"Moans, groans and protests are pointless." = exactly, the time for them is long past and we didn't carry them out when we should have. The present incumbents couldn't care less re our protests, as for Ashley the'd just stiffen his resolve to crush us further/squeeze the remaining bits of RFC's prostrate body for a few more drops of blood.
-
I am not sure about them being open to legal action as I don't think anyone can be under obligation to accept anything that would result in a dilution of their existing shareholding.
-
I haven't read anyone say anything like that? I think he's acting in good faith and I have never said a word about him not putting money in except inasmuchas it is tragic he is not being allowed to do so. What I have said is that he's being ignored/rebuffed/lied to/shut out by scum of the earth. Scum of the earth who have all the aces, face cards and control of the betting chips. They don't want him in, it's clear and they won't let him in. That has always been and remains the situation. It may well be a marathon not a sprint, but marathons are not endless and this one started long ago, not today. They come to a finish and that finishing line is not far away. If Ashley has the crest as well as everything else and the GreenCo remnants and original shadowy investors are still siphoning off whatever they can = there'll soon be nothing left.

Jim White @JimWhite 2m2 minutes ago Just received this 3-line quote directly from Dave King re #Rangers... Dave King: 'I believe I have made a compelling case for investment and for taking the club forward..' Dave King: 'I cannot see how a board, acting in good faith, can fail to recommend it to shareholders given the current plight of the club..' Dave King: 'Let the shareholders decide.' #Rangers If only we had a board that acted in good faith.....................

Not re King's statement but in the overall scheme of things this vile, wish fulfillment toxic prophecy may not be far wrong - King's not progressed one iota. His statement reads as though he thinks he's been lied to, ignored and will never get to negotiate with the "powers behind the throne". I keep re-reading his statement to see why people find hope in it - I can't, it sounds like he's got nowhere.

True Times4change = it is not a result at all. The toxic and journos stuff is true but will just make them work harder against him, the use of qualifiers "apparently" suggests that he doesn't believe the following statements. As in: " apparently engaged constructively " sounds dubious once far less twice in succession, "hopefully" the board will get back to him - er I doubt it will be soon given Ashley doesn't even acknowledge his existence. And then the killer = "months". Are there "months" left in RFC, in us the fans - isn't that more than enough time for Ashley and/or other Wigs to finish us off? I'm worried by this statement, not cheered by it - where exactly have we progressed ?

Rubbish we'd never have the temerity to plead for gentleness. Time to copy the United of Manchester FC thingy - nothing's left of our club if this is all true (see crest stuff on other thread too)

Newcastle United have become collateral damage in the battle for Rangers
SteveC replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Some posts on FF are suggesting that the badge and crest have already been snaffled up and a paper trail (presumably e-paper) has been found documenting this. Might just be internet blather but, well, it wouldn't be a surprise would it? Here's what I am referring to (from FF) "Going by his tweets it sounds as if the rights to the badge have been sold Alex Oliver @alexo93 · 37m 37 minutes ago Amazed that this paper trail hasn't been burned. Truly are amateur in every sense. Alex Oliver @alexo93 · 35m 35 minutes ago @StuPollock1 to do with image rights and our Ready Badge. Looks like it may have been sold. I've got an article going up soon..." and "The CRO are putting an article up later about the disappearance of the Ready Badge and the article's author Alex Oliver has been tweeting about the imaging rights and the badge this afternoon." and "Heard Charlie, Imran and Ritzvi are involved. Why would people not listen and nip it in the bud a long time ago...."- 141 replies

Merlin is blogging that the deal is off and King will be offski. Unsurprisingly it reads like Toxic dictated it (down to the mis-spelling of a true fan's name) King Deal Is Off The Table October 23, 2014 / billmcmurdo The proposed Dave King deal at Ibrox has fallen through. No agreement could be reached and it is understood Rangers CEO Graham Wallace couldn’t recommend the proposal to the board without proof of funds, answers to legal questions about SFA and AIM “fit and proper” status in relation to Dave King and a failure to identify Murray and Latham’s backers. There was no meeting in Glasgow as reported by the media and Dave King is believed to be headed back to South Africa. This means that any solution to cash flow issues at Ibrox will have to be found without King’s involvement. Dave King should be commenting shortly to confirm he is out of the picture. Let's hope it is just rubbish from the toxic keyboard of RFC haters

Mathew Lindsay's take on proceedings, emboldment mine, suggests everyone is, like us, sitting at their keyboard and guessing?: http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/rangers/dave-still-hoping-to-be-king-of-rangers-185681n.25670564 Former director King discussed his plans for the stricken Ibrox club with Greenock businessman Easdale on the telephone on Tuesday. And a source close to the McGill's bus company tycoon described the negotiations as "amicable" - but added that "many questions remain unanswered". South Africa-based King has joined forces with other concerned fans and put together a £16million rescue package. The Gers do not have enough money to see them to the end of the year despite raising over £3m in a share offering last month. The King camp is confident the offer they have made is too attractive for the current club directors to turn down. Sandy Easdale does not sit on the plc board - but he owns over 5% of the club and holds proxy voting rights for another 20%. So Easdale, whose younger brother James is a director, could block any bid to launch a fresh share issue that would allow King to seize control. The wealthy Scottish businessman, who invested £20m during the Sir David Murray era, returned to his homeland last week. He has banded together with fellow former director Paul Murray and George Letham, who loaned the club £1m earlier this year. The Castlemilk-raised financier made his move after Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley called for an extraordinary general meeting. Ashley, who owns 8.92% of the club, has called for chief executive Graham Wallace and director Philip Nash to be removed. Former Manchester City chief executive Wallace and ex-Arsenal and Liverpool financial guru Nash are believed to be keen on King coming on board. King, who has tax convictions in South Africa, will have to be approved by both the Stock Exchange and the SFA if he succeeds in taking control. Neither Sandy Easdale nor King were available for comment. Meanwhile, Rangers striker Nicky Clark has predicted that the Ibrox club's superior strength in depth could give them an advantage over Hearts this season. Rangers, who have a game in hand, are currently trailing Hearts by nine points in the second tier table. Clark said: "I'm sure Hearts and us will stumble somewhere along the way "I think having a big squad was an advantage right from the start of the season. But we need that because it's a long season."

For what (little) it is worth: Alasdair Lamont @BBCAlLamont 35s36 seconds ago Cambuslang, Scotland Can confirm that Dave King and Sandy Easdale had discussions on Rangers future today. Remains to be seen if they bear fruit. You do, as you should - whereas Ally happily tells us that "to be brutally honest training is just the same as it was back then and I'm very hopeful, absolutely hopeful, that you'll all now see that, to be brutally honest, your worries about us being unfit just because we are fat, slow and overrun by part-timers, is absolutely, to be frank, nonsense because we are, absolutely, definitely the same as 20 years ago,,,," Off camera "what do you mean, the game has evolved...not here it fucking hasn't, lets have a wee kick about where I score the winner and we go to Nandos to celebrate. And then some golf, eh? Or Karaoke.........."

Rangers boss Ally McCoist has warned Richard Foster he will be fighting a losing battle if he mouths off at his own fans again. The full-back was singled out for some heavy stick from sections of the Light Blues support as their side comfortably beat East Fife 2-0 to claim a Petrofac Training Cup semi-final slot. But the frustrated former Aberdeen defender let rip with his own four-letter expletive in reply during a break in play midway through the second half. That sparked another angry outburst from the away support at New Bay View, leaving McCoist to tell Foster there will only be one winner if he continues to take on the fans. He said: "You will never win that battle with the fans, but the irony is not lost on me that when they get a bit of stick back the toys come right out the pram. "Coming from someone who has had more than his fair share of stick from football fans when I played, I can tell you that you will never win that war. "These things happen. I didn't see the incident but I will have a wee word if it is needed - although I wouldn't have thought so.'' http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/439/9528333/-

Zappa - it is like it because it is the same thing, basically. Re King on SSN, does anyone have the exact words? Was this: "Just said on ssn King says he should have an agreement could be made by the end of the week. Says talks have been positive" a direct quote and did he use the word "should"? If so, it is far more positive than the report on FF. Namely: Sky Sports News have reported that they have spoken to Dave King this afternoon. He declined to give a formal statement, but he did say: "Talks have progressed well and he is hopeful that an agreement in principle can be reached before he leaves on Thursday."

Hard to make progress when you move in circles. Especially ever diminishing ones

Ally thinks it was January: "Former director Dave King last week held talks with the Ibrox board on a £16million rescue package. King has teamed up with former director Paul Murray and wealthy fan George Letham, and is expected to hold further discussions over his plans for investment, which would secure a 51 per cent stake in the club. Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has called for an extraordinary general meeting and wants to remove chief executive Graham Wallace and director Philip Nash from the board. McCoist is keen for the rival businessmen to join forces to rescue the club. But whoever comes out on top, McCoist hopes it happens soon and he will be allowed to invest in his squad. Rangers are currently trailing Championship leaders Hearts by nine points, but McCoist believes new arrivals would give his squad added impetus in the title race. He said: “We haven’t heard anything for three or four days, but I’m very hopeful that we could have some good news in the coming days or weeks. “It would be brilliant if there was some kind of funding solution before the end of the year, but we’re not expecting it or relying on it. We haven’t heard anything for three or four days, but I’m very hopeful that we could have some good news in the coming days or weeks “One or two signings in January can make all the difference. I can go back to us signing Graham Roberts from Spurs in 1987. “He was a fantastic signing and helped us kick on. Graeme Souness was always keen on January signings.” Rangers don’t have a scouting department but McCoist and his coaching staff do keep a lookout for signing targets. He said: “We attempt to keep ahead of the game. We don’t have a scouting system but we still watch players and look at those who are out of contract.” Rangers travel to face East Fife tonight in the quarter-final of the Petrofac Training Cup, and McCoist is delighted to have a selection headache up front. Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd both bagged their first league goals of the campaign in the 6-1 thrashing of Raith Rovers on Saturday, and Jon Daly came off the bench to net twice. And with Nicky Clark also pushing for a start, McCoist is thrilled to have healthy competition for places. We have often done so over the last 45 years, not least for the last few seasons,. More importantly we have funded a succession of thieves and charlatans far less footballing mediocrity.
-
Ally is talking about January and to win this division. He quotes the January signing of Roberts by Souness as an example. After all we can hardly expect him to take on Hearts without an even bigger resource advantage than he already has now, could we?
-
Or "you'd be getting into £4m+ territory to save the famous Glasgow Rangers..." which sounds far more reasonable!
