic very closely and he was running back most of the time and taking up his correct position at the head of of the diamond for the breakouts in the first half and cutting in from the right in the second. Not to mention this fantastic goal line clearance [video=youtube;-RA9e3eOptc] Vuckic is a class act, easily our best player and IMHO better than Mcleod. 8 goals and 2 assists in 15 league games speaks volumes. That said I don't think he has quite got the strength to play in the EPL, well not yet; but is ideally suited to our team and our league. I doubt we can keep him if we don't go up but if we do, I think we should make every effort to sign him on loan again and then see where we all are at the end of 2015/16. If we are going into Europe that would be a big draw for him and others one hopes. As to your win percentages, how about producing a table to show ALL our players in that light for comparison?

Steve, this was mentioned as was the fact that we actually won 9 in a row before, during and after The Great War. So many facts it was difficult to take it all in and after remembering on the day, I forgot to record the speach, sincere apologies. Apparently we started one match with 9 and went down to 8, I think, but still won the game. In one match we had no goalkeeper, I forget who he said went in goal but again I think he said we won. As mentioned in the article you quote, Rangers Reserves played in the North Eastern League and often drew biggers crowds at home than the first team did in away games. Celtic did not field a Reserve team during WWII.

I won't reply individually but kind comments all appreciated. It was a pleasure to organise but to be honest somewhat disappointing that we had 7 call offs, including one the night before and 4 on the day; not all of which were in unforseeable circumstnces IMHO. I won't go into detail here but I am concerned about Juancorneto's wife who was in a car accident as a result of which he had to leave the match. Apparently no one hurt but no further details at this point. However, this did mean that we only had 10 total including the speaker and this was embarrassing in terms of the commitment I had given the restaurant and for Robert who ended up speaking to 8 people; though neither made any adverse comment. I do plan to post something about the restaurant on Tripadvisor and let the restaurant know our views, so any honest comments about the quality of the food in comparison with other (Indian) restaurants, service and ambience would be helpful.

As some of you know from the other thread, SteveC purchased two tickets but had the misfortune to book travel for the 23rd in the hope that we would finish 2nd in the League and that would be the date of our first home game in the play-offs; and Charltonman and his good lady "The Lovely Samanatha" were planning to drive up from London but unfortunately due to a change in personal circumstances can no longer make it. SteveC was not included in the numbers after the date of the Dinner was changed but CHM's withdrawal on Tuesday night reduced the numbers from 17 to 15 and there were no takers for the free places offered to "deserving" and/or (equally deserving) disabled persons. In the light of their generous offers I think it is appropriate to refund SteveC and CHM in full. I gave the restaurant the final number as 15 yesterday at 1.15pm. Late last night RAB also withdrew for personal reasons and has stated that he would offer his seat to someone else or contribute the money to the drinks kitty. I have advised the restaurant that we are, therefore, down to 14 including the speaker. Needless to say I don't think they are too happy given that the original deal was that we were getting the place to ourselves if we took 20. It is not clear at this stage if we will have to pay for 14 or 15 but they would be well within their rights to charge for 15. I am not going to offer a free place at this late stage nor do I think it's appropriate in the circumstances to refund. So my plan is to play it by ear tonight and if we are charged for 15 then I will pay it and if not then RAB's money will go into the drinks kitty as he has suggested. If anyone has any comments about the above please post here or PM me as appropriate. Thanks.

Just to let everyone know. absent any nominations for free places; they were offered to disabled people either as 1+ 1 carer with drinks included or 2+ 2 paying own drinks, through the good offices of FS, but there were no takers, paertly because at this late stage such persons would already have travel arrangements in place. Since SteveC and CHM made this offer possible by their generosity I think it's appropriate that they receive full refunds. Admin - It might be best of this thread is now amalgamated with the main dinner thread to keep an entire record of the dinner arrangements in one place.

Ask them who got everyone checked in for the 12 hour delayed flight to Istanbul, who was responsible for the Dyar Hotel in Bursa (not me ) and who got us all into the best hotel in Kaunas, well nearly the best hotel in Kaunas. A great bunch of lads.
-
Recognise anyone in this picture in a bar in Bursa? More to the point are you in it?
-
Really, so you know my friend John McCallum and his crew or are you one of them? Feel free to PM.

He wasn't good enough, plain and simple, all the best to him.
