Many songs that are being sung at football grounds have nothing do to with the club. Whether you are "blowing bubbles" or "walk through a storm" or "sing a soldier's song" ... or indeed have your gallow build or wearing "the sash your father wore". Add "simply the best" song to get people started before a game of late, Penny Arcade. What these songs do is create atmosphere and a feeling of togetherness, these days much less so in terms of what is actually being sung, but by actually singing a song together. If we'd find great football songs that has the same rousing effect as The Sash or BMG has, or TBB and Here lies a Soldier had, all the better. The problem is that unless it is done by the tannoy folk at each home game, you will hardly get it started by the masses. would be one simple song that could be easily brought in. Another one would be Proud Legions ... and that is around since three decades now, but hasn't made it onto the terraces. One thing that continues to baffle me is why he would be out to put (as is being projected all over the place) our club into liquidation? Yes, we would be rid of HMRCs cases and claims. Yes, we would be rid of the 18m debt or the Ticketus deal. BUT ... the club would most likely start in the 3rd tier of Scottish football*. That means at least 4 seasons out of Europe (no income from that direction), gate receipts will most likely drop as attendance figures will go down by the tens of thousands (maybe not instantly, but I reckon the attendence when Rangers maul a 2nd division side for the 20th time a season will not top 20k), TV income will be ridiculously low, investment from other companies too. So who would by this football club from him or who expect that he will invest any sort of money into such a team. Likewise, he could just take his money and invest in Clyde FC for the next 4 years. On a sidenote, would there be any people willing to actually buy Ibrox ( listed place, unless I am mistaken), Murray Park et al? This doesn't match up. *Going by standard procedures and the open hatred the scum continuously show (stripping of titles, 15-point deductions for years to come et al), we most likely won't be reinstated into the SPL instantly. That SPL TV deals are being ripped up and other income from fans going to the various stadiums all over Scotland will cease does not interest them. They want to see us going down into the abyss much more than realizing that they and the rest of the SPL will follow suit.

Of course, going by recent remarks about "Build my gallows" possibly being deemed offensive or "unwanted", you see again where the wind is blowing from. Singing up "against the IRA" is being deemed illegal? What next? Speaking up against ETA or the Taliban too? Just a general remark. There is IMHO no need to sing loyalist or similar songs at football games. But if such policies are pursued, it should be even handed. Can you imagine the HHs will be reqeusted to stop their Soldier's Song or will stop BotOB?

I'd assume that the "liquidation stuff" is being whipped up by the HHs, by assuming that the administrator's "deadline" for people coming forward (March 16th) is when the curtain will fall. A neat assumption, but no more than that. Whereas above, the admins say that if some money raising is being made, it should be done when it is clear where the money is going, by whom it will be distributed, and to which sensible end. Going by the responses to the various fan initiatives, they clearly see that there is a will to pay to save the club.

Ain't it a touch strange that on the one hand they are "happily" debating cutting the costs and sending players away ... and postponing this decision, while on the other people start assuming that on this or that day we will be liquidated? When in another report they are securing 3.6m from a bank account of Whyte's lawyers and chasing another 5m? All this conflicts time and again. And while I am at it, we have no news about the big case's result (you wonder why it takes that long), and even if HMRC's stand was rather rigid before: by seeing us liquidated, wouldn't they lose all of their recent 9m claim plus the bill from both tax cases? That surely cannot be in their interest, nor Ticketus? Add to that that despite what the Hooped Horrors may claim, the whole of the SPL would suffer if we "drop" out, since TV deals would be ripped up, gate receipts drop et al? ANd unless we are instantly re-instated into the SPL, to which you-know-who would object to (since they have some championships to catch up, want us stripped of titles and be charged with 15-point deductions for some years), this would continue for some years to come. While solely from a financial point of view and some of the facts we have, liquidation appears to be the abyss looming on the horizon, can those involved really risk it?

On a sidenote, people on FF have seemingly heard word that liquidation might come up on either March 16 or 23 (one being St. Patrick's Day, btw), unless someone proves to have the funds required. All just well-informed hearsay, of course. Would be somewhat strange, since the 8 weeks period has not been finished, no real results have been published and we are still selling tickets for the Milan game. But there you go.

.. methinks they know that their deal with Whyte might be illegal under Scottish Law and the administrators may simply send them packing without seeing a penny of their 20odd million. Hence they work out a solution that sees the club remain intact. Just MHO.

Says who? You do wonder where people get their information from, when you would assume that the administrators do not leaking them all over the place.

... or so they think. After all, it is essentially gueswork again by the paper, based on unknown information from within "what"? We all assume that there will be cuts, but how the press seems to know how many % of wages cuts are debated or people are being laid off is somewhat dubious.

I think folk like Whittaker can easily accept a 75% wage cut, while Aluko and Kerkar surely don't. They all could e.g. agree on a 2k a week salary from now till the end of the season though. We have to keep in mind that quite a few of the high earners were high earners before they came to us, so they should be able to sustain themselves for 6 months or till we are out of admin.

mainflyer ... while I see the points in your sentiments above, somesuch would take ages and right now, our club does not have these. What could be done is setting up a membership scheme with an interim president (Walter Smith) and some decent helping hands and get something off quickly. With an obligation to get restructured when times are better (say 12 months).

I would assume (!) that the players have contracts and anything being done under administration is a temporary thing, not a "signing" of new contracts.

Can't actually see some folk's reasoning here. Rangers FC would remain very much the same. The company behind/running it would change. As Bluedell has stated, the same happened with the Hooped Horrors a wee while back.

Like Hearts not getting the 1m we apparently still owe them for Wallace, gate receipts not paid, HMRC with their two bills, VAT, PAYE and whatnot? Just out of interest.
