  2. Rangers investor to crack Blue Pitch and Margarita mystery Greig Cameron Deputy Business Editor Friday 13 December 2013 A RANGERS shareholder with decades of experience in fund management has begun high-powered moves to reveal the identities of the people behind the secretive Blue Pitch Holdings and Margarita Funds. The investment professional, who asked not to be named, is a long-standing season ticket holder at Ibrox, said he has consulted a "mainstream" law firm in London to investigate the options available. He intends to take the matter further down the legal route if the board at Rangers International Football Club (RIFC) are unable to provide answers. He said he wanted to know what exact efforts the current board (RIFC) has made to uncover who is behind Margarita and Blue Pitch. He said: "I am getting a bit irritated with this obscurity about Blue Pitch and Margarita. "If [the board] say we don't know then I want them to make a public report saying that. If they do know who is behind it they should be telling us. "I think the fans really need to know the identities of the people behind these holdings. That is only fair." Blue Pitch has four million shares in RIFC, equivalent to more than 6% of the share capital, with Margarita holding 2.6 million, or 3.6%. Both are believed to be backing the current regime at the RIFC annual general meeting on December 19. Shareholders are being asked to vote at the AGM whether to retain chairman David Somers, chief executive Graham Wallace, finance director Brian Stockbridge and non-executive director Norman Crighton. Along with several other resolutions there will also be votes on whether to accept Malcolm Murray, Paul Murray, Alex Wilson and Scott Murdoch. The fund manager indicated he will pursue the identities of Blue Pitch and Margarita regardless of how the AGM turns out. He said he would like to have access to the latest financial incomings and outgoings at RIFC and see details of commercial contracts. The possibility of disenfranchising secretive shareholders was raised last month by former RIFC chairman Malcolm Murray. That option is thought to relate to a section of the Companies Act 2006 which states a company has the right to know the beneficial owners of shares held in nominee accounts. A company has to maintain a register of such interests which must be available for shareholders to see. If that is not made available one possibility is for the voting rights of the shares to be suspended. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/h...stery.22943607

We are a totally independent group played by no one from the back. Our 3 aims, Ibrox never to be sold, no hidden items in accounts and a clean board came out before we were even aware of the requisisionist movement and will remain in place regardless of who holds power in Ibrox, a point I made even to Jim McColl when he introduced me to Nacho Novo before the recent fans meeting. He introduced me as " the guy from sons of Struth who has been organising protests against the current board" I answered along the lines of " and yes Mr McColl and would do so again should the guys you wish on board done anything wrong" You ask if I am in contact with Paul Murray. I have met him on 3 occasions, once at the meeting at clyde blowers months ago that we made a statement about, I met him for a short time whilst he and Malclom Murray done their interviews for our protest video and I met him briefly before and after the fans meeting a fortnight ago I have called Paul on a couple of occasions for example when a blog stated incorrectly that the nominees planned to sell and leaseback Ibrox and as this is totally against one of our three main aims then I felt it necessary to contact him for clarification. The recently published Rangers Constitution obviously proved he told me the truth during this heated conversation. I take no instruction from him or any other nominees to clarify your view You ask I don't reveal who I am but just want clarification that Murray is not part of group and we do what we do on our own with other fans backing I hid behind no false names, my name is Craig Houston and our group is made up of many fans unaffiliated mostly but does include members of TBO, TRS, UB, RST and both RSA plus great support form Baillieston True Blues The trip to London was paid for by me, I got the first train down and sleeper return that night at a cost of approx. £160, no hotel required. As for banners they have came from 3 sources, TBO & UB's have provided many FOC, Andy Smillie has provided money for several more and another independent fan who is not a nominee has paid for the ones your guys like to refer to as the pishy bedsheet ones. The Baillieston True Blues have provided funds for the advertising van that we had. If I have missed any expenses I am happy to reply in another piece. As you claim at the end of your piece the rangers fans deserve to know then may I ask for transparency from your group? The group you co founded met Brian Stockbridge and Jim Hannah from Rangers and claimed at the time you would make public the findings of this meeting once your group had the opportunity to ask questions to the nominees. I know many of your group attended the fans meeting last week and now for the benefit of these same Rangers fans I believe for transparency you should now make the details of this meeting public, purely for the benefit of the same Rangers fans you wished transparency from our group For Rangers Craig
  6. Joint statement The comments from the chairman are deeply troubling and we call for an urgent meeting so that he can acquaint himself with the reality of the feelings of the support. We cannot run a club by press releases written by highly paid spin doctors In the current dire financial predicament the club finds itself in, the job of an impartial chairman should be to consider the views of the vast swathes of shareholders who have not been impressed by the performance of the company; and the concerns of the supporters who fund the club. We are disappointed that Mr Somers has not yet seen to fit to meet with representatives of the support and we feel it is imperative that such a meeting takes place before the AGM.

  8. Fraud investigation underway at Ibrox as group vying for control of Rangers urges fans to take the chance of a lifetime 27 Nov 2013 14:16THE group of investors and businessmen, led by Jim McColl, has released a statement to the Daily Record calling for fans to vote for change at the AGM on December 19. Jim McColl recently met with Rangers fans and wants them to embrace his plan for the future SNS THE group of rebel shareholders vying for control of Rangers has released a statement reiterating their determination to have four individuals elected to the club’s board at the forthcoming AGM. The statement, released to the Daily Record, also states that the position of financial director Brian Stockbridge remains ‘completely untenable’ and that the Serious Fraud Office is now investigating “payments made to certain shareholders around the time of the IPO.” Led by businessman Jim McColl the group also urge fans “to take a one-off opportunity to select the best Board to take the Club forward” on December 19. The full statement: In July we embarked upon a campaign to remove certain directors from the Board of Rangers Football Club and to prevent Charles Green from returning to the Club which he was attempting to do at that time. We were supported by other like minded individuals including major institutional shareholders and the fans who were all concerned about the apparent lack of corporate governance and financial transparency. In particular we were all concerned about the significant outflows of cash since the IPO and the obvious dysfunctionality of the Board. Since the IPO ,11 months ago, the Club has had 3 Chairman, 3 Chief Executives and 3 Nomads. This is highly unusual for a public company and may even be unprecedented. We have been relentless in our pursuit of change as have the fans with whom we are totally aligned. Together we have already achieved a lot. In the last 4 months we have seen Green banished from the Club followed by 3 of his fellow directors. Of the 6 directors who were on the Board when we started, only 2 remain. In the past 3 weeks there have been 3 new appointments to the Board. On paper these look like credible individuals who appear to be independent of the Green or Whyte regimes. They will have the opportunity over the coming weeks to prove this and to gain the trust of the fans which they will have to earn. We believe that the position of Brian Stockbridge is completely untenable and he should resign or be voted off the Board at the AGM. He has presided over significant outflows of cash from the Club since the IPO. In addition his personal conduct has fallen a long way short of the standards expected at Rangers Football Club. We have been provided with a statement from an ex-employee of the Club questioning various payments made to certain shareholders around the time of the IPO. The ex-employee has reported the matter to the Serious Fraud Office. On October 14 we won our case at the Court of Session to have four individuals, Paul Murray, Malcolm Murray, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson, nominated for election to the Board at the AGM. As well as being supporters of the Club all 4 men have had highly successful business careers. To help the Club all 4 men are prepared to waive any director fees until the Club is back in the SPL if they are elected at the AGM. All existing directors will be up for re-election on December 19 at the AGM and the shareholders will therefore have a one-off opportunity to select the best Board to take the Club forward. We will continue our campaign to the AGM and we would encourage all fans and shareholders to support the changes we have been fighting for over the past 4 months. After December 19 we must move forward with stability, integrity and transparency as we rebuild the Club back to the highest levels of Scottish and European football. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fraud-investigation-underway-ibrox-group-2856892

  10. in 1904, Rangers had visited Vienna to play in a tournament celebrating 10 years of First Vienna FC’s existence. Despite putting 9 goals past the Austrians, Rangers were impressed enough to enter into talks to sign their goalkeeper, Karl Pekarna. He became the first professional Austrian footballer when he moved to Glasgow. Pekarna would have been a teammate of Robertson’s for a few months, before both leaving the club in 1905, Pekarna returning to Vienna due to homesickness.1 http://scottishcomedyfc.com/tag/karl-pekarna/
  11. The formation of Chelsea as a football club is a slightly strange one in that the club were set up to make use of the stadium, rather than vice versa. In 1904, Gus Mears had acquired the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium, intending to use it as a football ground. When Fulham turned down the chance to use it…he set up his own club, Chelsea, naming them after the neighbouring borough. Hence, Chelsea actually play in Fulham2 John Tait (Jacky) Robertson The first player to sign for the club was Robertson, then a 28 year-old Rangers player with 16 Scotland appearances to his name (captaining the side on 3 occasions3 ). One of his notable appearances for Scotland saw the national team playing in the colours of Lord Rosebery (something they did on at least 9 occasions between 1881 and 1951) in a match in which they defeated England 4-1. Robertson captained the side that day and was told by his Lordship, “I have never seen my colours so well sported since Ladas won the Derby.”4 Robertson signed on at Chelsea to be player-manager. He became the West London club’s first signing, first manager…and as it would turn out, first scorer (in a 1-0 away win over Blackpool on the 9th of September, 19055 ). In their first season, Chelsea finished 3rd in the 2nd Division, one place off promotion. Strangely, the next season, he decided to quit in November, with Chelsea again sitting third in the table. They would go on to be promoted at the end of the season. Shortly after quitting Chelsea he took up a new position…as player-manager of Glossop.
