  1. Yes and equally it would be disingenuous to pretend that the club and many of the support didn't have some of the political and/or religious beliefs we are talking about. It's fairly simple really and it comes down to realism and mutual respect. I'm not from the West of Scotland and growing up a first generation Rangers fan in Edinburgh, my attention was always directed at the football. I went to games and sang songs but wasn't really aware of the history behind it until further down the track and that co-incided with joining the Marines and a couple of tours of N.I., so it dovetailed quite nicely. As I've got older my politcs and my football are very seperate and I wouldn't shape my politics because of the football team I support. To me, that would be plain silly but for those who grew up and were formed closer to Ibrox and/or within a Rangers supporting family, then you can understand their politics, etc.
  2. If we had the kit out now,....how many would we have been able to shift down South for the WC ? #XX thousand
  3. Of course I am Bill,...... If it makes you feel better, I can be inconsolable for your particular 'reality'.
  4. I tend to think he was given the role partly because of his media profile and reach........and his new remit would expect him to, within reason and the terms of the particular contracts involved, promote and defend the club where possible. Wrt defending the club, he won't be seen or expected to be a gamechanger, only a positive public voice. I think he already tries to defend the club on SSB at times but simply isn't very good at it when it gets 'political'.
  5. It may be fun to you but you only illustrate your curious disposition to not only live and preach within your own reality but to expect others to be by your side and nod their heads, even if that reality doesn't actually reflect the real world......Then to top it off, offer abuse to those who might not.
  6. The whole shooting match leaves me cold tbh.
  7. In the real world, not every Rangers supporter fits into your stereotype and hence you have differing opinions being put forward. Your intolerent tone and language paints it's own picture.
  8. We could do relatively well and still not make the group stages. I look at some of the seeded teams further into the qualifiers..... Sevilla Besiktas AZ Alkmaar Maccabi Tel-Aviv RB Leipzig Partizan Belgrade Burnley Atalanta Zenit Feyenoord Bordeaux Olympiakos, etc. .... and just think it's asking a lot to turn things round so quickly and dispatch that level of team.
  9. Wrt the league in general, swimming against a strong tide won't take us anywhere. If we want to get anywhere, we'll have to do it ourselves but first we have to sort ourselves out so I doubt we'll get far this year.
  10. Trying to be objective and forgeting my own views on flags in general.....I look at the design of the white top with Union flag incorporated and think it's a cracker that has potential to sell extremely well and not only within our support base. With that in mind and given current circumstances, I'd actually be dissappointed if we didn't go with it.
  11. I think he may try to but IMO he's not very good at that side of things.
  12. The line IMO is orange strip ok for the reasons you mention but prominent flag, not so. Or in other words, colours rather than symbols.
  13. People can have an opinion. That doesn't mean anything should be, has to be or will be ditched. Don't take offence
  14. Whisper tends to be translated as Colin Nish. The 4M figure is the go to bullsh** number this summer.
  15. I have no problem with a simple colour (orange) but I don't think any flag (Union flag or Saltire) should be so prominent within a strip design but that's just me and I don't buy strips anyway. Asthetically, it looks good and commercially it'd be successful so it does make sense in that regard.
  16. IMO the time to have got Allan was the second season we were in the Championship but instead Hibs bought him and thus he entered into a dynamic where if he did well, he wasn't going to be allowed to go to Ibrox aslong as he had a contract with Hibs. He's now tied into a contract that means the one place you can be assured he won't be coming is Ibrox.
  17. Regardless, the numbers involved are obscene.
  18. It isn't the same, in that our Chairman has personally and publicly made a specific allegation against an individual(s) and specific request for action of the SFA.
  19. Selfishly, I've always thought the easiest thing to do would be to have no away supporters at either ground for various and obvious reasons. Although I get the various and obvious counter arguments.
  20. I'm raging at this,.....there'll be no resale value.
  21. 1. Generally, politics are part of the football scene in Glasgow and both big clubs identify with different flags and the ensuing politics. 2. It simply ties in with the very polarised enviroment, the mutual hate and industrial rhetoric. 3. The Independence Referendum in 2014 (allied to our problems) brought a whole new dimension to the polarisation and enabled the other side of the fence to recruit 'haters' of us. 4. As a club we've been weak (at various levels & for various reasons) and have been on the backfoot, 'taking it on the chin' for years. 5. A counter-offensive is long overdue but like everything it should be carefully thought through and be part of a strategy that has a future rather than simply reactionary.
  22. This guy was close but no resale value went against him......... A worldy but no confirmation of any interest as I type........ Definite resale value here.........
  23. By the sounds of it the publication it appeared in took it off their site and they or other interested party had google remove it aswell prior to the SFA appointment of Hughes. The issues are that Hughes is supposed to be 'independent' and that there were possibly SFA personel with knowledge or complicent in the removal of the article. The fact such efforts were involved in the articles removal from the web shows that there was a perception of it being a black mark on such an 'independent' appointment in the first place by the candidate/SFA. Effectively, they(Hughes/SFA personel) have already passed self-judgement on Hughes/SFA personel, several years ago.
  24. Generally, if we pander to their every whim we'll just continue on a slippery slope. I'd ridicule those who want to use it as a stick to beat Rangers with. It's a colour and IF it happens to be incorporated into a strip design then so be it.
