Taken from BBC Sport Rangers: Football to continue at Ibrox say liquidators Rangers' liquidators insist the club will continue to play at Ibrox. Malcolm Cohen and James Stephen from financial company BDO have been appointed as Joint Liquidators. A CVA proposal from a consortium led by Charles Green was rejected by HMRC forcing the club into liquidation. "It's important to understand that the appointment of liquidators will not mean the end of football at Ibrox - only the end of the company that ran the club," said Cohen.* "The liquidators will seek to protect any remaining assets, maximise recoveries for the benefit of creditors and investigate the reasons behind the failure of the company." Administrators Duff & Phelps plan to transfer the business to a 'newco' set up by Green in the next few days. Cohen continued: "Once this is done, BDO will determine what can be recovered from the remains of the existing company. "It is right that there is a full and robust investigation into why the company failed, together with concerted efforts to recover monies for creditors and the taxpayer. "This may include pursuit of possible claims against those responsible for the financial affairs of the company in previous years." Green's consortium have continued discussions with the Scottish football authorities with the SPL holding a board meeting on Monday where issues at Rangers are expected to figure high on the agenda. "We are still negotiating with the SFA and SPL to reach an amicable conclusion to the benefit of Scottish football," said Green. "We need to carry on talking sensibly and get something that works for everyone." + + + * Just in case anyone missed that.

I added a few lines to my reply ... just in case.
-
The last bit is something Leggat should spend his energy on, instead of chasing the occasional windmill.
-
It wouldn't be you if such a reply was not forthcoming. Of course, it strikes one as odd that in this case, where players can essentially walk for free now (and thus no transfer fee would flow back to Rangers), people still rather look for flaws in Green and Co. than voicing their hope that he's indeed legally right.
-
Again, we should not forget about Traynor either. He's a sports reporter who wants to sell his stories. Anyone on here will vividly remember the utter rubbish that sprang from other articles of his.
-
How about trying this statement and see the reasoning behind Green's words?

The exit strategy: Other bidders consider offers

IMHO, those crying loudest to know the names of the Green consortium (i.e. the media) just look for more ammunition to fire at us and the world. And it is also somewhat alarming that some (sic!) people are taking such "independent" news reports as next to true, whereas happily ridiculing Green & co. at every step. Just another 48 hours and we may know all the names of his consortium. (Yes, I used the 48h on purpose!) -
leggo - still time to stop green and duff and Phelps.

We will see if anything comes of this supposed investigation about them handling the administration. If not, people should refrain from using the word liar that losely. -
As I said before, the press and some sports people have climbed to moral high grounds on the basis that one man did not pay our taxes and thus "we brought the game into disrepute" in the most shameful way possible. Much like "match fixing". This stance is utterly ridiculous from start to finish, IF compared to other incidents. Ask those who jump at us like there is no tomorrow where their morale high grounds were when we won the title at the Scumhut in 1999, with players and the referee - a SFA official - was struck and bloodied by the Hooped Hordes. When the pitch was invaded to stop that game, our players hailed with all sorts of stuff and abuse when fleeing down the tunnel? BRINGING THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE? Not a word. Their coach, for these last three seasons, has a plain playing field to nigh anything what he says and does pre, during and after a match. Their players and coaches openly and in full view of camera and police having a go at our players (Bartley/Edu/Diouf). Not a whisper about BRINGING THE GAME INTO DISREPUTE. They get some silly fines and a ban or two, but there it ends. If anything, Green and Co. should make sure that all the newsmongers who revelled in our demise will not allowed back into Ibrox unless they pay for it like every other customer.

Come on, you know, we know it. It would have been fine if someone would have given them 60 or 80 pence in the pound. Not what any of our pretenders were willing or able to pay though. -

He or we can spin a yarn about what other people - or admins - would have done to the club. It would still be only a yarn. If he was a Rangers man, he should spend his ire at those haring after us from all corners and leave his investigative energies there. All Rangers fans will be wary about Green and Co., as we should be. But is there need to ridicule him with some articles like these or constant below-belt denominations? Leggat should try to keep his standards and of late, these standards occasionally reach bottom level. And no, this does not say that none of his articles are untrue, rubbish, or may not contain an ounce of truth. -

Nothing about hating him. Anyone with half a brain would note that his objectivity is lacking at times. Not that he requires to be objective, but the way he sometimes goes on about certain people is hardly quality stuff. -
By the looks of it, a good few people will leave the club now, especially the younger ones and those with international ambitions or being internationals right now. If we were to go to Div 3, it will be youngsters and a some hardened diehards ... or simply people who want to immortalize themselves with the support. We might see the return of a Gattuso or Novo, McCulloch staying on too. Retaining SPL status would not necessarily see as vast an exodus, since we are still a prime place for players to actually win something - and no, a title will not be "worthless" because we don't go into Europe. Of course, this was just the first hurdle. The SFA and/or SPL could still decide on funny penalties and embargos, which could well push us over the edge for years to come. But as I said before, there is only so much a Rangers supporter would bear. This is not a Motherwell, Dundee or Gretna, with a few dozen or hundred fans possibly getting annoyed. Even if we only have 1% of people amongst our support going to extreme retaliation measures, well ...
-
Looks like Kyle Bartley seen some more attention from the Hooped Horrors. He replied well ...
-
On a sidenote, this just sprang up on FF ... apparently confirmed by people from the RFFF by now. Perhaps the pressure is already there, not to mention SKY and ESPN people ...
-
And he might possibly argue successfully with UEFA that we were put into that mess by one person alone and thus reasonably argued that the club and its supporters are not at fault here. IMHO, this 3-year membership thing is to bar oil-billionaires to whip up teams out of nothingh and challenge the Barcas and Reals of this planet. So the actual time spend on the fringes of Europe might be less than three years, pending whether we would actually qualify.
-
While we are at it, if D&P get through to some of the 25m they are chasing from Collier Bristow, who would get that now?
-
IMHO, after getting their first grand victory, the Hooped Horrors looking to push it over the edge. As far as I am concerned, our history is lost when we go the way of Third Lanark. That is the club cannot play games, has no players, assets are sold and it is thus removed from Scottish football. On a sidenote, will the SFA actually dare not to hand out a new membership to Rangers?
-
HMRC has already stated that they will turn down any CVA attempt, no matter who put that in.
-
Headlines with LIQUIDATION alongside the name Rangers make a fine reading and may set the hairs on the neck of the masses standing up. And that will continue for days and weeks. Of course, it takes an IQ higher than that of a dead rat (by now anyway) to realize that in the English language words have more than one meaning and the scum's wet dreams will not be fulfilled here. But sure we will remember.

Obviously, de facto the CVA will not come off, de jure it will only not come off on Thursday still. -

Zappa ... am I saying to put the head in the sand? Nope. Nor am I saying that we should step back and hope for the best. -
They register clubs, not companies, do they not? The club does not cease to exist? Edit: It looks like we have to apply for membershiip, but in any case, it does not touch the club as such, or its history.

Really folks, some behave like this folk who camp in front of a book shop to get the earliest available copy of a new Harry Potter or somesuch. You will know the names in due course. -
That is actually out of the equation. Before the oldco is liquidated, the assets (including history et al) are being transferred to the newco. This is just a business matter, not a club matter. This is what HMRC says to the matter:
