Since the semi-final in fact....
-
You sure about that?
-
Surely if there had been any decent people there then they would have reacted against the effigies and had them brought down.
-
Well if the Hibs fans are claiming that our songs provoked them into the post Cup Final madness, then perhaps the banners aimed at our fans e. g. "know your place h** s**m" provoked this. .That's how they'd pay this. The photos look a bit odd, too.... But that may be clutching at straws.

Yes comical to us who know the truth but most people listening won't have and will think he is right re Uefa. I just wish that someone had known and called him out on it. i also wish that someone had asked why it cost so much more than usual for a ticket for today....
-
Yes but they get their lies across. People listening to that show will think Uefa have said that we are a new club.

Hi 26th. We have almost parallel histories. My memories of that game at the phiggery are almost identical. I also had a ticket for the Who,Alex Harvey etc gig and was having a pint on my way to it when I heard someone at an adjacent table say he wished he had a ticket. i only had enough money for one more pint and a fiver went a long way liquid wise then.......so I sold my ticket to him and stayed in the pub. -
Was it John Hartson that predicted "at least four" in the Semi Final? I seem to remember that it was and MW certainly hasn't forgotten :-)

Yes, that's the chap

Ally McCoist: I have no regrets over time as Rangers manager
SteveC replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
He has never thought there was anything wrong with his style. He says it is myth that his teams didn't play attractive football, his actual words re this were along the lines of "if you repeat a lie often enough people start to believe it". -
Yes but remember we were outpaced by Boyd - that makes everyone in their team relatively pacey

Same here, Ian. I don't know if it is just age - the Martian followed by TLRB, Reid etc. and then 2012 and their behaviour has meant I never want to be on the same planet far less the same pitch as them and would rather never see them again. Yetit is in my DNA to go through the ceiling when we score and then skywards roof if/when we win. I am working this Saturday and will only be able to glance at the scores at certain times. Nerves will be well and truly shredded

"And Sands was a convicted terrorist plus the songs about him invariably have a humorous nature and are not aimed at anyone else." They are bloody tedious though. The only place I ever hear of Bobby Sands is when I am at Rangers games. Why we have to keep his name and memory alive so persistently escapes me.

Well you would think so until you cast your mind back to John Reid teaching Labour MSPs the full IRA songbook (as reported by George Galloway) and then remember Reid was Minister for the Armed Forces, Minister for Defence and Home Secretary and is now a Baron. "Proscribed" would very much appear to be an unenforced term in this case. A Minister for the Armed Forces who sang and taught songs that gleefully revelled in the killing of those Armed Forces. A Minister for Defence who sang and taught songs about destroying said defence. In that context, your questions look very differently than they do on first reading.

http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/14720564.Glasgow_CCTV_target_Old_Firm_weekend_with_strike_action/? CCTV operators and community safety workers are to target next weekend's Old Firm clash with strike action over pay. Around 140 workers employed by Community Safety Glasgow (CSG), which is owned by the city council, will down tools between September) 9 and 11, selecting the dates as they include the renewal of league hostilities between Celtic and rangers, their first encounter of the season. The trade union Unison said the dispute was over the level of shift payments CSG intend to make under a new pay scheme. Some workers, it said, stand to lose around £3,000-a-year. The union accused CSG of trying to pay their workers less than counterparts in Glasgow City Council for nightshift, at weekends and unsocial hours. Those taking the action are members of Unite, GMB and Unison and include advocacy workers, community payback staff, community enforcement officers, security officers and CCTV workers. Brian Smith, Unison Glasgow Branch Secretary, said: “The trade unions believe that the payment levels are far too low compared to those in other parts of the Glasgow City Council Family. For example, the nightshift payment in the council is almost double that which CSG intend to pay. "The trade unions do not believe that the proposed payments adequately compensate workers who undertake shifts and our members have been left with no option other than to take strike action. Some workers are facing a pay cut of £3,000 per year.

The fact that you can say this without having seen him play in ages (presumably, apologies if I am in error here), have no idea if he is fully fit or near match fit and immediately get "agrees" speaks volumes - alas!

U-turn leaves Football League facing competition to tempt Old Firm clubs
SteveC replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
A lot of good points though the likes of Sutton United are probably about the size of Morton despite the latter being in the second top tier in Scotland. Also: "how many supporters would tolerate not having CL games for ten to twelve years? " = we may well be facing that anyway. it's not just winning the league, it's qualifying which we found a struggle even when we had top class players. Plus, it may become far more difficult to qualify in the fututre. I don't know how long our fans could bear not winning the league. I look at Liverpool just now - and Man U before them - and over quarter of a century without a league triumph. We'd be in for a culture shock for sure = but, but, but we cannot stay in Scotland as it is - everyone we play, everyone who governs the game, everyone who writes about it or commentates on TV and radio despises us. They tried to kill us and will never let up. Also: "And of course, if we progressed up the leagues at a different rate to our east end neighbours, what would we do without a few seasonal derbies?" Be effing ecstatic, as I would very happily never play those c@nts ever again. -

Perhaps, but I think that may soon be far from a certainty, and already is not so easy for Sweden and Norway. Once you got there the cost of booze would bankrupt you in any case, were you to partake. -

That's a fair point but you have to balance it with the likes of Newcastle, Villa etc not being able to remain there and once very big clubs - Sheffield Wednesday and Wolves, say - spending decades mostly in lower divisions. We have a support used to success (witness the grumbling already this season) - they would have to adjust sharpish to a different world order. Having said which we absolutely have to get out of Scotland - the way the game is now run, we have no chance - it is the opposite of a level playing field.
