    Your assertion above that it would only be good manners to apologise and reference to the tweet being offensive to any Muslim bear seems somewhat inconsistent with your own suggested wording in post 174.

    Perhaps to defuse the situation it might be helpful for Chris Graham to apologise if anyone was offended by his tweet and state that it was sent as an immediate reaction to the atrocities in Paris. Personally, I think, given the public nature of twitter, that it was not the smartest of tweets to send and given the media attention it has received it would not surprise me if his other tweets are subject to scrutiny.

    I suspect the directors having watched the Cowdenbeath and QoS games are now more acutely aware of the need for a quick change if the club is to have any chance of winning the play-offs. A sort term appointment for McCall seems a reasonable idea assuming of course that he is willing to take it. I rather hope if offered the opportunity that he does accept otherwise we might see the names of Ally and Walter in the running. McCall, of course, might not want to take it unless there are assurances about some long term future role. I would suggest, however, that for the longer term it would be good to see the board looking beyond the UK, to Holland, Spain and so on and not just restrict themselves to who might be available in Scotland/England.

    Agree re pre-Fulham. Likeable; depends on whether it affects players' motivation and whether it puts players off moving to the club. Anyway, it would seem that King is not in a big hurry to appoint and also appeared to be keener on a coach rather than a manager.

    His last spell as a manager at Fulham was not successful and if the media reports are anything to go by he is not the most likeable of individuals and therefore I believe his appointment would not be a positive one for Rangers.

    Its good to be optimistic but given that the last share issue was not exactly a success do you have any evidence for thinking there might now be big investment people willing to invest in the club. I thought at his press conference King was quite cautious on this issue.

    I tend to go along with Craig's assessment of the situation. The part of today's statement where it hints at satisfying SD might be a warning to King to co-operate with Llambias and Leach otherwise the finds will not be forthcoming and King and others will have to find a quick injection of cash to deal with the working capital requirements in March. Furthermore, it might be that there is a clause whereby if SD is not satisfied they can demand immediate repayment in which case King etc would also have to find 10 million in addition to the working capital requirements. In the statement released today Llambias and Leach also suggest they reached out to King but were rebuffed so the reference to the loan facility might just be a tactic by them to reach some mutual understanding with King otherwise there might be immediate financial consequences for King. I would also have thought that although King might want to rid himself of SD's financial involvement he is aware that the loan is interest free and therefore a cheap source of capital, all be it one that comes with strings attached, that is, the security and right to nominate two directors.

    I saw the article by Gow as a response to the adverse media attention being given to certain songs coming from the Rangers support in the OF game and Raith game. One of the main points that Gow made was that the adverse publicity was not helpful to Rangers and that the cessation of songs by the supporters that are construed to be sectarian would be a positive step in reducing the criticism. You appear to have an alternative reading of the article but since you did not expand on your pithy comment it is difficult to discern what that reading might be.

    There seems a stark choice here; keep the present board which appears a shambles with a question-mark over their concern for Rangers or vote for an alternative with Dave King and friends where some are expressing a little concern about their potential policies. The latter group seems the best choice unless we think that an Abramovich figure is suddenly going to appear. Based on the last few years this looks unlikely.

    The situation with Llambias being one of the Mash nominated directors is an interesting one. I did wonder if the fact he was re-appointed at the agm was taken to mean that he had become a shareholder appointment, particularly since he was first appointed as a non-executive and then became the chief executive office. On a related issue, the loan agreement with Mash indicates that up to two directors could be nominated by them to serve on the board of Rangers Football Club Limited but Llambias seems to have been considered as a board member of Rangers International Football Club plc.

    I believe Dave King acknowledged the need for 'serious' funding in the press conference and that the new Board would be looking to a number of long term investors to provide that funding. I am not quite sure what else you expect from him. For him to state an actual sum is not possible at the moment because he lacks information on the financial position within the club and what investment needs to be made to its infrastructure.

    I thought Gough spoke quite well at the press conference. In a vein similar to Dave King he gave thoughtful and measured responses to questions. I also thought it was quite cute for King not to turn it into a personal challenge against Ashley as this would simply have given the present board further ways to attack King and might not have gone down too well with institutional investors. At the moment King is setting the agenda by giving an account, all be it a sketchy one, of his plans for the future and what should be the key priorities of the board. This contrasts with the current board and their NOMAD who instead go for ad hominem attacks on King; the lack of any vision for going forward and the silence from Ashley on this is a sign surely that they are on the back foot. My one minor regret is that King did include another individual in his team; someone with unimpeachable standing who would find favour with AIM.

    Andy Sorry to see you might consider my post as a bit of a piss take because generally I consider your posts to be some of the most informed on the forum. furthermore, as one of the other posters has observed I have been a member for quite a while. It seemed to me that there was considerable negativity regarding the five loanees from Newcastle which I thought in certain respects was misplaced. I see them as potentially helping Rangers obtain promotion to the Premiership next year. The longer we stay in the championship the greater the losses we will run up, the more funding we need and the less that will therefore be available to rebuild the team. Given that even Dave King doesn't have bottomless pockets I see remaining in the present league as detrimental to the club. In a normal world would we want to see five loanees foisted on a manager without his agreement. No, we would not. However, these are not normal times; as was seen in the game against Celtic, and lots of other teams, the team is poor, K. McD. is merely keeping a seat warm for some new incumbent and therefore pragmatically I saw this as an opportunity to enhance the chance of Rangers being promoted, though this will ultimately depend on the quality of the five players. In response to critics who suggested that Ashley is now running the complete show, in reality he already did and I don't think these player loans materially affect that position. As an aside here, I don't think Ashley from a business point of view wants us to remain in the Championship and that gave him an incentive to sanction the loans. He may have other reasons for the player loans but on that matter I think we have to wait and see. Now, do I want Ashley to remain in charge. No, because I believe he sees the club purely as a vehicle to further his business interests and I think as fans and I hope Dave King and the 3 bears see it as more than that.

    A Newcastle friend of mind told me that prior to being selected to go to Rangers the five players had to pass three criteria relating to skill, pace and strength. The first test required each of the five players to take a corner which the first defender could not cut out. All the Newcastle players passed this test though one corner ended up near the corner flag on the other side but nevertheless he was deemed to have passed the test. As an aside when Aird attempted the same test he required four attempts for his ball to evade the first defender, though in his defense he did slightly slip in his run up to the second attempt. The second test relating to pace required all five players to run a 100 metres in under 13 seconds. All passed this test though one was clocked at 12.9 seconds. John Daly attempted this test and it took him 52 seconds, but to be fair he did have to have a break at 50 metres to regain his breath. The final test related to strength is known as the Virgin Von Dike-Law test in which you have to attempt to take the ball of a midfielder as he gallops up field and avoid being palmed off to a distance of less than 1.5 metres (this being the normal distance achieved by Nicky law). This test proved to be the most difficult one for the Newcastle boys as the galloping midfielder chosen was Tiote. However, all again passed this test with palm off distances ranging from 0.1 metres to 1.2metres. Therefore having passed all three tests the five Newcastle players were deemed to be at least as good as if not better than most of the current Rangers squad and were therefore duly dispatched to Ibrox.
