  1. "Rangers are, effectively, in the middle of the journey back to the top flight. Decisions made in the coming months will determine what kind of force they will be when they do return." It now looks all the more ridiculous that we assembled a squad of highly paid Internationals to begin life in the lower divisions instead of cherry picking the cream of the crop already playing there for a quarter of the wages. We either faced up to it and paid the price then or (as is about happen now) pay the price further down the line. We may lose our best players this month and face going into the penultimate phase of our journey with a weaker squad than we had for starting in Division Three. Something went horribly wrong and McCoist has to shoulder a huge chunk of the blame.
  2. Fletcher will be a Hull City player in January and for more fee and wages than Kim Jung Lawell could stomach even with a full stadio del a alky.
  3. Spot on dB, Jim McColl could have dipped into his vast pockets at any point in the last two years and bought himself a seat on the board. Today proved that having the balls and the know how means a lot more to investors than a love for the club.
  4. Yes that's right, you can always trust those nice religious chaps to act appropriately with funds and around young men.....
  5. Not one mention of the word "Celtic" on that front page.....how petty and conceited can you get?
  6. That's true GS but how big a percentage of our support are "internet savvy", I'd say it's less than 10% and by that I mean people who are of the requisite age-group, social status and who's lifestyles require them to have grown accustomed to social media and the internet I'd estimate the bulk of our support either don't use it at all or use the internet to check football scores and play the lottery but don't spend a great deal of time online, reading and responding to articles and tweets etc. Unfortunately the printed tabloid press is still the medium of choice for Rangers fans to get their (dis) info about Rangers. I wish it wasn't the case but it's the only explanation for the apathy and the continued existence of the daily record.
  7. If only Shagyer Parahandy had put them out in the qualifiers, they'd have imploded big time time this year. Lennon out, fans rioting and causing mayhem in the Europe League and every big "star" looking for a way out. Here's hoping they get a decent team in the quals next year.
  8. Volunteers lolololol silly wee boy.
  9. Thankfully attitudes like Ryan's are becoming less and less prevalent, with every passing decade a new generation of young fans are introduced to the overwhelmingly positive experience of supporting Rangers. Education is the anti-dote to intolerance and we all have a responsibility to educate each other in order that this progress continues.
  10. So I'm not a true Rangers fan if I don't hate Catholics and sing in praise of loyalist murderers? Chortle
  11. Not in the slightest, even if that was the case would that please you? To make people uncomfortable...? Why don't you sing your loyalist, anti-Catholic songs at work in the bosses office? I'll tell you why, because you need the comfort blanket of others around you and need to feel as if you belong to something that is a wee bit subversive and controversial don't you Ryan? To find identity only in something which is the opposite position to another must be pretty unfulfilling. Tragic almost.
  12. Quelle surprise A story about the unpopular incumbents planning to invest big in Rangers, has the word "warchest" been used yet?
  13. No Orangism, Loyalism, Terrorism or any other superfluous ism has any place in football Ryan, if you want to fight your cultural war then please do so without involving Rangers Football Club, start a movement or a political party or something. Tata
  14. By all means punish the delightful pair but why create the link to Rangers? Does the club teach them the songs?, Does it display the lyrics with a bouncing ball on the big screen at Ibrox? By this logic, every bus on the way to Parkhead and Ibrox on a matchday will be diverted straight to Pitt St for processing.
  15. Do Man Utd fans blame themselves for the Glazers? Do Liverpool fans feel responsible for Gillette and Hicks leveraging the club to the hilt? Of course not, all you can do as a fan is support your team, if it's winning then all the better and if not then you quite rightly have earned the right to voice an opinion as to why that might be, but that's where it ends. This idea that fans are the Watchmen of their club is nonsense, as has has been proved. All the moralising and gnashing and wailing of teeth has changed nothing...we are where we are because those who have either the money or the illusion of having the money have perfected the art of ripping off struggling businesses with huge turnovers whilst hoodwinking the fans into believing they're the answer to the previous con artist who did exactly the same. We're victims as much as the loyal shopper who witnesses a shoplifter pilfering goods from their favourite store.
  16. I'd love out of Scottish Football altogether and I think most of us would agree on that. It's no longer a case of competing and winning or losing it's toxic to the point that it will never recover. These last few years have wrought a generations worth of damage, if we were parachuted straight into the Premier League tomorrow I'd be done with Scottish Football altogether, only a season or two to get used to the idea might soften my views.
  17. "Blackburn Rovers striker DJ Campbell has been arrested in connection with a spot-fixing investigation, according to sources close to the club. The 32-year-old, who played in the Premier League with Birmingham City, Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers, was one of six people held in the latest investigation into corruption in football by the new National Crime Agency, which began looking at match-fixing after a Telegraph sting last month exposed the biggest such alleged scandal in England for decades. Campbell’s yellow card against Ipswich Town in a Championship game on Tuesday 3 December is at the centre of police enquiries into allegations players have been paid to get themselves booked or sent off, according to the The Sun. Sources close to Blackburn said Campbell, who joined Blackburn from QPR this summer following a loan spell, had been arrested as part of an NCA investigation after it acted on information passed to it by the newspaper. The tabloid reported that an undercover investigator met former Portsmouth player Sam Sodje, who allegedly said he could arrange for footballers in the Championship to get themselves booked in return for tens of thousands of pounds. It is also alleged he claimed he could rig Premier League matches and even offered to fix games in next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil. The NCA, which is working closely with the Football Association and the Gambling Commission, has opened an investigation into the claims and six people were last night being questioned. Last month an undercover investigation by Telegraph unearthed allegations that betting syndicates were attempting to fix the results of matches in this country. Four men, including two non-league players, are due to appear in court this week in connection with that particular NCA investigation. In the latest case, 34-year-old Sodje, who was born in London but has represented Nigeria at international level, allegedly told an undercover reporter that it was “easy” to influence games and claimed he could guarantee bookings “100 per cent”. He also allegedly claimed that, when playing for Portsmouth, he earned £70,000 from a syndicate after getting sent off for punching an opposing player in the groin. He allegedly resorted to the tactic after previous efforts to catch the referee’s eye and get dismissed had failed. He was reported as saying: “I had to do it because the referee wasn’t booking me.” Sodje, who also played for Reading, Charlton Athletic and Notts County, allegedly told undercover reporters he could fix Premier League games, but the cost was much higher because of the risks being taken by the players involved. Sodje told an undercover reporter: “The easiest one is a booking. You just push someone, swear at the referee, kick the ball away. A yellow card is a standard thing. No one would even be suspicious.” Sodje allegedly demanded £30,000 to arrange for a Championship player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to receive a yellow card in the first half of a recent game. However, the player did not get booked until the second half of the match, for which Mr Sodje apologised, claiming he had “messed up”. It is thought the alleged spot-fixing scams are organised by betting syndicates operating in the Far East." Picking up a Premier League salary and probably a comfortable millionaire from his career earnings they still feel the need to cheat for money.
  18. If the SPFL had any balls whatsoever they'd ban away fans for Celtic and threaten points deductions for repeat offences. If...
  19. "Real" Green Brigade Statement "Following the events of Friday night’s match against Motherwell at Fir Park, the Green Brigade would like to clarify our position on a couple of issues. Firstly we do not condone the breaking of seats nor do we welcome pyrotechnics being thrown on the park. We as a group are as disappointed as any about such indefensible behaviour and regret that it happened on our watch. Whilst it was not members of our group behaving in this manner, we accept the fact that these actions took place behind our banner in what was an unofficial 'Green Brigade section' and furthermore that the fans within this area are associated to our group whether they are members or not. It is particularly disappointing given how hard we have worked as a member organisation of Fans Against Criminalisation and of our own accord to fight the criminalisation of football supporters as we realise the damage that the events of Friday night could have on our efforts to challenge the continued harassment of Celtic fans by Police Scotland. Ultimately, we should have had greater control of the bodies present within our block and our failure to do so has resulted in events which are unacceptable and we will strive to ensure that such scenes are not repeated." Pompous gibberish!
  20. Sportsound this afternoon was surreal, they talked about Fir Park but somehow managed to turn it into a discussion about modern youth culture. The whole thing was so obviously scripted and I thought at one point Billy Dodds was having a stroke as he almost said something that would upset Celtic and quickly added "I'm not saying this is a Celtic problem specifically..." before Richard Gordon got him back on message. It really was laughable.
