Who started it?

Sorry GS it's not obvious to me. It's been stated upon revision, at least by Chris Graham on STV, that the money will not be drip fed; it will be paid up front. How does that become a loan?
-
Really and truly, Mr BEARGER, if we are going to have a serious debate about this, let's stict to the facts. Do you know for a fact that the Board "have no new investors"; if so how do you know that? Do you know for a fact that "ST monies will be greatly down on this season with or without ST Trust". How can you know that when the renewals have just been isssued? I put it to you that these statements are nothing more than speculation. The one thing that is guaranteed to bring about admin2 is irresponsible talk about withholding season ticket money.

Be careful tomorrow Bears. The Ralphie Milne Ultras are in town!

Rangers will probably be punished as it's our ground so we are responsible for security. On second thoughts, it's an SFA game so they are responsible, so they can charge themselves. But they'll have the perfect defence, if they can prove they took all reasonable precautions and had the required number of stewards and police in accordance with the ground's safety certificate. -

Please see the OP, Saturday 26 April 2014 at 3.00/3.15pm after the Stranraer game. I will PM you the payment details. -
That's exactly why I find so much of his plan (or lack of it) and statement so surprising and why I think there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. He obviously knows it's not a "loan" and he obviously knows the ST money doesn't go to the Board, so why sprout this nonsense.

Obviously a fully paid up member of the The Apostrophe Protection Society - excellent. Definitely no chance with certain bus company operators then.

I'm happy to bow to your knowledge of the other sites, BD; but I didn't get that impression from what I read; may well be an undercurrent though I appreciate. Hope you're not relegated to the enclosure like me today. No doubt you're upgraded to the Director's Box.

It certainly isn't clear but it's a long way from the supposed purpose of the scheme is it not? What do you think he's referring to then apart from ST's? Genuine question BTW. -

Why not both? He was a very decent player who went to MU did he not? One of the highlights of my illustrious refereeing career was Kilmarnock v Dundee Utd in the semi-final of the Second XI Cup in 1979! Apart from a defence ably marshalled by one Walter Smith, the DU forward line was: Payne, Addison, Kirkwood, Fleming and Milne. That lot would have graced most first XI's of the day. -

Bit extreme but maybe that's what they wear in sunny cosmopolitan Dundee these days. -
You can get an extra ration of tapas. You're too kind, I'm sure that there are many on here would see me far enough.

When did we ever know that in the past? So not necessarily for ST's; very interesting and I would suggest very worrying for anyone contemplating putting their money into this hair-brained scheme; where else exactly might it go, defending fans from libel suits? Who decides what are the "right places"? The cat's out the bag now. -
Well my season ticket renewal package was waiting for me when I got home last night. It's £471 (inc the £10 fee) compared with £379 (inc the fee) for the last two seasons; so that's exactly 24.3% increase inc the fee, 25% increase ex the fee. I don't think this is unreasonable given: no increase last year, the rise in the leagues and the obvious fact that we need to increase revenue from all sources. However, it is still 17% less than 2012. This means that a 20% increase next year would take it back to where it was the last time we were in the SPL; so I expect that or perhaps 25%, which would take it just 4% above where it was 4 years earlier, again very reasonable. The deadline for opting out of auto renewal is "before Monday 28 April" so I guess that means midnight on the 27th or before the ticket office opens for business on the 28th. In other words 17 days from receipt of the documents. My decision and I would suggest that of most others is not based on the outcome of the current review of the business affairs of the club or my opinion of the directors (which is by no means all good I hasten to add); nor has it ever been based on any previous review or my opinion about the financial performance of the Club or the team on the field. It is based on my loyalty to the Club built up over 57 years. Therefore it will not take me 17 days, 17 hours or even 17 seconds to make this decision. By coincidence I also received my Mastercard statement last night. This includes tickets for 3 Rangers games. By another coincidence it is also due for payment by the 28th of April, by which time I have to decide to pay the minimum, the full amount or somewhere in between (no prizes for guessing what I always do). Unlike paying for a ST however, where I don't know what I'm going to see other than 18 football matches of varying quality with varying personnel; with the exception of today's game I have already "enjoyed" the other matches, the petrol is half used in the tank in my car, the oil is in the engine, the duty free has been drunk, the new toilet roll holder is in the bathroom and I have started to use the note pads I bought bfrom WH Smith. I have truly had an "interest free" loan for up to 50 days, paid for by those who want my custom. When I pay in full, I will be paying for all these goods and services, I will not be lending these compnaies any money; nor will I be asking Sainsbury's for security in case the toilet roll holder rusts.

It won't. The biggest announcement will be the timing of the scrip issue and how they are going to make £2 million from the so-called "membership scheme" and about the same from the increase in ST prices. They might, just might have a rabbit to pull out of the hat in the form of a new sponsor or other commercial deal but I doubt it. I also expect to see much looking forward to increased revenue when we get back to the SPL and Europe, remember it's a 5-year plan. The institutions are waiting on cost cutting measures but it is very difficult to see how that will be achieved other than by not renewing the contracts of the 4 players whose deals are up in the summer; which might save say £500,000 - £1 million.

So DK acknowledges that the action he proposes would render the club not a going concern. What would be his motives for suggesting such a disastrous course of action? Whether you agree with DK's scheme or not (and of course it is well known hereabouts that I do not); his comments about a "loan" or monies "advanced" to " the Board" are complete and utter nonsense and he is intelligent enough to know that full well. For a start it is NOT a loan. It is payment for the entertainment offered by RFC. As such there is no justification whasoever in asking for security for such a payment. As in the cinema example from GS, if you make the payment you get to see the games/movies if you don't you dont. Yes you can pay as you go but in the cinema example you don't get a discount and in Rangers case you don't get your regular seat. You don't get security over the cinema. The choice is yours. If enough people stop going to the cinema, there won't be a cinema. Secondly it is NOT a payment or loan to the Board; that's just deliberately inflammatory, emotive nonsense. It's a payment to RFC. You may or may not like the directors of ABC cinemas, you may have been a patron for many years, you may think that the movies you see now are not half as good as the ones you saw in yesteryear, the stars may not shine as brightly in your eyes, you may even think that if the directors of ABC cinemas continue on their current course there won't be an ABC cinemas but unless you are a shareholder you don't get to elect them. So he's right that if a large number of people do not renew then the club will not be a going concern and that might lead to resignations from the Board but it will also mean the club may not be able to trade solvently and that only leads in one direction. As paying customers all of us have that choice (as we do about going to the cinema) but referring to a non-existent loan and suggesting putting the money in a trust serves no purpose other than raising the false hope of security in return for a few million of ST money which he knows isn't going to happen. Now I'm off to get my tin hat and flak jacket.

I agree with most of what you say in this thread but that simply isn't true. The only time I can recall that happening was when McClelland was Chair and he didn't get away with it. I attended the AGM's for many years and never had any difficulty asking any question I wanted to ask and most times got answers even if I didn't agree with them. In fact Martin Bain once said, that I was the "bain" (sic) of his life at AGM's.

Thank you for the compliment and I assume that you are not categorising me in the second group as well.

And it doesn't mean the opposite either.

I read through the thread on RM and found that the vast majority of posters were strongly against DK's proposal and even those who supported him were highly critical of the timing. I know nothing of the politics of this site v that site or any other site and I don't care for how some of those on RM express themselves (as has happened on here from time to time but usually quickly stamped upon). But I agree with rbr that it is interesting to note how one site is polarised in one direction and another site in more or less the opposite direction. And before anyone makes the suggestion, I prefer it here; even if I get stick for being opposed to King's plan.

I doubt any of them expect a dividend, Crawford; River & Mercantile certainly don't, they told me they are in it for capital growth. That's why I believe they'll buy into a scrip issue to average down their price.
-
The Club never paid a dividend in the 30 years I had shares in "oldco"; why would they start now, or are you just being facetious?
