The First Annual Gersnet Dinner (The Bears Picnic)
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
Just 6 days to go now to the eagerly awaited First Annual Gersnet Dinner and as the Bears get ready to picnic, I am just running a final check on the transport situation. I have it that Supercooper x2, Tannochside Bear, rbr, Jauncorneto and are all taxi-ing from Ibrox (6), so 2 taxis; and Forlansister x2, Bluebear and Gunslinger are going direct (4). The only person I don't know about from the transport point of view is Crawford 01, who I think will be going direct, please confirm and PM your phone number. Can Forlansister x2, Bluebear and Gunslinger all PM me their phone numbers just in case, thanks and would GS include his first name for the labels, thanks! Once I have all the phone numbers I'll send out a test text to confirm. I will be going along to the restaurant on Tuesday night before the game and will post the final menu and timings after that. However, beraring in mind the comments about the trophy ceremony, provisionally: 3.15p for 3.30pm start with drinks from SDMC. 3.30pm - 4.30pm filming. 4.00pm Tapas 4.30pm The Official First Annual Gersnet Dinner Half Time Quiz with Special Guest Quizmaster Brahim Hemdani 5.00pm Paellas 6.30pm Last Orders 7.00pm Close Open to comments or suggestions till Tuesday afternoon. Anyone else want to join us please post on this thread or PM me. Thanks -
I agree about "comments about the quality of refereeing for example"; I beg to differ on the other in respect of a controlling director. Therein lies his problem.

Darther, I hesitate to take issue with you on this because we usually find ourselves on the same side of this debate but the SFA Rules on "fit and proper" relate to "any official, office-bearer, secretary, director or member of the board of management or committee of such member and of its or his associates as defined in Article 13.5" (see #42); but the disciplinary rules only apply to "club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player," and I suspect but am not certain, that that is why they could't touch Romanov for his comments. Putting this the other way around, players and managers are not subjected to a "fit and proper" test (though some might think that certain players ought to be!) because usually they are not in control of the Club.

(1) & (2) None. (3) That's a matter for the SFA but as you well know Mr Easdale falls outwith the 10 year rule, Mr King does not. My opinion is irrelevant.

Glenn Gibbons: Rangers fans playing dangerous game
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I have no idea about this journalist's background or allegiances but he echoes everything I've been saying these past months At least some on here will be pleased that he is not using the movies analogy! One wonders what scheme Mr King will come up with this week. I am convinced that he will do a u-turn on the ST's. There would be no point in him somehow acquiring control of the Club and at the same time encouraging its fans/customers not to buy ST's or would there?- 18 replies

You may well be right; but if I was investing that amount of money I'd want to be a director or at least have someone in there on my behalf (which is also restricted), wouldn't you?
-
Possibly not. If someone was to walk up the steps of Hampden with a briefcase full of money and offer to build half a dozen football academies I'm sure that not only would it be accepted but his or her name would be up in lights.

That's true and I'll stand to be corrected but so far as I can read the rules they can subject such a person to a"fit and proper" test because: "The Board must be satisfied that any such person is fit and proper to hold such position within Association Football" and (b) “person” includes any body corporate and a partnership; © “associate” means:- (i) if the person referred to is an individual, (1) a close relative of that individual, including that individual’s spouse, common law spouse, civil partner, parent, step parent, child, stepchild, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece, or a child or stepchild of such parent or spouse, common law spouse or civil partner or anyone else of a close relationship to that individual who in the opinion of the Board is or is likely to be acting in conjunction with that individual; (2) any company of which that individual or a close relative of such individual is a director or over which that individual or a close relative of such individual is able to exercise control or influence; and (3) any individual who is an employee or partner of that individual or a close relative of any such employee or partner; and (ii) if the person referred to or any associate of that person is a body corporate, (1) any other body corporate associated with it either through the holding of shares in it or by reason of control by contract or other form of agreement; (2) any director or employee of that body corporate or other associated body corporate or any close relative of any such director or employee; and (3) where any person has an agreement or arrangement, whether legally binding or not, with any other person in relation to the exercise of his voting power in a club or in relation to the holding or disposal of his interest in such club, that other person; and (d) “member” means involvement directly or indirectly (and whether as principal, trustee, nominee, beneficiary or in any other capacity) in a club as a shareholder, holder of options over any share, holder of convertible loans or securities or any like instrument; member of a company limited by guarantee; the holder of an interest in any unincorporated voluntary association; or as possessor of any other right of ownership or control in relation to a club http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SFAPublications/ScottishFAPublications2012-13/SFA_HANDBOOK_53-136_Articles_of_Association.pdf I won't rehearse the arguments about whether or not Mr King would pass such a test, as I don't want a second yellow from Admin!

(Copied over from other thread) On the face of it that would cost him circa £20-30 million all of which would go into the hands of the existing investors IF they were willing to sell; which would go against everything he has said to date. Dare I say it; but if he gained a controlling interest he would also have to overcome the "fit and proper" issue". Any ideas about his strategy?

It has a strict criteria which I have posted many times before and the fact that they made such a mess of dealing with Whyte will ensure that they don't screw up again. Regan denied any such agreement.
-
It's not simplisitc at all; essentially that's what McColl was going to do in 2010. However, I'm told he has no interest in such schemes any more.

The First Annual Gersnet Dinner (The Bears Picnic)
BrahimHemdani replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
Unfortunately RANGERSRAB is unable to join us; anyone want to take his place? -
OK "update" then; but they would need to be dumber and more conniving than their fiercest critics suggest if it did not have some substance.

What's the point if the review or at least a summary of the review is coming out next Friday?
-
I think that's the winner; just close the competition now. (For the avoidance of doubt that's not meant to a caption!)

Mohsni exasperates me because it is clear he is a talented and committed footballer, he wins virtually every ball in the air and makes good interceptions. However, he is easily wound up, seems to want to fight anyone who touches him, gets involved in situations where there is no need, constantly draws attention to himself by arguing with the referees and easily loses concentration. His passing out of defence is poor and because he thinks he is better than he is and is a frustrated forward he wonders up the park and oftentimes doesn't get back in time. He also tries to tell other players how to do their job. He's been sent off twice and got 9 yellows in 33 games and if it had not been for McCulloch's calming influence I am sure that total would have been higher. If McCulloch is not playing regularly next season (hopefully) then Wallace may be able to exert the same influence but I shudder to think what will happen to him in the white hot cauldron of Tynecastle, never mind Parkhead or Pittodrie or in Europe.

And a reason why his contract was terminated allegedly "by mutual agreement" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20901595 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22352862 Probably one of the biggest examples ever of a Rangers player who thinks he's better than he is; his arrogance is fooling no one.

I did say "I very much doubt if the hard working foot soldiers in the ticket office for example are on £20,000 a year" . I seem to recall one of the more senior ones (since left) telling me in Valencia/Villarreal that he was on £18k and that Rangers kept the salaries down because people wanted the jobs because of the prestige of working for Rangers.
