There's a bit of a parallel development in two threads. i put the Ashley+badge story on this thread: http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?66215-Mike-Ashley-calls-for-EGM Please Admin move or keep where it is at your discretion. It's inevitable that the "King" and "Ashley" threads will overlap

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mike-ashley-demanded-ownership-rangers-4404886 Ashley demanded ownership of the Rangers badge in return for an emergency loan, the Daily Record can reveal. The bid was blocked by Ibrox chief executive Graham Wallace, who is battling against Newcastle owner Ashley for control of the club. Ashley yesterday demanded the heads of Wallace and director Philip Nash– just a month after the pair blocked his attempts to take ownership of the club crest. Business experts believe control of the famous badge could bring in millions of pounds in merchandising. Ashley sparked another boardroom crisis at the Glasgow club yesterday when it was announced to the stock market he has called for an extraordinary meeting of Rangers shareholders to bullet Wallace and Nash from their positions. The board reacted by unanimously backing both men, who are also believed to be supporting a multi-million-pound bailout offer from a trio of wealthy of fans – Dave King, Paul Murray and George Letham . But Ashley is determined to press ahead with a power grab of his own after increasing his shareholding in the club to 8.92 per cent . He has been gunning for Wallace and Nash since they booted out his plan to seize the club’s intellectual property including their crests and trademarks. On September 3 we revealed that the Sports Direct boss had tied up a secret deal to buy the naming rights for Ibrox Stadium for just £1. Less than 24 hours later, we told how Ashley had also taken full control of the club’s retail outlets. And last night we received additional information about his foiled plan to become the owner of the club’s badge. Ashley made the demand in talks with Wallace about a potential loan to help the current regime stave off another financial crisis. But Wallace and Nash were against flogging off any more of the family silver to the Londoner. He is already raking in huge profits as part of a kit deal given to him by former chief executive Charles Green. An angry Ashley reacted by informing Wallace that he would take no part in an emergency share issue later that month, which raised £3.2million – short of its £4million target. Rather than give his cash to the club, last week Ashley paid investment firm Hargreave Hale £853,000 to buy 4,265,000 shares at the same 20 pence price as the Rangers offer. And he has now followed that up with yesterday’s hostile attempt to remove Wallace

Probably busy telling us to trust Ashley now

just saw this & it more than deserves another bump

I wish I was as sensible and clear headed as you if that is your dafter side

I long ago started to doubt there was even a meeting at all, far less a race

"Insiderman3" =Deluded internet fantasist p*sh artist, surely? Illiterate, at that.

It's simply life as we know it. Even our only "great white hope" has a history of lying. To an extraordinary extent. And yes, i still want him to take over - he's a lying crook of epic proportions but he is one of ours rather than the succession of lying crooks we've had for the last quarter of a century, none of whom have cared for us. Sad state of affairs = reality

Fixture amendment: @CowdenbeathFC v @RangersFC will be played on Tuesday November 4, kick-off 7.45pm (postponed from October 11) #SPFL

I didn't even vote or I'd have increased the differential towards King (and I don;t "worship" him, far from it - he's an out and out **** too, a serial liar and cheat but he just happens to be a Bear. so he'd use his mendacity for, rather than against, us ) :-) I know, Frankie - it's just I'm tired of such things. "Fun" and "light relief" they bring me not. We could have forecast those percentages - what we need is something that matters, something that has an effect. Things, amazingly, are still getting worse - worse by the week.
-
Yes but King goes on to say he has not been involved in any discussions with the board. That directly contradicts the article - no spin or diversion there. Could just be a lie, however. if you lie repeatedly under oath in court you are not going to baulk at lying to a Retard "journalist" or to lie to a BBC "spokesthingy". Ashley wanting to remove Wallace suggests there may have been a discussion....but then again, he's plenty of reason to want to do that anyway. AGM time - time for the "ol' switcheroo to confound the plebs"....

Yes and I am afraid a zillion polls (sorry Frankie) on Gersnet or elsewhere in disenfranchised, anonymous, open to abuse internet land will make exactly zero difference to anything.
-
Gosh, I wonder what on Earth could make them think that....................
-
King is denying this happened. Not that anyone's word is trustworthy - they've all lied under oath, and barefaced to cameras

Gersnet Prediction League 2014/15 (prediction league for Rangers games only!)
SteveC replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
He obviously went on holiday in an optimistic mood! -
i didn't know that...I wish I still didn't! Not true - it is always better to know. Just an emotional response.

I invested what for me was a lot of money in RFFF, my mum, desperate to help but with far more pressing monetary needs and yet felt she had to , asked me how she could..and so she doubled my input there. I still don't know what or why...but there was a feeling of we had to do something. But, really, you are just confirming my point above - none of what we say or do ever works. It's just pub hot air in the forums (and often disgustingly, bear upon bear fighting) and RST, RFF, RF , BR = NOT WORKING, not close to working. This is Rangers, ffs, all those fans we have worldwide (supposedly) and we have nothing like the presence of fans from clubs with much smaller fanbases, nothing even remotely like them. At least St Mirren fans would all have said "booooooooooo" at the same time
-
It's a lovely article D'Art. "Right on target, so direct..." But as we all know. it won't make a blind bit of difference. Rangers fans seem incapable of unity (you can see the seeds of division even in supposedly supportive replies above) Also, even if we were united we'd still be underdogs in the situation where evil asset stripping hedge fund managers and Ashley hold not only every ace but every card in the pack. Our great club, Struth's club, was taken into administration and liquidation and we, those who look into the mirror you speak of, did not even then pick up the scarcely breathing body. That was our fatal error and a disastrous dereliction of duty. We became Leeds and Portsmouth like at that moment. Sent to Coventry (or Northampton) as it were. The second, third and fourth biggest supported clubs in Scotland all would have fought, legally and illegally,to save their club in its time of utter crisis. They would have mobilised and fought back. Despite Timmy Thomson's view of our "fearsome reputation", we didn't, one or two ineffectual afternoons apart. Why do you think we will now? As I say, it is well written and nicely put - but in the grand scheme of things isn't it just self indulgent hot air*, like a guy in a bar spouting off re government policies on the economy and how they should really not keep screwing the poor and stop protecting the rich. Yes, of course, we all mutter as we order our next drinks and go back home eventually having done f@ck all? * Sorry, I do enjoy your "set-pieces", I wanted to praise not criticise, but you are just preaching to the converted and powerless. It is all just...well, bubbles in the air and not celebratory ones. PS None of the schemes described as "great " are having any impact whatsoever. A "great" fan ownership scheme would have, or would have a chance of, delivering fan ownership. None of ours do, and endless cheer leading of one over the other (however disguised in the opening sentences) is just more pissing in the wind. I admire the work people do I have/still am contributed to RST/RF/BR but I have absolutely no hope that they will ever have an effect or influence. That's not a reflection on those involved (their bickering aside, but then that's just internet babble, it's meaningless in the real world of influence and control) some of whom are admirable - but all seem blinkered into thinking they are achieving something. They (we) simply are not - nor do we show the slightest signs that we ever will.

It desperately needs to happen. As mentioned above it should already have happened at the time of Admin. i very much want it to happen butit his hard to believe it will when the need has been so obvious, so essential, even - and yet not addressed, for so long.

The official site cited three players, one of whom was suspended and another who is currently on loan at Airdrie. You are giving a case for the club avoiding the game that simply doesn't exist in their mindset - the club (Ally in this case) spoke otherwise. RFC officially didn't give a flying f@ck why the game was postponed - we posted a lie as to the reason ffs - whatever is said after that is a cover up, I can't for the life of me see why you are expending your time in trying to excuse Rangers for failing to meet up with Cowdenbeath when there is no reason for them to do so. We have already spent vastly more time on this than was done in a nano (if not Nando) second's "thought" in "our" team's head - "another holiday"
-
It is nothing to with the opposition - it's that they are all off on extended holiday. Check where they all go over the interim - it won't be gyms or set pieces practice. It'll be what all their lives are = paid holidays. They'll get the same pay packet this month with a two week break in the middle. Happy days for some... Might be worth checking exactly when their various hotel rooms for the next week or so were booked, eh? All pre-planned I'd assume
-
Sorry, Frankie I no longer see how you can rationalise it. I highly respect your opinion, normally but...I've had more than enough evidence that points the other way - it is always for Ally*, the easy soundbite, the easy way out it is never, ever analysing why the overnight stays for a game in Forfar ("It's always been that way at Rangers = Lee and I love the early morning golf) and thinking why it may be incorrect. A couple of years ago maybe I could have tried to cling to hope but I really don't, now. I stand my previous post, I wrote it in anger, obviously, but looking back, I'd not change a word. Unfortunately people I used to revere as real Rangers men are, have been, are continually proving themselves to be complicit in the mess we find ourselves in. *And yes I know it is not all his fault and he works in a club ruled by utter scum - but Ally himself if you look back has been at the very best naive but - lets be honest - complicit. Naive re his shares, his huge monthly wage (which he never knew) his huge contract ( which he signed without reading) It is like listening to Alistair Campbell rather than Alistair McCoist and yet, and yet = even all that I could take, He is in a terrible situation, he could have made a fortune out of TV (still could, I reckon) ..but he never admits what he has done on the field or his shortcomings. He continually talks about "hard work" and "improving" and "wake-up calls" (I genuinely do not believe he understands the words he spouts, he has no idea what "hard work" or "improving" actually mean. Similarly his: : Alloa is a "tough place", a scrabbled win v Livingston is " a great three points"*) his re-iteration of "to be brutally honest" (always followed by at best a cliche but more often an out of context evasion, equivocation or an untruth) shows a mindset that is alarming. To put it simply as too how damning this mindset is = when we dared to complain of a Monday off (after another weekend failure) that the training was too light, he proudly, yes proudly, claimed it had not changed in over 20 years. He meant that as a thing to hold on to, to show he was doing well. It actually never occurred to him that we were in the 21st Century now and everyone else has progressed. He craves to be back in a dressing room where Baxter never tries or Gazza pisses in Bo Anderson's boots and everyone laughs. And he thinks this is right and this will do and why not from his point of view? He and his crew will have lots of money in the bank for for spending six hours a week training (but clearly practicing no skills or set pieces) - he thinks that "hard work". FFS, give me strength to rid us off this attitude,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Ach, I'm too scunnered with it all. I WANT MY RANGERS BACK (actually I'll settle for a pale facsimile)
-
Yes there is a good reason. Ally and his "lads" find the basic (though not really that regular) 6 hours a week training too onerous. They'll have booked wee holidays, motel assignations and all kinds of fun for this "break" and they will not even contemplate the benefits of giving those up to play for League points . They have already made it clear how insignificant they think those are. We listed an on-loan player who is in the Candian squad in our desperation to get this game postponed, A player who is currently at Airdrie. Lies and deception for the easy life and/or personal profit - it has become "The Rangers Way". This is an utter disgrace, like the golfing "fun" and overnight hotels paid by 'the club' (= us, the fans) even in the lower leagues (and yes I know the Wigs steal MORE, but why should the players and management steal ANY when facing part time postmen etc?) We are the anti-Rangers. We are anti everything that I grew up with as meaning Rangers. Scottish, Protestant working class ethic with pride in our achievements and "Aye Ready", my aged & hairy behind. We are a disgrace - top to (hairy or otherwise) bottom. We stink. A very sad bear, wondering why he still even cares.
