  1. Nice position for them to be in - 1. screw over your biggest rivals and ensure that you close the gap in terms of number of league titles for at least the next few years: 2. Play your reserve team in Scotland while your strongest team is competing in Europe: 3. Once they have been knocked out of Europe they play their strongest team again and comfortably run away with the league but stress how competitive it was!
  2. I guess that would mean that Boca and Goian are not coming back, if we get Cathcart and Bikey. Just as an aside, I saw a lot of Cathcart when Blackpool were in the EPL and he was well out of his depth. To me he is another Perry, not sure that he would add enough to the team. However, a partnership of Bikey and Boca would be fantastic (all IMHO of course!)
  3. As the title says, is CG looking to get rid of Ally by undermining his appointments and decisions? For example: * Wilson leaves his position to go to an American club. * Yeates Leaves his position to start his own business. * Murray loses his job 'after an investigation' * Kyle is released * Sandaza is sacked. Only speculation on my part, but could oor Charlie be attempting to force Ally into a position whereby AMc believes that he has to resign on principal? I dont have any issues with any of the steps that CG has taken to date, the club has been in desperate need of overhauling, and after the best part of a year in charge, CG and the shareholders have taken attempts to do so. The reason for the query is that certainly in the case of the first three, all were close to Ally while KK and Fran were signed by him and cost us serious money without really providing us with any value. As we have seen, the opinion on Ally's management skills (or lack thereof), is seriously divisive amongst the Rangers fans and if Ally was to get the sack, it would further alienate opinions. However, if he 'resigned', then CG would still be seen to be the good guy in all of this. Thoughts?
  4. The difficulty for the club is that he revealed his pay structure with the exact amounts. If you were a free agent likely to sign for Rangers on 01 September 2013, and had scored say 15 goals in the SPL during this current season and Rangers offered a starting salary of say 3k per week, would you accept knowing that Sandaza had been earning more than that in his first season in Div 3? I do think that it is a Pandora's box, and while he will not be the first player to be 'tapped up', he was the first one caught. It is opportunistic on the part of the club that he has been poor and it is a easy excuse to get rid of a non performing high earner but I am slightly concerned about the precedent being set. Having said that, Rangers were in a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation.
  5. To be fair to Alexander, it does seem strange that an outfield player of the same age (Jig) is offered a 2 year deal, while this is not being offered to a Goalkeeper, who generally have longer careers. Would suggest that Ally didn't fight as hard for NA as he did for Jig?
  6. If, as has been well publicised, Rangers have a wage bill of £7m, I cannot imagine that all of the other SFL 3 clubs combined would have a wage bill anywhere close to £1m! No facts to back that up, just guess work on my part.

It's breaking my heart because I've got to say, I would be extremely sympathetic to ANY manager that's been working under the circumstances Ally has had to, but this is Ally McCoist we're talking about. Does he deserve to be treated differently because of who he is? In a word... YES and especially given all of the circumstances at the club since he took over from Walter!!! Something else that's annoying me is that there's a fair number of fans who didn't want Ally taking over from Walter in the first place and since he took over a lot of them have been chip chip chipping away at him at every single opportunity. There's no stopping them, it's like an unstoppable fully laden freight train. The circumstances surrounding the club this season and last season don't matter a jot to them. The fact that it's Super Ally doesn't matter a jot to them. They didn't want him being the manager of Rangers and they'll do anything to get him out. Some of these people even have the audacity to say that they want Ally to succeed when they don't want him to succeed at all. There's people who just want him out and they'll happily see our performances deteriorate with a snowball effect if it means their wish of getting rid of Ally comes true. I remember a phrase "we deserve better". Well, Ally McCoist deserves better too. Zappa, you have made some very valid comments and only time will tell if you are correct or not. I will openly state that I did not believe that Ally should have been appointed to replace WS, so am not a Johnny-come-lately jumping on the bandwagon based upon poor performances and results. However, I do not know of any single Rangers fan who is not desperate to see Ally turn it around. Ally was my hero growing up, and as a footballer and a man, he has my utmost respect and admiration. However, I love Rangers more than I love Ally McCoist and if it means that Ally needs to vacate the manager's position to take us to the next level, then so be it. If we take your points and discuss them 1. Does he deserve to be treated differently because of who he is? In a word... YES - Ally has been treated differently. Had it been a PLG or an Alex Mcleish, they would have lost their job already. 2. Squad that is nowhere near the standard of Rangers teams over the past 20 years - He is playing against the weakest opposition that we have ever played against and still battling to put together cohesive tactics, strategies and performances. 3. despite not having had a full season in charge with a notable amount of cash to spend on improving the squad - Ally's track record when buying players has been woeful to say the least. Again, there are mitigating circumstances such as the Craig Whyte offers which made us a laughing stock, but overall, of the players bought, how many would you say have been an unqualified success? Also, do we need to buy expensive SPL players to win the 2nd and first divisions? (all things considered re league reconstruction) 4.despite not having had a full season in charge without unprecedented circumstances which seriously affect the squad to deal with - The unprecedented circumstances were during the close season and fully agree that this hugely disrupted preparations. However, we are now 8 months into the season and have seen no signs of improvement. In fact, most would argue that we are going backwards. 5. despite helping to hold the club together when it was on it's knees - without a doubt, Ally deserves enormous credit for this and should retain a role within the club. I dont believe that there is a bear alive who wouldn't want Ally to remain within the club in recognition of this fact. Does it have to be as manager? Despite my concerns, there is no doubt that Ally will be in charge for next season for commercial as much as footballing reasons. However, Ally could make life so much easier for himself a. Get an experienced 2IC. (Jimmy Calderwood?) b. If we are going to go the Ajax route (Ally has expressed his admiration for the manner in which they develop youngsters but accept that they are a selling club) then have the academy as our key feature. Bring in continental coaches (Arthur Numan would crawl over broken glass to have a role within the club, Brian Laudrup is a club ambassador [iIRC]) who attract the best of Scottish and international young talent. c. All teams (from youth to seniors) play using the same formation, style and tactics, so that when a youngster breaks into the team, he immediately understands his role. d. All players bought should fit into the criteria of having a sell on value. e. Should we not be looking at players within SFL 1 and 2 who have done well over this past season. QOS are smashing teams week in and week out. Who are their better players? Should we not be looking at some of their players who have a track record of success in SFL 2? Nice and easy being a keyboard manager and I sympathise with the difficulties, but the club will always be bigger than one man.
  8. If this was said privately, coach to player in the dressing room, who could argue with this? Ian Durrant thrived on the pressure as a youngster coming into the first team, so is uniquely qualified to give advice of this nature, however, coming out in the press with this just smacks of ready made excuses. Hugely disappointed with these comments, when you consider that of the experienced SPL players only one or two would get pass marks for the season. Personally, I think that CG's recent comments about the worst team in the history of Rangers and ID comments above, are all about trying to deflect some of the heat off Ally.
  9. â??When you say the English FA and Football League donâ??t want us, when you look at some of these clubs, Portsmouth have gone bust three times in four years. Two English clubs have come to me and said: â??Buy us and close us down. Take us for free and take on the liabilitiesâ??. I think that the English FA closed that ' American franchise' idea when Wimbledon was moved to MK and became MK Dons. IIRC the club could only be moved within a small distance from their home ground i.e. West Ham to the Olympic stadium is acceptable as it is in the same parish, but Chesterfield to Glasgow would be unacceptable.
  10. Would love to see Brian come in and head up the Academy. I would be drooling at the thought of him passing on some of those sublime skills to the youngsters. There is no way that we should ever appoint a manager who will serve his apprenticeship at Rangers. Have we not learnt from JG and AMc?
  11. FRANCISCO Sandaza has been suspended by the club pending an investigation into comments made by the player in a recorded telephone conversation. The club, Francisco and his agent have had discussions and manager Ally McCoist also spoke with the player, who did not take part in todayâ??s training session. Francisco will not return to the club while the investigation is underway. Rangers regard this is an extremely serious issue but there will be no further comment until the inquiry, which could take a week, has been completed.
  12. I think it would depend on how the voting went. If it was say 8 against and 1 for, then it could be a non starter, but if it was say 5 - 4, then down to the balance of the SFL clubs.
  13. 'More than 12,000 people had signed an e-petition calling on the UK Government to launch a probe into HMRC’s investigation and the suspected leaks.' When I signed it, there were already 32,000 who had signed! Funny how they lost 20,000 people in the telling of the story! We also lost 15,000 or near enough supporters who attended the QP game as well!
  14. I think we need to be honest about this and accept that he only came to play in the SFL for the money anyway, so it does not come as a shock that he is a mercenary, willing to 'play' for however offers him the most. In my opinion, he has done next to nothing for us, from day 1, so if he was to leave and free up his wages, that can only be good for us. I think the same can be said of all of the SPL players that came across to us, it was only ever about the money.
  15. Interesting article on FF by David Edgar "Usually I'm not one for hypothetical questions - it is, as memorably described in 30 Rock, merely lying to your brain - but I'll beg your indulgence just this once. Imagine the following scenario; you have used a supplier for a number of years. Their service levels are generally good, so much so that during hard times for them, you found ways to get more money to them. This you did without prompting, simply because you felt it was the right thing to do. You have a great relationship â?? in fact, more than that; having helped them in their bleakest period, youâ??d say you have a bond. However, their standards have slipped recently, massively so. Not only is the quality of their work unacceptable â?? some would shoddy â?? but their workers seem not to care, displaying a dreadful attitude that reeks of complacency. You decide to complain to the management. They tell you that, in fact, you are mistaken. The workers have had a tough time of it. They are going to hire a few new ones soon and it will sort everything out. Actually, come to think of it, they arenâ??t even doing that badly. A director who has been at the firm for a number of years says that the CEO shouldnâ??t listen to customers anyway, as all they ever do is gripe. You then find that those workers, the really lazy ones who you are financing, have taken to social media to laugh at you and all the other customers. Would you give any money to that firm again? Would you hell. But thatâ??s what Rangers expect of us as the posties get ready to bring round the season ticket forms for 2013/14. Now, itâ??s a flawed comparison, no doubt. We are supporters, not just customers. We love our club, weâ??ve been through the mill with them and we stood up to be counted. We donâ??t do walking away. But the fact is that, unpalatable as it is to some, we are customers. This is the 21st Century and attitudes have changed. I know we all like to be wonderfully staunch, but the fact is money is tight for many and the pressure to cut back on unnecessary outgoings is always there. When you are a family looking at economies, a season ticket, with its upfront payment, is always going to be a quick and easy one. When the football being played is entertaining, then it is a pressure we just donâ??t succumb to. When itâ??s not so free-flowing and joyous, there has always been that bond between player and fan. My club is your club is our club. Even when that was eroded (as it has been at every major club) by the money players earn, the club was usually engaged in a title race. There was enough to keep you going. What we have now is really, really terrible football. Almost indescribably bad. Given the standard of the opposition, what we are serving up most weeks is evidence that the current Rangers side really does have a strong claim to be the worst ever. They are, more often than not, sluggish, half-paced, unimaginative, dull, sloppy and content to get by against part-timers. There is no vision, spark or drive. This is bad. This is very bad. What has enraged thousands of fans, however, is that the players and staff donâ??t seem to care. In the days after the Annan defeat, we learned that Kyle Hutton had won the Murray Park darts tournament, was going to spend the afternoon watching a DVD after finishing training at 1pm and was attending a concert with several of his team-mates. How do we know this? He told us himself through the magic of social media. When fans pointed out that Hutton, whose performances recently have been so bad that he resembled a drunk wearing lead boots caked in lard, may be better served maybe spending more time in training, he took a hissy fit any toddler would be proud of. After telling fans to â??bore offâ??, he and Darren Cole exchanged jokes about the ridiculousness of anyone suggesting they do extra training. To put this in context, they laughed at Rangers fans for having the temerity to want them to better themselves as professionals. And they did it in public! Now, Iâ??m not going to swoon at young players for acting like spoiled, overpaid prima donnas. Weâ??ve seen dozens of Kyle Huttons come and go. Itâ??s the arrogance of youth. He gives the impression that his life would be perfect if only it wasnâ??t for the bothersome Saturday afternoon football matches. He might think heâ??s all of that and a bag of potato chips, but history suggest that only one or two of any crop of youngsters will make it and, given his attitude and limited talent, it isnâ??t going to be him. No, what enraged me is that this attitude is fostered at best and encouraged at worst by the management team. Kyle Hutton and Darren Cole both felt comfortable openly mocking their fans in a public forum that they knew was filled with supporters. Ally has to publicly back the squad. I get that. But a listen to his interviews over the season â?? not just after matches, but before and even during â?? make one thing abhorrently clear; he really thinks weâ??re doing okay. Sure, heâ??d prefer we were doing better, but weâ??re supposed to be winning the league and we are. The fact itâ??s against bank clerks and panel beaters doesnâ??t matter. And his mentor is even worse. Listen to Charles Green: â??Walter Smith said to me the other week he said â??look Charles when you look out there it is not pleasant but you have to remember when we were winning nine in a row, we were getting booed off thenâ??. Source - STV In other words, â??never mind what the fans say. These ungrateful sods are always moaning. Ignore them. Their opinion doesnâ??t matter.â?? This attitude has been allowed to flourish at Ibrox, and it is coming home to roost. Well, be very careful Rangers. The players, cocooned in their Murray Park bubble, may feel that they are untouchable and our concerns are baseless, but thatâ??s where they are wrong. Not just about whether this season is acceptable â?? and it isnâ??t â?? but about the whole dynamic. Because, as any businessman will tell you, when your customers are upset, it doesnâ??t matter if itâ??s valid or not. What matters is making them happy again, and quickly. Otherwise they will stop giving you money. It isnâ??t rocket science. Walter, love him as we all do, is from a different generation, the Murray School of thinking where the fans are a necessary nuisance whose cash is needed, but whose opinions are not. Itâ??s archaic and in these times itâ??s downright dangerous. Charles Green is at a pivotal point of his stewardship. His forecasts rely on the continued support â?? the amazing support â?? of the Rangers Family. He canâ??t take it for granted, and neither can those who we continue to fund. And if people canâ??t see why we are upset, then get them out the door and donâ??t let the door hit their arse on the way out. Weâ??ve had enough of low-to-no standards and being held in contempt by youngsters whose wages we pay and whoâ??ve delivered precisely nothing in their career yet. Let me end this with a friendly warning to Charles â?? donâ??t take our kindness for weakness. Itâ??s only you who will lose.
  16. Just read newsnow myself. Every single journal has "Rangers fans boycott" as their headline!
  17. Once again, misleading headline from the media. Nowhere does Andy Kerr call for a boycott, he is saying that a natural consequence of Rangers not being promoted would be fans losing interest and drifting away from the game. But obviously, it is more eye catching to suggest that Rangers fans will extend a boycott!
  18. Wow, 18 years! I remember it like it was yesterday. Was devastated when I heard the news.
  19. Absolute no from me: 1. Existing squad would be humiliated on a regular basis. 2. Even if the embargo was lifted, Ally would then go and buy a new squad, putting us back into the financial position that got us where we are today. 3. Even if Ally did this (and no guarantee that all signings are going to be a success going on track record), we would not be able to play in Europe for another few seasons yet. 4. Celtic would still canter to the league, with our presence giving them the legitimacy that this season's tainted title will never allow. 5. The gloating from the other teams fans (i.e. only there because we are the club of the ''establishment" whatever that may mean.) 6. The rawness of how we were treated, would almost certainly result in physical conflict when we play away from home. I would never want us to be branded as having a problem with "hooligans". 7. The bailing out of the diddy clubs by the power of the blue pound. 8. We will have missed out on an opportunity to implement a footballing philosophy and a vision for the club. We go back to finding short term solutions, driving us deeper and deeper into debt. 9. You still have Regan and Doncaster in place, with Liewell pulling their strings. I do expect that at the very minimum we will be promoted to the second tier (should the 12-12-18 blueprint proceed). For all of their bizarre decisions to date, I do think that even they realise that Scottish football cannot survive without the Old Firm matches, and need to do everything possible to accelerate this, all within the ambit of 'sporting integrity'. They will quote the Stranraer precedent all imho of course.
  20. "Most clubs don't have a clear vision, they allow the manager to set the direction, then they change the manager so often, they get stuck in a merry-go-round," said Huw Jenkins, the chairman. "We had to go down a different route, to compete with clubs who think spending money is the only way to get success." Although I agree with the entire article, I am particularly impressed with the comments of the Swansea chairman. Have the club set the vision and get in a manager who subscribes to that philosophy. We can no longer work on the principal of buying players to meet immediate requirements, it has to be purchasing with the potential for selling, which requires a longer term vision, not a quick fix.
  21. The major disappointment in all of this is that I would have expected a young professional footballer to constantly want to improve himself. It shouldnt need to be driven by the manager.* If I recall correctly, Scholes, Giggs and Beckham were all inspired by Cantona's training regime. He would attend the normal morning session with the team and after the lunch, he would be back out again working on weaknesses in his game. They all took this on board and as mentioned, Beckham would constantly practice his dead ball technique. Hasn't done him any harm, has it Kyle! * Having said that, if the players were not voluntarily putting in the extra work after a performance like Saturday's I would be kicking their arses up and down the training ground. There has to be consequences for poor performances, and if it means that training is extended beyond the normal 2 and a half hours and golf, monster munch and nandos is cancelled for a week, perhaps we would get some type of response.
  22. He's not a bad player at all, big and strong and really good in the air, so if they can move on Boca and Goian to free up wages, I would be in favour. However, i would equally have no doubt that we could find a good CB playing in SFL 1 or 2, who would do a better job than the current incumbents! The biggest concern with the article is that he is looking to get himself into the shop window for his international prospects. That is just not gonnie happen in SFL 2 (all things considered).
  23. Agree entirely with comments above. Rather than rush Macleod back, I would like to see Robbie Crawford get a wee run of games under his belt. I do think that he could be one of the few youngsters that could make it, when we get back into the top division.
  24. “This is something that we can stamp out, something that we can deal with and it has not place in society and definitely not in Charles Green’s Rangers.” ‘Charles Green’s Rangers’ (bar the Craig Whyte saga) has got to be the worst phrase ever to come out from inside our club. There is a certain aura about Green’s attitude and that statement that can leave you thinking that he is getting ‘too big for his boots’. To actually have the audacity to say that something like that is dangerously wrong. You can have all the shares in the world, but Rangers will never have anybody’s name before it and will never belong to one person; not now and not ever. Rangers belongs to the fans. This, also coming from the same person who spoke of Rangers fans sending him death threats and had to later apologise. Tin-pot dictator comes to mind! Glad to see that I am not the only one thinking this!
