  1. King doesn't need anyone to verify his comments to the fans....many will believe him not matter what. The entire board could verify what happened and back it up with a recording yet folk would still call them liars. The board cannae win no matter what they do. They're only hope going forward is to come out with a solid business review, then to implement it. Although regardless of the content, folk will rubbish it.
  2. Free Nandos if anyone can tell me what this is.....
  3. King knows that probably the majority of fans will side with him, regardless of what is said. Mr Wallace MUST get his review out ASAP, then it is back to DK...
  4. Football for dummies Pt 1: The Ball.... Tomorrow we move onto Pt2 - passing the ball to a team mate. If there is time we will move onto Pt 3 - The opposition's goal, and what to do when you see it.
  5. So fans give their ST money to DK - how do they then get to watch the match(s)??? Does the Account trustee's forward an amount of money to the club to "purchase" x-number of tickets for names attendees??? I can't see ANY fan wanting to hand over £500 without some rock-solid guarantee that they are going to get the required tickets. As for club property as security - NEVER gonna happen. Other than that, strong words from DK & will be interesting how the board respond (which is the key)!!!
  6. I get a feeling that Ally will adjust his tactics from last week - they will be even more defensive!!! Simonsen is a decent keeper, but hasn't had any game time (bar 1 game), but the keeper is the least of the worries IMHO. I think we may see: Simonsen Foster - Mohsni - Jig - Smith Faure Peralta - Law - Black - Aird Daly With Black sitting fairly deep. McCoist will want to stop Utd scoring 1st & foremost, then hope to catch them on the break or with a set piece.
  7. Small point here....The deal with Easdale/Letham has been described as a credit facility, rather than an out & out loan.....how much of the credit facility has the club actually used to date??? It may actually turn out that they don't use any of it,....then again, they may need all of, then of course your point stands.
  8. It is further than we got last season, therefore is a sign of progress (technically....)
  9. My point about Cinema tickets was more to do with what you get for your money - not the specific cost or payment plan. Season ticket holders seem to think that they have rights within the club (like a shareholder)....they are nothing more than a punter who has paid in advance for a product. If you are not happy with the season ticket price or benefits of having one, you have a very simple choice - don't buy one. Get your ticket game-to-game - it is your choice. The club are not forcing ANYONE to sign up for a ST. They are stating, based on suggestions from outwith the club, that if upfront ticket money is not paid directly to the club, it could effect trading for the coming year. Don't see why that is so hard to grasp.
  10. Sorry to burst yer wee bubble - That is exactly what your season ticket gets you!!! If you buy an annual pass for the cinema - do you get a say on how the company is run??? No you don't....you get to go & watch a shed load of movies for the next 12 months. Rangers are selling a product - the opportunity to watch a defined number of games through out a season. If they bring in all the money up front, in theory then then have a set budget to work from - then know they have £xxm sitting in the bank. If it is paid in instalments, what happens if people default on those payments - money lost to the club, therefore effecting the overall annual budget. In essence it is easier for a business to get payment in one lump sum, then via monthly/quarterly payments. I do think if there is no instalment option, there are folk who will not renew simply because they can't afford the out-right payment. Those folk may simply choose to pay on a match by match basis.
  11. I think GS's comment is 100% true - at times. There have been times watching various opponents where they have strung together some excellent passing or attacking movements which have cut us wide open, only to be let down by poor finishing etc. I would say that some of these teams have shown that they CAN play proper football, but the thing they lack is overall quality & consistency. We should have the quality of players & the consistency to be ripping these teams to shreds each week, yet it simply doesn't happen. We end up fighting & grinding out results more often than not recently. We have no excitement in the team. We lack a "killer instinct". we lack creativity.
  12. Season tickets are the clubs main source of income for the year....if something effects that income, it's gonna have an effect on the going concern of the business. Don't think there is a need to read any more into it.
  13. Spending money on more expensive players is not the answer.....compare last season to this one - better players were brought in, yet IMHO not a massive leap in quality on the pitch. the team is still playing the same style...
  14. Picking a few points.... He's becoming an experienced manager. - Too late.....that should have been a pre-requisite of getting the job. He's had 3 full seasons and the team hasn't really improved - compare to Lemmon....4 seasons, 3 top-division titles & several decent outings in Europe. He's had the worst financial backing of any Rangers manager for decades. - yet has still brought in some of the SPL's top players (outwith Ceptic) He's had to cope with our worst boardroom/s ever. - and has failed to motivate the players accordingly He's still unbeaten over 90 league minutes this season. A decent record no matter who the opposition. - I'll give you that one. Giving proper backing, I still think he can do a job for us. He learned from the master, and has a good knowledge of the Scottish game. - I've not seen ANY evidence of this. He has decent, professional players yet can't get them to play consistently well
  15. Agreed....but how long can it be used as a valid reason to keep him as manager??? I want(ed) Ally to succeed as manager - the guy is a legend & comes across as a top bloke, however general performances on the park have yet to show any promise moving forward. We have brought it some of the SPL's top players (outwith Ceptic), several of them young & promising, yet NONE of them have improved any under McCoist. Even our own youngsters, have they really improved that much (if any)??? IMHO, the players & management have had a real easy ride the past 2 seasons. They are constantly playing under the Boardroom scuffles etc which masks their poor performances & give them an easy excuse. The players need a right-royal rocket up the arse, but McCoist seems unable to do that.....
  16. Rather than all the negativity, how about flipping the discussion to highlight Why McCoist should stay??? - Devotion to the club through tough times - Fantastic team performance against Motherwell last season - Won 2 divisional titles in a row Anything else???
  17. The article is only echoing what is being said within this forum - difference being, its published in a national newspaper. I'm sure there will be many bears who don't read forums who will agree with it.
  18. Would that cost be any more than we're paying already??? McCoist is VERY well paid considering the clubs position, and the Scottish game in general. I think there would be few managers would turn down a £400k wage packet. There is also the ongoing challenge of properly rebuilding the team - players & scouting etc.
  19. We have dominated opponents ie. greater possession, but rarely have I seen us actually out-class them & generally given them a lesson in how to play the game. All too often we are talking about "what could have been"....if only's etc. our tactics and players are not clinical enough. We have had 2 seasons so far, of playing against packed defences, yet have not worked out any tactic (that works) for breaking them down. As I stated in another post/thread, we are not a team, we are playing as individuals in the same outfits. Our tactics are non-existent and the player appear to lack any real spark or creativity - That comes down to the manager!!!
  20. Was that defeat indicative of Ceptic's general performance though??? To many, our defeat yesterday came as no surprise. When was the last time that we actually outclassed the opposition, and scored a decent amount of goals???
  21. Has anyone seen the size of the Rovers banner???? They only have one, coz there's no room for any more.....
  22. As Der Berliner says, let remove the conspiracy tinted specs.... Most likely the guy was either found to be surplus to requirement or wasn't doing his job well enough. It is common place for sacked employees to be escorted immediately off the premises to avoid any "mischief". The would be especially the case if he had access to any potentially sensitive data ie. financials or personal data. This is a complete non-story!!!
  23. I'd actually though along the same lines....except King being the main shirt sponsor - the deal with Blackthorn was reportedly a 1 year deal. 3 year sponsorship @ £10m a year.
