  1. But an SFA spokesman said: â??The embargo on buying players has nothing to do with EBTs so I donâ??t know where this is coming from. It was about the club not paying taxes under the Craig Whyte era.â? We also know that Hearts, (and Falkirk and Motherwell if memory serves) were issued with winding up orders by HMRC for non payment of tax. Hearts were ''penalised" by the SFA by having a transfer embargo imposed when the window was shut. This is just so wrong and clearly corrupt. Surely the RFFF could be utilised to take this to court?
  2. Does the SPL not have minimum requirements for stadiums? Are all of the 24 ''invited'' clubs going to meet these requirements? If not, do they waive those, or give those clubs wanting to join a period of time to comply? What happens if that club is relegated and no longer needs to meet those criteria, but has spent hundreds of thousands of Pounds in doing so? I could go on and on, but clearly, there has been no thought expanded upon this, other than ''oh f**k Peter, we had better say something or else the diddy clubs in the SFL are going to be running Scottish football!'' The sooner that the SPL collapses under the weight of it's own hypocracy, the sooner Scottish football can begin to improve.
  3. Very interesting opinions, and as a bear based in South Africa, I cannot really add to the debate. However, the question that I would pose in response to how a club is viewed as a success would be - Arsenal. As a business, who can fault them? Make profits year after year by selling off their best players and replacing them with promising youngsters. Would their supporters take the same view? Of course not, they expect that the club will be competing with the Man City's and Chelsea's of this world in the transfer market and that they will be challenging for the title and the Champion's league every season. If the UEFA Fair Play is every properly introduced and enforced Arsenal will be in a good place, but if not, they are destined to be also-rans battling for the fourth ECL place. For Rangers it is about getting the balance right and I am not sure that you can ever meet the expectations of external investors (i.e. not supporters) who will demand a return on their initial investment (whether through dividends or increased share value), and the fans, who would want the money to remain within the club.
  4. But it was held in Munich. Would Bayern have taken 250,000 supporters if the final had been held in say, Austria? However, I do think your general point is well made and the reality is that the football in Scotland is viewed worldwide as a bit of a joke. We just will never be able to compete with the Man U's, Real barca etc due to their international TV exposure. That is one of the reasons that i am so keen for us to get an international brand for our kit sponsor. At least in that way we could expect to see the Rangers tops in an Adidas store.
  5. ''And now that Rangers are dragging themselves back to their feet there are still many who refuse to give credit to them or the fans who continue to have come out in massive numbers to ensure their clubâ??s survival. Although they insist Rangers are dead, killed by liquidation, these people continue to shout that the club owe more than £90m in tax, conveniently forgetting the final verdict on the EBT case has still to be announced. It also suits their agenda to link all debts run up by the previous regime to the club in the Third Division. Yet the same folk are determined to make sure Rangers arenâ??t linked with all of the league titles won in the past." Comments are spot on! I haven't been a fan in the past, but he has been fairly even handed in his reporting of late.
  6. Sorry, this comment was in response to the Real Papa Bear's statement, which I am in agreement with.
  7. Morally, I agree with you, of course it is the right thing to do, however, it is massively hypocritical of the SFA to withhold money from the Club but expect that we will pay every football debt. Surely they cannot have it both ways?
  8. Is there any precedent for a newco incurring the debt of an oldco. What happened in the case of Fiorentina?
  9. Apologies for using these terminologies, but it makes it easier to differentiate. Did the payment from Everton for Jelavic go to Oldco and was this done as a lump sum i.e. no installments, cash up front? If there is no benefit to newco, why should we be responsible for any debt that oldco incurred?
  10. I'm a bit ambivalent about Walter returning. On the postive side, 1. He came in after PLG and turned the club around and put us back on winning ways. 2. He could presumably attend all SFA meetings with CG freeing up AMc to spend time laughing with the team on the training ground. 3. He knows the club, journalists, friends within the other SPL clubs etc. 4. However the biggest positive would be that he would only return if he was convinced that CG and Zeus were on the straight and narrow, which would certainly put my mind at ease to a greater extent than has been the case, irrespective of everything that CG has said and done to date. On the negative, 1. Everyone within the playing side would view him as the boss, which would undermine AMc. (Even if he was sitting on the main board as a non executive director, this would still be the case.) 2. If WS was appointed to the holding company board, what value does he bring in terms of business acumen? 3. Because of his close relationship with AMc, would he be prepared to advise Ally to step down, if results continue to be poor? 4. Do we return to anti-football and grind out results in the SL Div 3? No question that it has been successful over the years but surely not needed at lower divisions. 5. It could prevent a much needed overhaul of management and training that a fresh pair of eyes would introduce. Obviously getting way ahead of myself as we dont know if this is definate and in what role he would fulfill, but not sure if the positives outweigh the negatives.
  11. I never wanted Ally to take over the management from Walter, purely because I felt that he had to serve his apprenticeship elsewhere. Get a proven track record of success and then take over at the most successful club in the World. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened this way and we are paying for Ally's apprenticeship with shocking results. I am additionally concerned in that Ally is a shareholder in the holding company and I know from experience that to try to remove a manager who is also a shareholder is a virtually impossible task. I can only hope that Ally realises the job is too big for him and does the honourable thing. No problem with him having a senior role within the club (possibly PR?), but not within the football side. I will always be grateful for him being the only person defending the club during CW's ''reign'' but please Ally, we need a change in the management structure of the football club.
  12. If there was enough demand, would this then enable a representative from the RST to sit on the main board? Would the RST nominate a person or would this be done democratically i.e. all shareholders vote? I like the idea in principal as this would ensure that many more supporters would be able to participate in the IPO, but would like to have some more idea as to the RST involvement.
  13. If we are serious about international branding and global positioning, there can only be one choice (of the brands mentioned) and that has to be Adidas. Right now, I can walk into any Nike store in South Africa and wipe my nose on the green and grey shirts hanging next to the Man U, Arsenal and Barca tops. Charles Green stated that any Rangers supporter world-wide should have access to the club's merchandise wherever we are based and although Puma would be a fair second choice, to me it is a long way behind Adidas.
  14. Elfideldo, what's your view on Calum Gallagher, who has started the season really well, in terms of goal scoring, at least? With the long term injury to Hemmings and last night's potential broken cheek bone suffered by Sandaza, could Gallagher be the next youngster to get a chance in the first team? I thoroughly enjoy reading your reports on the youngsters matches so that when they do make the breakthrough, they are not complete strangers (well to me anyway!) Many thanks
  15. That's a great read and just sums up the hypocrisy that Rangers face from SPL/SFA!
  16. This made me laugh! My guess is that a mysterious benefactor from the ROI will bankroll the SPL for the legal fees!
  17. Anyone else think that Celtic/Celtic supporters will find a way of funding the SPL if it goes to court? After all, the poor wee souls in the SPL have just been carrying out their master's instructions!
  18. Another point to bear in mind is that these types of competition are almost always insured. So in fact the 'risk' to Rangers is limited to the cost of the insurance premium.
  19. I think what should also be remembered is that Ally has a brand new team. The foreign players recently signed would be used to a double shift training, McKay,Macleod, Mitchell etc should have to be dragged away from the ground, leaving only the old pro's (McCulloch, Alexander, Boca, Wallace) who would be used to the single session. Surely Ally could impose this upon the squad without fear of losing the dressing room?
  20. Would have loved Gough to have mentioned Lennon's own tax evasion schemes, as a comparison!
  21. What a tragedy for the Reina family. Sincere condolences. RIP Jack
  22. I am actually reading those comments with tears in my eyes, our of anger and frustration. At the SFL meeting he advised those present (no doubt with various caveats and insinuendos) that the SFA would veto Rangers being able to transfer the SPL share from OldCo to NewCo, even if all of the other SPL Chairmen voted in favour of this. Now he comes out with this! Why should we carry any further sanctions - our only crime is that we failed to pay across PAYE - nothing else has been proven to date. Well Regan, you got what you wished for, Rangers out of the SPL. Now here's a big GTF! Please SFL, if you accept that we needed to be punished for "sporting integrity" as was the common mantra from the SPL Chairmen, then we need to be voted into the SFL 3. Let's rebuild the club from that foundation, change our approach to developing players with the focus being on attracting the best youngsters in Scotland and indeed Worldwide.
  23. I dont think it's about integrity, probably more to do with his age!
  24. I would have thought that the only way that we can play in SFL 1 next season is if we are relegated from the SPL? If the newco has to apply for membership of the SFL, then we would start in Div 3. Can the SPL Chairmen vote in a newly created sanction stating that all Newco clubs are relegated down a division without the SFL having any say in this?
