Agreed. You have to wonder about his future career prospects. What club is going to take a chance on a guy who has failed so miserably at Celtic, and who hardly won rave reviews for his time at West Brom? I can see him taking a job in relative obscurity (League 1/ League 2 or similar) and it may take some time for him to build back up a level where he would be considered for a job at a good-sized club, if at all.

Trappatoni might not be too pie in the sky but it would likely take a lot of money to get him. And having spunked so much on hiring and firing Mowbray (and his (mis)management team) and funding his scattergun transfer policy, how much can they really afford to pay?

Unbelievable! A manager who has managed in the EPL for a number of years as well as the Welsh team isn't experienced enough? I get the impression Timmy will not be satisfied until Jock Stein is resurrected from his grave and installed as manager.

Am I Herring right? Nemo Lennon, the uber Clown Fish has taken over? Surely there's salmon wrong there? He's an arSole of the highest order but has the Perchecution complex needed for the job. I can't work out whether this is Brill or a load of Pollocks!

He's also not long signed a long-term contract for megabucks and would therefore not be cheap.

Is getting one over your biggest rivals and having a bit of banter not one of the joys of the game? I don't disagree with the premise of what your are saying but some Rangers fans on a message board revelling in Celtic's downfall is hardly evidence to suggest that I or others value that more than our own success. But, I'll focus on what positives I can draw, and for me, we are one step closer to the title and securing �£10-�£15m in Champions League income which helps address our debt and therefore long-term future; and could well determine whether we have any money to spend in the summer in strengthening the squad - something last night's result showed us is needed if we want to kick on from here.

That isn't what I said at all. I said the Tim's result was more important in terms of helping us to secure the title and the financial benefits that brings. That doesn't mean that a defeat in the QF of the SC doesn't matter.

Its a tricky one. And Smith isn't to know how the games will pan out. Had Celtic and Rangers won tonight, no-one would bat an eyelid. But then if we then go to Tynecastle on Saturday and get beat, and Celtic won again...suddenly its a wee chink in the armour and there are faint hopes for the Green and Grey hoops fightback. Not saying I like it but I can understand why Smith has done it. I think we also need to be realistic in terms of the overall state of the club.

Also, I think the guaranteed CL money for winning the league very much makes the Tim's result more important than ours. Certainly in terms of what money we might have to spend to refresh the squad and our ability to reduce the debt.

I certainly am disappointed and do not relish the defeat . I was merely pointing out a small positive in the fact we did.
